B&M Flyer in China
Mind Eraser replied to Scaparri's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Elissa- Who the hell knows what is going on with Vekoma. Actually, I don't think Vekoma exists anymore - at least not the big player they used to be. A bunch of Vekoma employees started a new company called Kumbak. I think what's left of the Vekoma company just sells standard/clone rides (Boomerangs, SLCs, etc). I really wish I could get the official scoop. -kip- -

::sigh:: I figured it's a good coaster - hmph. It looks like a helluva fun ride. The double dip first drop looks like it has major potential. Maybe I'll luck out and the group leader will be able to get Puyallup to open it for us for like 30 minutes or so! Riiiiight, like that'll really happen. -kip- -

Tree Topper has always been on my "Most Wanted" list. I love Cobb woodies. Tree Topper is small and quirky. Looks like definite fun. Another woodie topping my "Most Wanted" list is Vancouver's Coaster. And, I am finally getting to ride it in August!! Woo! One down side of my Northwest trip so far - the Puyallup Coaster won't be open. Please, someone tell me it sucks so I don't feel bad. I mean, it can't be that great, it's a John Miller, I think. -
Mr Six the ride at SFNE...

Scaparri- I could not agree more! I rode the one at Worlds of Fun last summer. It was an absolute riot. I would gladly take one of these over a B&M or some overbraked piece of shit coaster any day. The trick is to find a really fat single rider, invite them to ride with you, and both sit on the same side. Just do it, you'll be glad you did! I've heard that Pandemonium is a clone of the two others in the States, and after looking at the pictures, it does appear to be a clone. But who the hell cares? It's an outrageous little coaster! I say, send 'em everywhere. I hear my home park may be getting one next year actually. That would be awesome with me! -kip- -
I saw a TV special on Amityville a few months ago. Basically, the family fabricated all of those horror stories (not like I needed a TV show to tell me that ) -kip-

B&M Flyer in China
Mind Eraser replied to Scaparri's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think it's strange that the OCT park bought a Vekoma SLC and a Vekoma Mine Train, but then decided to buy a friggin' B&M for their third coaster. Why not keep it all in the family and buy a Vekoma flyer? I bet they could have gotten a discount. -kip- -
Here are a few things I have started doing. * Walk about 3 miles a day * Ride a stationary bike for 20-30 minutes a day. * Cut out all junk food. * Eat half of what I want to eat Basically, I did a lot of little things like this; and shortly after I started, I dropped 10 lbs really quick. My only downfall is my "Comfort Eating". Occassionally, I get depressed and fall off the "junk food wagon". I'm working on controlling that though. It doesn't help that the McDonald's down the street from me just started 24 hour service! Motherf**kers! -kip-

Anybody but me watch American Idol?
Mind Eraser replied to Edwardo's topic in Random, Random, Random
I disagree. I think she had one of the strongest, sexiest voices left on stage. * Anwar needs to go, Mr. Stevie Wonder Meets Rastifarian Fabio! * Scott needs to go, Mr. Drowning In My Own Fat, Phone Throwing, Girl Beater! * Bo needs to go (and what kinda name is BO BICE?) * Constantine has some talent, but he also needs to go because he thinks he is hot $hit and he's not. * Anthony can stay cuz he gets hotter every week, but he really needs to be on a cruise ship singing Copa Cabana. I swear to God, the only two I can tolerate now are Vonzell and Carrie. I think Vonzelle could sweep the competition. She has a phenomenally strong voice and she's adorably sexy. Carrie, I'm not sold on yet. It seems like EVERYONE wants her to win, and I'm kinda thinking, why? -kip- -

It should be A Day of Moaning and Squealing. Afterall, the only thing gay people do is have sex. They're all on welfare because they can't work because they need to stay home all day having gangbangs. Edit: Woo! My 100th post and it's all about welfare and gangbangs! -kip-

I have seen it, but that must have been more than five years ago. I wanna say I saw it in a magazine, but I'm not sure. One thing I do remember, the original design did not have a second hill. It went from the first drop, which was shorter and had no tunnel, right into the overbanked turn. I will attempt to find the layout again. However, I can't guarantee that I'll have any luck. -kip- -

Ted- I really think Carrie had a cold last night. In the mini-interview, she was sniffing and she sounded stuffed up. I still want to see the final three be Vonzell, Nadia, and Carrie. F**k the boys, all of them. It's funny how everyone was saying that the men ruled this competition in the beginning; but, now in my opinion, the only talented people up there are the females. -kip- -

