Thanks RIP Cyclone. I was wondering when you would chime in. I always like reading your comments! Oh Boy have I got some good stuff coming up. Sometimes I want to just post it all but I must stretch it out to last an entire season and possibly for a third season. -

^ I don't care what anybody says, SDL is the best coaster in that park. Well Lightning Racers is pretty good too. So lets call it a tie! -

This is something I forgot to post in the Hersheypark post but felt it needed to be added. So put back on your "Hersheypark hats" and enjoy this splendid picture of sooperdooperLooper naked (by that I mean it is not covered in Great Bear) -
I completely disagree. I have been a guest who has been coming for years for "free" but never bothered with the mazes because I didn't want to stand in the long line. This year the $5 wristband enabled me to do mazes I had never done before because it reduced the wait in line. Brutal Planet and Warehouse 13 were both new to me and I hadn't been in Joksters or Willoughby's in about 8 years. So it was well worth the $1 per maze to take a run through each one without having to wait in line. I think it's fair to say that no matter what they decide to charge for, someone is going to complain. It really comes down to this - if you don't feel it's worth $15 for parking, $5 for a maze wristband, or $1 for a locker - DON'T GO. And you probably shouldn't be going to sporting events, concerts, county fairs, movies, or any other theme park for that matter because you're going to get charged extra for stuff there too.... My recommendation to you if you want to save those extra bucks is STAY AT HOME! Don't go ANYWHERE! Don't get DirecTV. Don't get NetFlix. Don't spend ANY money on entertainment. Take up knitting and crochet. I hear that you can get yarn REALLY cheap at most discount stores. --Robb "It's embarrassing that anyone on this forum would make a big deal over $5." Alvey I love it!!! totally agree and couldn't have said it better!!!!!

This Demon logo is weak compared to that of the Screamin Demon. Also I am not sure why they changed the name from Screamin Demon to just plain Demon. Must have been the start of the KI decline. This was my first Arrow Shuttle Loop. I really liked the color transition in the loop and the lighting package was guite impressive but compared to the Schwarzkopf model it fails to impress. I still love it just for nostalgic sake. Plus walking up and down all those stairs really helped firm up my a$$ -

I found something in my collection that fits your SCAREadise theme. It fits it for two reasons...first, they are all scary creatures and great logos but what is even scarier is that only one of the three has survived...BOO! I am almost having more fun in this thread than in my attic thread. Please keep these rare old postcards coming!!! PS. How great is that Screamin Demon logo?!?!?! I am lucky to have all three of these credits!!! -

That Rail Blazer postcard is Great! You really don't see too many pictures of that ride in its stand-up incarnation! That sure was a BAD idea! Restoca, I am loving your postcard collection. Thanks for sharing! Mark- I don't have any Halloween postcards so I am really looking forward to seeing the SCAREadise series! -

Song of the Phoenix Here's a little nugget to get your weekend started on the right foot. The first entry from my Retro VCR collection is this little diddy about the Phoenix. Crank the volume and really enjoy this one, the lyrics are nothing short of brilliant. Now some of the things I have in my Retro VCR I have no idea where they came from. I had even forgotten I had them until I went through old tapes and found them. So I don't know who this singer is when it was recorded and if it ever hit the Top 10, otherwise I would gladly give him credit for this gem. Fly with the Phoenix! PS- Youtube is not the best quality for viewing these video clips, anyone have any tips on how to post video in a better format? -

Although this is not a post card, this greeting card i found is amusement related and quite hillarious. The photo comes from the floral clock at Kings Island. Back in the 70's it was a must photo op for all visitors. the inside...we may never know the answer. This is everyone's mom back in the 70's...you know it's true! -

Interesting thread Will. I like to see creative variations on trip reports and this certainly is that. I found all the monorails very interesting. I made it a point to ride all of them while on the trip. I did miss the Snail one at Eftling. Can't wait to see more curiosities! -

Yes, the speed does seem a little fast. I guess that is what happens when you transfer film to digital. Anyways if that ride really went that fast I am sure you would see brakes all over it. Revolution however, did travel at quite a speed and that is why you see brakes all over it. I sure think those Schwarzkopf open lattice loops are beautiful!!!! -

