spaceace12 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Holiday World purchased some more land with a Santa Statue that will be restored. It is one of the projects that Will wanted to do (acquire the land and restore the statue, it was the 1st Santa Statue). Plymouth Rock Cafe will have a covered eating area with a/c. Rudolph's Reindeer Ranch will have the airplane ride taken out and have a sleigh ride to replace it. Safari Sam's Splashland.....new kids area with slides. Also, there was talk about paving the parking lot, adding l.o.c.k.e.r.s, restrooms and changing rooms. Will update with official release when it is out. Also, Pat Koch will be 80.....she doesn't look a day over 30. News Release http://www.insideindianabusiness.com/newsitem.asp?ID=43799 -

I hope the fan that got that helmet got something. My feelings is that once it leaves the boundries of the field (let alone 10 rows up), it is free game to where it goes. I also hope the team and NFL fines him because he could have hurt someone throwing it into the stands (it wasn't on accident). -

I will be at the top of the tower here for my station at some point. Won an employee auction for dinner and a tower tour (I get to go up the 1,000 foot tower on the elevator) (auction was to pay for the Christmas party and prizes at the party). -

Seen the score, what was the deal? Could neither QB score because of defense or because of bad decisions? -
If it isn't 4wd, have fun in winter on snow. Get some weight in that bed (pile it high full of snow and clear a spot for a review mirror sight and have some fun with it. In my Jeep Cherokee, I love the challenge of using rear wheel drive only in winter (have four, but find it fun not to use it).

Looking into starting into Photography

I would find a cheaper dslr, like a Nikon d3000 or d5000. They run about 700 dollars and they are great to see if you want to dive head first into it. If you plan on doing it for a job, don't, everybody and their mom does it and you have to be real good to make any money. As for editing software, first use GIMP before seeing if you want to dive head first, then go for either photoshop elements *(about 100 dollars) or full blown Adobe suite (200 dollars and up). As for tips, there is a bunch. One is rule of thirds, always try to have your subject on the left or right third and have lead room. Play around with the semi manual setings on a dslr. Do a apature priority to get the depth of field stuff down. Fstops (apature) determine how much light gets into the ccd's and your dept of field (having a brain fart on the exact technical stuff, it is either the larger the fstop {lower the number} the more light will get in and the more depth of field {more things stay in focus} you will have. And the smaller fstop {higher the number} the more shallw it will get). Fstops start normally on lenses that come with cameras around f 3.5 and go up from there. The lower that number, the more light gets in and better in low lighting. Shutter speed can also determine depth of field and also makes things be in focus. In good light and photographing things like racing, the higher the shutter speed, the better. But the more shutter speed you have, the more light you need. Everytime you double your shutter speed, you need double the light. All that I just typed really doesn't matter for the time being, the big thing is to get a camera and play with it. Dslr's are cheap now compared to when I bought my Nikon d70s (I paid 1200 for it). Another thing is to just search the web for information. When I went to college for broadcasting, I learned quite a bit that transfers over (I might not be 100% correct on those things since it has been about 5 years since I finished and I don't shoot video at work). Also, I agree with Parktrips, find a class or two (college or even photography stores offers them). And get a tripod. -

Having never ridden the Voyage, I was just wondering- would you say that it was noticeably 'smoother' or 'less aggressive' during its first couple of operating seasons and it has simply been difficult to maintain causing it to tear itself apart much like Hades? Or have you just never really been a big fan of the ride? It was always very agressive, but it was a heck of a lot smoother earlier in its operations. My personal opinion is that the PTC's, while a very good product, really aren't designed to go that fast through the wicked transitions on The Voyage. I've heard that they have to do substantial re-tracking every year. I personally LOVE the Voyage (even when it was beating the poo poo out of me.) If I'm not mistaken, Robb and Elissa have never really been big fans of it and much prefer the Raven at Holiday World. David The park had to do a lot of retracking earlier in the operations of Voyage. When they realized how much the track was being beat up, they installed a trim brake halfway. That was a couple years ago, since then, they have braced areas and removed the trim brake. With any wood coaster, retracking is always needed in the off season. I personally have ridden Voyage every year since it opened. I believe it is this best it has ever ran this year. I don't believe it has ever been that rough I have never wanted to reride it. The Voyage was designed with Timberliners in mind, they said on facebook that they are still testing and tweaking. I am going to the coasterbuzz event and hope it is ready for that event. But if they have to rush to get them ready, just have them ready for 2011. -
Today I started lose some Mass before Kings Island in October plan. The weather was finally nice enough to ride my bike. I only rode five miles because I some issues with my water pouch thing and because I am starting again after not riding for three months. I might be fine because last year I was right around 290. I was able ride Diamondback and all the rides at Kings Island last year. When I did ride DB the ride op had to push the bar down for me to ride. Next week I will be sweating my gut off (hopefully) when I go down to New Orleans with my church on a mission trip rebuilding homes. Goal is to be down to 200-220 by next year and when I do, I am heading an hour south and going to die the Blue Flash.

Sidewalk Prophets at the state fair, but seen another concert that was funny. A band known as the Circle City Stompers was at the fair doing little shows around the fairgrounds.

Good, and one reason is because the law passed by a vote of the people of the state. What does that say when you vote something in and then someone says your vote is not worth anything. -

Colts will be 12-4 this season and win the division and hopefully lock up the #1 or #2 seed in the AFC and then have a few weeks to rest up a bit. -

Preseason for my colts start on Sunday, but I usually don't watch preseason. Funny thing is that I had thought about going to a Saints pre season game only because tickets are cheap and I would have been in NOLA for the game already. But can't because of time issues. I was hoping that I was going to get away with not hearing the most annoying phrase in the world when I was down there though. Oh well, will still represent my Colts down there, I will be wearing Colts shirt and hats when I can. -
California Proposition 8 Overturned!
spaceace12 replied to NorCalAndrew's topic in Random, Random, Random
I am going to jump in now... Here is where I stand. I support Prop 8. And this is mainly on my religious feelings. But where I probably am different from a bunch of people, the only reason I am against it is because it has the word marriage. I (me, myself, the person posting this) don't have a problem with civil unions. My issue is when the word marriage comes into play because I believe that marriage should be with man and woman only. It really isn't my place to judge your lifestyle. That is all I am going to say on this subject. -

spaceace12 replied to zaneymon's topic in Random, Random, Random
A wet suit, I know it doesn't sound random, but I don't scuba dive (yet) and I bought it to use at water parks when the temps are not up yet. I have yet to use it.
