  1. ^hmmmm...that's funny, I heard a rumor that Shane's Amusement Attic was the most viewed topic of 2008. All without the blatant boob shots. lol Guess we will have to wait and see
  2. I would get rid of all tacky corporate sponsors and franchised restaurants. One of the things that makes Busch and Disney unique experiences is not seeing a Subway or Panda Express around every corner. Six Flags is like going to a strip mall with rides.
  3. I am going just for the Stunt Show Roadies!!!! So that is why it is called "Hard Rock" park!!!
  4. I really like the end tunnel on Big Thunder Mountain at Paris Disneyland, you get hauling some "A" in that thing!!!
  5. I heard a rumor that they are building a new water park in Salt Lake City and it will have the largest water play structure in the world! Yes, even bigger than Hersheyparks!
  6. Not really....This type of lift is a proven technology (It is a first for Intamin, but Mack have done it on a number of rides) And I'm fairly certain that Intamin have done something similar with their raft rides before. --Robb Robb- I think this is a first for Intamin, I am fairly certain that this lift style has only been done by Mack, But you have been to more parks than I have so have you seen an Intamin lift like this? Also this ride looks awesome! and I think this officially marks HolidayWorld's arrival to the ranks of the "big boy's club" Lagoon, are you watching???
  7. I am interested to know where the Intamin Free Fall was relocated from, do you know? Geauga Lake? AstroWorld? Thanks for sharing pictures of the park. The Rapids Ride looks GREAT! -Shane
  8. ^ Oh Ron, you must have misunderstood my post. I meant that because of your small physique it must be "obviously" easier to sleep on the bottom bunk, rather than climbing that ladder to the top...what did you think I meant???? XOXOXO
  9. ^well at least you tried to be a top...but you are obviously a bottom...lol
  10. I was so excited to see Scott's Amusement Closet back up at the top again. I was hoping for some juicy bit of Roller Coaster history... I sure hope that your closet is not empty and is still full of historical goodness!!! PS- Mexico City???
  11. Where is this place? It really looks "questionable"
  12. ^ Not sure what coaster it is, but it is not the Swamp Fox at Family Kingdom....that is some creepy footage. I wish they made junior coasters that long. That ride seems longer than the Beast.
  13. That's not really a fair statement. Those two coasters you mentioned where not torn down because they didn't perform well. It is more of the parks they where in did not perform well. Had those coasters been in parks that are still operating, my guess is they would still be standing. And as for Megazeph...it did survive one of the nations greatest natural disasters...I'd say that performed pretty well!
  14. I keep my dead bodies in the basement and of course there are plenty of "skeletons in the closet"
  15. This is the best thing to happen to Magic Mountain since the Revolution!
  16. even better would be "Boomerang: coast to coaster" that has got to be the dumbest name ever for a coaster Sounds like a sure thing!
  17. ^take it from the expert
  18. I am betting they go with "Flight Deck" since they haven't used that brilliant name yet at the park. PS. We need the brilliance of David Mandt back at the park!
  19. I think the reason they don't use those curved lifts anymore is due to the extra maintenance. The curve lifts are mostly friction tires and there is a lot of parts and motors to keep an eye on. My memory tells me that Anton did make a curved lift hill with a chain...maybe the Jet Coaster in Sweden???? Scott can you clarify this? I must say I am a little disappointed that Anton's son did not do more with his father's company. It seems that the company died with the man that founded it. What a total shame. How does the weekend of October 17th sound for a Mexico City Anton Coaster run sound? Anyone that wants to join is welcome. -Shane
  20. This is great news. I have really become accustomed to these electronic flash passes and have found myself planning my trips around parks that use them. I certainly hope they will now include X2, Ninja & Superman. I am not even going to ask for Deja Vu...they ought to just make that ride an upchage ride, I think it gets about equal capacity as a Sky Coaster.
