  1. yes my name is charles. and yes Anna was a kick @ss shit lead. She kept us motivated and made working the Beast (The Plunge) a frikken good time.
  2. Photos from Vegas. Shots of the Manhatten Express and Stratosphere Attractions. Took a nice little trip for my best friends 21st birthday and had a good time. Mahatten Express I got one of those scream passes to ride Manhatten all day. Rougher than I remember last, I also rode it a little intoxicated lol. Big Shot- My favorite S&S tower of all time. The ride is a beast, good air time and even better views. X-Scream- Very....well nerve racking to say the least. BUt fun non-the less. Intensity- Pure adrenaline madness. Good views of the strip below. Had a good weekened and even got some thrills in. Well worth the money. A little tip, If you have reservations at the Top of the World restaurant the Elevator ride is free. Took my girlfriend up there and she loved the dinner the views, and though she didnt ride she enjoyed seeing me squirm. Enjoy. The Farewell Shot The guys and I back at a buddies house in North LV. Romantic Dinner at the Top of the World Restaurant. Im on the far right with my hands out lol There I go Blury...but kool. The Big Shot New York New York The Ritz Carlton in Lake Las Vegas
  3. Thats funny we ( the crew at Perilous) thought the same thing when the boats came in. But,if you look at riptide from perilous, the boats and riptide match paint schemes and it doesnt look too bad imo.
  4. The boats are about 6 inches shorter then the originals. A little tighter but the restraints are quite roomy. Able to fit shorter guests as well as larger. If your over 6 foot you might have a problem fitting inside the boats, max. height is like 72 inches I think.
  5. These are some photos I took in early july/ late june of this summer. I was a ride operator at Perilous Plunge and Riptide. Photos are mostly in the morning with no crowds durring testing and some durring late night training and stuff. Best job ever in my opinion. I loved Perilous Plunge climibing the lift, test riding in the morining. I miss the old boats, but the new ones are definatley better on dispatch time. Plus they fit a broader demographic as far as size. Riptide was kool, must have ridden that sucker over a 100 times this summer. If you have any questions post em, im pretty knowledgable with many of the rides at knotts. Enjoy the pictures. p.s. they're in reverse order. whoops. The number 1 arriving in the Dry Dock In with the New, out with the old. thats me "what the hell did you just do you noob" look close up of the on-board computers. This is Perilous doing what it does. Giving us problems. Show Water! Good Night Perilous Go Thomas Go GO! Morning Testing The Beast. Good Morning Riptide Boomerang From Perilous's Station Final Shot of Knotts Random shot of my custom Scorpion.
  6. I personally love the version of Atlantis in San Diego. Sure the only dark ride portion in the vertical lift in the tower, but thoose two effects located in the tower are pretty kool. This new one at San Antionio sounds like a clone or similar to Atlantica SuperSplash at Europa. Never the less its an addition to the park and more than welcomed.
  7. Im still going to stick with this coaster maybe being a variation of the Intamin Ball Coaster. Fingers Crossed.
  8. I remember you guys! LOL. I was the ride opp at Riptide. If that one pic was about an inch over then you would had me in the shot. Nice to here you had a good day in the park.
  9. I see it as you leave the station backwards up the lift, face first drop, complete the flip. You enter the first raven turn going forwards now dive below full-full you enter the overbank going forwards, enter the half-half and your going backwards again enter the raven turn you drop going forwards and then the fly to lie flip and your in the brakes going backwards again. Dunno if that all made sense.
  10. Thanks again Robb for putting this together. That was a lot of fun. Tatsu was great, and that Pretzel Loop in the back seat beat the hell out of me lol. NOt to mention Deja Vu was running, and my friends and I got to ride 12 of the major coasters. But we were wiped my 2:30 in the afternoon. But it was a ton of fun, and hopefully there will be more events like this. Charles "Tatsu's Pretzel Loop owned me" Laureano
  11. well Giovanola is or used to be (not sure) was contracted to build thr supports and track of B&M coasters. when B&M couldnt build in house they had Giovanola build it. But as far as I know that was prior to when B&M had a plant state side. Anyone know if they still work together?
  12. You know it’s just a matter of time until the guys at Intamin engineer something to replace the current cable system. I think that they adapted old technology i.e. the cable instead of creating a brand new cable specifically for the hydraulic launch system. And the same can be said for other various components of the roller coasters launch system just my 2 cents.
  13. Dude that looks intense, looks like its going to live beyond the hype. Man I really want to take a trip out there now.
  14. Kool, thanks for the help. Looks like Ill go for the job, they offered a position on riptide. I need the money, and I want to enjoy my job, so this looks to be it. Again thanks for all your help. -Charles
  15. I was wondering how much ride operators at Knotts Berry Farm made an hour? My Merchant marine stipend doesnt come until November, so I need a regular job to support me till then. Can anyone help out?
  16. Wow this brings back memories. "Space Shuttle" a boomerang clone located at Enchanted Kingdom in the Phillipines. I wouldnt ride that thing for the life of me until I found out I was moving state side, so I rode everything b/c I knew I probably wasnt going to see it all for a while.
  17. I think the Raven is over rated. Its to short IMO, I wish that last part where you duck in and out of the forest was longer. And I would agree that night time rides are better.
  18. I am not sure as to if Fuji's 4D will have two lift motors. As for ArrowVision, Im going to guess its the same program and algorithms etc, but with a name carrying the S&S logo, just my guess.
  19. Yeah I agree with slick. On our ship and the equipment we use here at the academy, we have many problems with the hydraulic systems. Us engineers have a ton load of work ahead of us when we get new machinary using hydraulics, our lab profesor says its something like a car. You have let all the mechanical parts to sit properly before you get full power and reliability.
  20. Here we go, after some dogging I found some photos. If the assumptions are right, in that the lift motor will be mounted the same as X, I would be right. Photos from TwistedRails.com Photo of the mounted motor. Photo of the Footer.
  21. Looking at that "odd place for a footer" it looks like it could be a mounting for the lift motor. Most modern coasters have their lift motors elevated for longevity's purposes. ie reducing stress from torque, train engagement etc. Just a though from an engineering prospective.
  22. For sure. When I used to travel with my dad on his business trips in Europe, I would go to parks alone. It has its perks because you can hit all the single rider lines and ride all the popular rides multiple times.
  23. Even if this coaster is a slightly modified "X", I think its an awesome first step for the second generation of 4D coasters. I look forward to one day riding this sucker.
  24. I go to school in Vallejo and I myself have seen Zonga running for the past few weeks. However Ive heard nothing about whether the ride will reopen or be sold.
  25. I've got a couple of those huge cups from early 90's Boardwalk, Knotts Barry Farm. It has that crazy lookin' head. And i've got all 5 sheets of those collectors pogs they gave out in '93 I think it was.