Craiggers wrote: Here's the story: SFDL's Superman opened in 1999. Pieces for SFA's coaster were at the park in late '98, ready to be built for a '99 debut, too. Darien's and SFA's were manufactured at the same time. However, SFA ran into problems with zoning so they couldn't get theirs open until 2000. SFNE's was version two. Intamin designed a hyper for SFNE, but Six Flags went back to Intamin and told them to add this and that. Had SF not requested the additions, SFNE's Superman would have been similar (to its current incarnation), but not nearly as good. If SFA was originally scheduled to get theirs in 2000, chances are, we would have seen a custom, and even better, hypercoaster at the MD park. For what it is worth, the original design for SFNE was not that impressive. Robb said: Yes, for some odd reason, SFA's runs extremely better than Darien's. I was so disappointed with the way SFDL's acted. It was sluggish and had pussified air. I guess it comes down to park maintenance, it must be that because SFA and SFDL are exact mirror images. I will say, though, sometimes on cold morning, SFA's can run a little sluggish too. I remember one time in, I think, it was 2001 walking from Batwing with Robb and Elissa and we were watching the morning test runs as Superman struggled to get back to the station. A bunch of us started yelling when the train almost stopped on the last hill and nearly rolled back (which it did do this past Saturday!). -kip- (Intamin talk is fun! ) -

Movieguy- I was pretty unimpressed with SFDL. However, I really adore Marineland! Dragon Mountain is so strange, I couldn't help but fall in love with it. I'm a sucker for unique coasters. Plus, Marineland has North America's only permanent Huss Magic! That things is genius. I sorta liked Martin's Fantasy Island. Silver Comet was a dud, but the park had a nice atmosphere. -kip- -

Ted, that's an awesome idea. It would probably be pretty difficult to plan and execute, but I'd easily slap down, oh, $40 for a day at the elusive Stricker's Grove. I wonder how much it costs to rent the park for half a day (we probably woudn't need an entire day?). I mean, it can't be extremely expensive, it's a picnic grove in a random Ohio town. The two woodies don't look all that interesting, but hell, they are wooden so I would like to ride them. -kip-

First time I was going 70 in a 55 on a HIGHWAY where the flow of traffic is easily 70. The cop was a real a-hole too. Second time, my (automatic) window wouldn't go down, so I threw my cigarette out of my sunroof. Little did I know, there was a cop behind me. He pulled me over, but only gave me a warning. Nice guy. I didn't know it was a moving violation to toss a cig out your window. I thought it was legal (and not "littering") since cigs are biodegradable. Got maybe two Red Light Camera tickets. Been in two accidents. Yeah, my insurance is pretty high I think I pay $300/month for insurance. I can't wait to get my car paid off. In 1.5 years, I'll have an extra $250/month to play with. I want to buy a new car after I pay off my Civic EX, but don't want to have to pay $250-300 a month for another five years. But, I REALLY love those Toyota's Matrixes and Mini Coopers. -kip-

When did they paint the Tornado? I remember it being natural wood. Oh, and I think it's highly irresponsible to take your dog on a coaster; and it's just as bad that some parks allowed it. Tamar flies out and everyone is up in arms, meanwhile, if that dog fell out, nobody would give a $hit. WOOF WOOF SPLAT -kip- (I would care )

Totally Messed Up Ultra Twister...
Mind Eraser replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I didn't find Windjammer nearly as violent as people said it was. I really enjoyed it actually. I know I'm in the minority. FWIW, the Togo Viper was way way rougher than Windjammer. Ahecht- SF got rid of Ultra Twister's vertical lift for evacuation purposes. -kip- -

My absolute alltime favorite woodie drop was (note: "was") the first/second drop combo on the Riverside Cyclone (pre-castration). The first time I rode, I had heard the stories about that coaster, so I took my first ride in the back seat and ordered myself to keep my hands up the entire ride. When we went down the first drop, I was like "HOLY F**KING S**T!!!".... then we hit the second bump/drop and I literally thought I was going insane: "This cannot be real!" It felt like I was being rouched up by some 300 lb club bouncer. The air was amazing, it was so rough, it was just....perfection. But then SFNE went a f**ked it all up... Not only did they "retard" the first drop, they added another trim, I think. Now, it's horribly rough (not in a good way) and it just crawls along the track. I hardly ever get upset over coasters, but this situation justs really pisses me off. -kip-

Best Drops....
Mind Eraser replied to BiCoastal Kid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just off the top of my head: Skull Mountain - backseat Windstorm - mid run drop The Boss - double down first drop Any SLC - first drop, I love how you end up whipping around the tight curve banked almost completely sideways Dudley Do-Right - yeah, it's a flume, but god that drop scared me PKD Grizzly - the tunnel drop (well, it's more of a tiny hop) PKD Anaconda - I'm alone here, but I just love the first drop Mamba - second drop, goes below grade, extreme air SFA Superman - third hill/drop, probably the most extreme moment of air on any coaster I've ridden /user goes blank That's all can think of right now. -kip-