  21. MORE SCHWARZKOPF Boy it is really good to hear from all of you again...Ron, Tatum, Mark, Bill, Den Den, Scott, and the rest. "Little Coaster Girl" thanks for the great post from Knoebels. I love to see what others have from their collection. Schwarzkopf rides have always been favorites of mine. It might be because from the first time I saw the Revolution at Magic Mountain I became obsessed with coasters or it simply may be because every Schwarzkopf ride is GREAT. The amazing things about these rides is they were great when they opened and they are still great after all these years. I took my kids to Magic Mountain last week for their first time. We rode X2, Tatsu (which I lost my camera on...ugh!) Riddler, Batman, Goliath and all the others (except Superman & Deja Vu). Out of all those huge rides at Magic Mountain their favorite ride was the Revolution. And to this day if I were given the choice to ride some of the new rides or Montezooma's Revenge I would chose the simple shuttle loop (El Toro is the one exception) His rides are not only thrilling, sleek and smooth, they are great looking too. Here are a few more of Anton's great creations from the German Fair circuit. -Shane PS- Mexico City sounds like a great idea! This could have been the Big Bad Wolf Scott- this is a post card you sent me years ago. On the back you rub it in my face that you are over in Germany riding Scwarzkopf while I am studying for college exams...I miss those days lol I have yet to ride this one "beautiful" this ride was supposed to be moved to Circu World along with the Weiner Looping, but the park was sold to HBJ and transformed to B&B. Another one of Antons great creations. even with no inversions his rides ROCK. I was lucky to ride this coaster several times at a German Fair in Stuttgart. Here is the transportable version of the Scorpion at Busch Gardens Tampa. A small ride but IMO better than some rides twice its size.
  22. I love it! This has to be one of the cooler coaster logos to come along in a while! The ride looks great and I like the name too. It is enough to get me back to the Island in 09
  23. Anton Schwarzkopf Here is the second catalog I have. From the looks of this, I need to give my scanner a good cleaning, sorry about that I sure with Six Flags over Texas would get retro with the ShockWave the way that Magic Mountain has done with the Revolution. It looked so good when it first opened all bright white with those brilliant blue trains! This is one Schwarzkopf ride I am dying to ride I have now riden every shuttle loop except for the two originals. I need to take a trip to Africa and Brazil. Montezooma is still the best!
  24. Summer Bonus Post Hey TPR-ers- I hope all of your summers have been as good as mine. I have been busy hitting several parks with my kids; SFMM (love the retro Revolution trains), SFGAdv (LOVE El Toro!!!!), Hersheypark (ehh Fahrenheit was just ok but love the park), Legoland (my kids still love legos) and Lagoon (hey it is my home park). We have also been incorporating other activities into our summer vacations such as Comic Con, River Rafting, Mountain Biking, camping and boogey boarding at the beach. Of course the highlight of my Summer was the TPR trip to Europe!!!!! (thanks Robb & Elissa) I had such a great time and visited some really great parks with great friends. One thing I have really missed this summer is posting to Shane’s Amusement Attic. I am thrilled to see that this thread has made it into the top 20 most visited! So as a summer bonus, here is one of my most favorite things I have in my attic: 2 Schwarzkopf ride catalogs. ANTON ROCKS! I have one big trip planned for the end of the summer: Canada’s Wonderland, Darien Lake and Niagara Falls. Then I will be back with Season 2 and weekly updates to the attic. I am gonna start off with just a couple of quick shots of summer fun then the Schwarzkopf goodness. Hope you enjoy and keep the comments coming. I am not as big of a attention whore as Big Mike (lol) but still love to here your thoughts on items posted. Shane Now onto some Anton goodness. Me with Anton a long, long time ago and of course no trip to the mountains is complete without river rafting! Fisher does the ropes course mountain biking... Our summer travels also took us to the mountain resort of Sundance Utah. Legoland's new splash battle. I was dissapointed in this ride compared to some of the others I saw over in Europe West & Fisher are like their dad, they like the old-school coasters. We had a GREAT day at Magic Mountain, even with the 2 hour wait for X2. I gotta say it again I love the retro Revolution train! an Elvis stormtrooper makes an appearance at Comic Con in San Diego Me and my sons West & Fisher attend our first Comic Con. Lets just say it was "interesting"
  25. Tatum- Great trip report. I loved seeing pictures of this park that is rarely talked about. Are you going to post any pictures of the waterpark? I would like to see that also. The Spider is an Eyerly Aircraft creation. I just so happen to have the flyer of the ride up in my attic...here it is.
