Here comes the opposition... When I rode Wildcat in August, I didn't really have a problem with it. It was jerky in a few spots, but I wouldn't call it all around rough. If it still had PTC trains, I would probably say the opposite, but with the Millennium Flyers, I didn't think it was anything to complain about. My only problem was that the ride wasn't quite as outrageous as the other GCI's I've been on. Lightning Racer is still running great, and I guess I should probably try another seat on Gwazi. I've always ridden it in the front and though it's a little jerky, I've always loved it. Granted, I know that's not going to vouch for the rest of the train, but if everybody says everywhere else is rough as hell, then I have no reason to try it anywhere else if I find the front to be just fine.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Scaparri replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I don't think the inversions or the vertical drop would have been negative reasons for lap bars. I'd be more concerned about the wicked quick turns/transitions it makes, particularly the set of esses after the first drop, and a few of the turns between the launch and the brakes. I just feel like they should redesign the top of the OTSRs for this ride. If you aren't gripping on to the top of them (where they say you aren't supposed to hold), then you get a severe neck jab during the insanely quick turns. That's my only issue with it. Anyway, I give the ride about a 9 out of 10. I loved it. I'm just pretty sure I'm going to hate it in about five years after it has aged some. -
TOP 5 B&M INVERTED COASTERS
Scaparri replied to CoasterExpert13's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. Dueling Dragons 2. Montu 3. Raptor 4. Alpengeist 5. Great Bear 6. Batman Clones 7. Top Gun: TJC Yeah, for some reason, I loved the quirkiness of Great Bear and found it to be fairly intense. Maybe not as intense as the Batmans, but I loved the weirdness of it. Both it, the Batmans, and Great Bear are all really close. Did I just have a bad ride on TG: TJC? Because, to me, it was the complete opposite... Raptor craps all over TG. The only thing on TG that wasn't "meh" to me was the first drop. Everything else was good, but not on par with the other B&M inverts I've been on... at least not DD, Raptor, or Montu. It didn't seem that intense to me, and the thing REALLY died out after the wing over. I guess I need to just give it another try or something. I've never understood the rage about it. -
But it only worked becuase it made them scared, which is not something that should happen. The children should know not to do something wrong, but they shouldn't be scared about it. Yeah, but that's what any form of punishment does. Fear is how you teach kids not to do things. It's the fear that prevents them from doing it again. Kids don't like having things taken away from them either, nor do they like being locked in there room for a long period of time not being allowed to turn the tv on or anything. The lesson is, they won't do it again because they fear that will happen to them again. It's the same principle. As for the case with the kids you babysit, that sounds to me like a case where the parents have crossed the line. I'm fine if you want to spank your kids, but don't cross that fine line. Again, I was spanked, but only when I did something really wrong. Otherwise, I was sent to my room or something. I was never terrified of my parents because they spanked me. I understood it was my punishment and if I didn't want to get spanked again, then I shouldn't do that again. Simple. No terror, just a lesson with that slight fear of another spanking.
-
Are you a little angry at your parents for something? Seriously, that's really opinionated. Whenever I did something bad, depending on the severity, I was spanked. I was never confused. I didn't despise my parents for it. I still love my parents. I got spanked, which taught me to be more careful with my actions. I never got into a fight with anybody growing up. There's a huge difference between spanking and beating your kids. I'm not saying I'm going to, but I'm not going to pass an evil glare if I see somebody else give their kid a simple spanking. I turned out just fine. It's just knowing where to draw the line if you're going to spank your kids. As stupid as it may sound, I think most people understand when I say there is a big difference between spanking your kids and hitting your kids.

Floggings. Good old fashioned floggings. I also have a nice pile of stones, a large amount of tar, and bag full of chicken feathers if things ever get really out of hand. Ok seriously, while I don't have kids, I was spanked when I was growing up and I turned out fine. I don't know if I'll spank my kids or not, but they will be disciplined. Privileges will definitely be taken away.

onride.de presents: Extrem TOP-Spinning
Scaparri replied to Balmera's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's just unbelievable. I love the pic of the crew with the operator. I don't my stomach would have survived that though. I can't imagine that being very good for the ride though. I wouldn't think they are made to withstand such long periods of continuous, high stress. Who knows though. -

That's cold... Sweet TR, Scott. I'm definitely jealous. I can't get over that second to last pic of El Toro showing it drop off. That is insane. -

Wow, I've never heard of a ride being imploded before. That was my first ride during my lone visit to the park back in 2005. I've always loved the Intamin 1st gen's. They throw in an extra appeal with the intense slide onto your back. It's sad it's been destroyed, but at least they are getting a fresh, fun ride.

^Yeah, given how the distance between the two parks, the low attendance of GL, and the fact that the ride still looks pretty good, I can't really blame them in this case. If they somehow decide to get some of those newly designed trains SLC trains, then this will be an awesome addition for the park. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening.

Yeah, not really a good way to start your NHL career. Deserves every one of those games. Props to the NHL for stepping up.

What is your next park?
Scaparri replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Six Flags Great America on October 13th, and that will likely close out my season, though a trip to one of the Orlando parks in November is possible. -

Obviously we won't, it's just a matter of what you enjoy. I for one, love Cedar Point. I love the place! But I also much prefer IOA over it. When I go to CP, I go to an amusement park with a ton of fun rides. When I go to IOA, I go to a theme park that transports me to another world and has a handful of awesome rides. What Disney did for me as a little kid, IOA does for me as an adult. The place is so incredibly themed, it's fun just to walk around. Then you throw in the incredibly themed awesome rides like DD, Hulk, and Spiderman and it just tops off the experience. CP and IOA are pretty much completely different kinds of parks in my opinion. It's just all about what you look for I guess. Anyway, I have to put in another vote for Holiday World. I might have even said something about it earlier in this thread. I'm not sure. It's not that the place isn't good or fun, but enthusiasts just rave about the place and I just don't walk away as impressed as others. Yeah, they've got a nice collection of woodies, the place is generally clean, drinks are free, and it's got a slight small park charm to it. That's about where it ends for me though. The water park would be awesome, but I just get tired of waiting an hour to do every slide, or constantly having people bump into me in the pools. The place has grown to big for it's own good in my opinion. And the ride collection is ok. Nothing really unique or cool. I'm not saying I don't like the place. I like it a lot, but it's just not what people make it out to be for me. It's kind of lost most of it's uniqueness it might have once had for me.

I think I just threw up a little... I definitely wish I had the money to go on this trip. What I'd give to go to a country with so many weird quirks. -
Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!
Scaparri replied to Meteornotes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, I know... and I'm slightly embarrassed about it. I guess it just gets annoying sometimes. I guess I'm generally a take-what-you're-given kind of guy, though I'm sure I've complained a few times. It's their opinion and oh well. I'm excited about it. -
Are YOU a credit whore?
Scaparri replied to Purplepills's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I try and get as many credits as possible, but I make no effort to get the kiddie coasters that require a kid, and I generally won't wait longer than 5-10 minutes for any other junior/kiddie coaster. To give you an idea, I've lived an hour south of Indianapolis almost my entire life and actually in Indianapolis the last year and a half and it wasn't until last month that I finally got the Kombo credit at the zoo. -
I just had a meltdown in the Fahrenheit thread, and surprisingly, I could care less. Though I am slightly embarrassed that I even had a meltdown over something coaster related, online.