There is a lot of LOVE for Hersheypark, I am glad that so many of you enjoyed the first post of Season 2. I really debated what I wanted to start with but it came down to the fact, that I really like Hersheypark and I like it just as much today as much as I did when I first went there. Of course I wish the SooperDooperLooper was still white and not buried in the Great Bear, but overall this park has maintained it's charm while at the same time growing into a major park with some really great rides and attractions. I believe one of the reasons that the Comet had such a high capacity back then was because they did not check lap bars at that time. You basically got in, pulled the lap bar down and checked it yourself. The individual lap bar checking routine started up after the Lightnin' Loops accident at Six Flags Great Adventure. Intamin did play a part in the developement of the SooperDooperLooper, they were the American broker for Schwarzkopf. That is the arrangement they had at the time. Intamin would market & sell the rides but they were Anton's designs and the rides and trains were built in his factory. That is why most of the custom Schwarzkopf coasters in the states also list Intamin as the manufacturer. -

WOW! I love that post card from Circus World. You don't really see any pictures of that ride when it was located in Florida. I had the chance to ride it at that park and it was just so intense that it caused me to black out. Great, Great find!!! Mark, that schwarzkopf coaster at CNE was the Doopel Looping that was relocated to Florida. I believe it is now headed back over to Europe to do the fair circuit. Here is a look at it when it was at CNE. -

Here's a great postcard I got when I went to CNE in Toronto several years ago. Both coasters are gone now. I'm glad I got to ride the Flyer, although it was not real big on thrills it had a great old feel. -Shane -

"New Season, New Posts, New Logo...OLD STUFF!" Well it is time to start another season of Shaneās Amusement Attic. I had a great time going through my old park files and posting them here for all to enjoy last year and I am looking forward to even more great posts and your comments and discussion. This season I have gone through my old video collection and transferred much of it to digital, so along with some great retro looks at park brochures, souvenir books, photographs, press releases and manufacturers catalogs I will be adding a new feature I call Shaneās Retro VCR. This will include rare POVās I shot in super 8, newscasts and programs that all featured parks or coasters. If you missed any of the first season you can go back to page one of this post and check out the index and links to all the posts, there is also a brief list of some of the future posts I will be doing. Enjoy and as always thanks to Robb for supporting this post and to all those that post their thoughts, comments and memories. -Shane ps- I love this new thread Marks Postcard Paradise HERSHEYPARK 1980 So to start things off I have decided to look back at a park that I have recently grown to love. Hersheypark. This is a park with some great history and unlike some other theme parks that have lost much of their charm, Hersheypark seems to be getting better each year and with each new addition. This post takes us back to 1981, a time when the themed areas had different names (Odyssey Alley) Chocolate World had a completely different look and the SooperDooperLooper was ranked one of the top 4 coasters in the country. The Comet SooperDooperLooper So that is the end of the first post of Season 2. In this case, too much Chocolate has been a good thing! notice the Chance Toboggan in the background. Chocolate Town look a lot different today. This is a souvenir book from the park and the Hershey area This is a strange name for a themed area. and now a look at the parks layout and the themed areas of the time still a great coaster today! It seems most theme parks had some kind of cheesie costumed animal characters but I think a pink skunk takes the cake. both of these Intamin rides are both gone today. It is a shame they couldn't keep the Giant Wheel. this ride looks pretty much the same today as it did back then. you don't see any one of these three attractions in to many parks these days. Dolphin shows were big in the early 80's I think this "Krackle" character has been killed off and replaced with a walking "Kit Kat" bar the Coal Cracker, Arrow's first Hyrdo flume here are some postcards from around the park the park guide book 1981 Hersheypark celebrated it's 75th anniversary Marketing profile and interesting facts of the park Here is a list of rides and attractions at that time 1980 new attractions where an enterprise and pirate. and the Schwarzkopf "SooperDooperLooper" The Arrow "Trail Blazer" mine train... The Comet at the time Hersheypark coaster count was 3. Which was a large number for parks in that time. Ah Hersheypark and chocolate are both "sweet" -

Now this is some great stuff!!!! I have to say these pics top anything I have found in my attic. My collection pretty much stops at 1976. I really enjoy seeing these old pictures of Disneyland, and I can't wait to see what else you have from Busch Gardens. I am afraid the only thing I have from that long gone LA park are memories. Great job!!!! -

I've got a good one for the start of this new week. Here is a coaster you don't see everyday. It is that NAD woodie down in Mexico City. I'll be down there the end of October and maybe I can pick up a new post card as well as a parasite! MontaƱa Rusa at La Feria Chapultepec Magico -
