An Important Message from Shane's Amusement Attic: Congratulations to Big Mike for breaking the 200,000 views barrier. Yes it is a wonderful accomplishement, I remember when I hit 200,000 views months ago, it was a wonderful feeling! With that being said I must say that I love to razz Big Mike about being behind me in the ratings but it is NEVER mean spirited. We have a healthy competition going on and I have to say the winners are all those that click into our threads. I think this is a wonderful thread and I check into it daily as I am sure he does to mine (right Big Mike?) While I am currently ahead in the ratings I must give Big Mike credit for being in both the Top 20 views and the Top 20 comments. I have a long way to go before I break into that Top 20. (please feel free to leave more comments in "the attic" even if they are pointless...lol) Yes I am resorting to tricky gimmicks like my Kennywood Memories mini Series and a "Week long look at Knott's" and I will stoop to featuring the first "boobs" in the attic soon! But I see the same thing going on here (how about that poll about Big Mike's Road Trip Season 2, was that the biggest gimmick to get comments or what?) Congrats Big Mike! This comment was approved by me, Shane Huish

Here's a little "Shane" history...While going through old boxes in the attic tonight, I came across some old items that probably mean nothing to anyone but me, none the less I thought it would be fun to post them. I was so young when I started working in parks. It definitely is a GREAT industry to work in. Then Back to Six Flags (premier days) Then it was off to Paramount Parks. Honestly the best company I ever worked for!!!! We Care About You! a very young shane begins his career at Six Flags as a ride operator on the Sarajevo Bobsled opening crew -

Some guy from the Nashville PBS station has contacted me asking for old Opryland memorabilia and film footage. Looks like we will have an "Opryland Memories" documentary soon. -

Very clever name, the original three had great names, seems the "name pool" got rather shallow with the last two incarnations. Best to the worst: Texas Chute Out - Six Flags over Texas The Great Gasp - Six Flags over Georgia Sky Chuter - Six Flags over Mid-America Sky Jump - Knott's Berry Farm Parachuter's Perch - Six Flags Great Adventure. And now for todays submission...Mountain Express at Magic Mountain, my first coaster! -

That sounds great! I am going to have to pick me up a copy. That is one thing that sucks about these old retro VCR clips, the quality is quite poor, but that was technology for ya. I would love to see the old commercials. Thanks for the tip Yeti -

^yes I am sad to see it go just for nostalgic sake, but have to agree it was very dated, cramped and really didn't serve any purpose other than to ride a 1970's idealistic vision of transportation. BTW, I love that last picture, it has something for everyone. -

^DenDen, I posted this update just for you, I know how you love your old Kennywood!!! Also riding Laser Loop last week down in Mexico City may have had something to do with it, anyways Kennywood is a great park and I always enjoy looking back at its history and story. -

^WOW, I really like that post card (Two-Face). I like everything about that ride, well except for maybe the colors. It especially has a cool name and logo, shame they are taking it out. Anywho...here is another post card from me...Geronimo! The post card is from Six Flags Great Adventure but it is obviously the ride from Six Flags over Georgia -

Best coasters in Texas???
montezooma replied to thrillgeek's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For speed and great negative and positive g's try Greezed Lightnin' XLR-8 is pretty good for the second attempt at suspended coasters, it is better in the backwards facing cars. Texas Cyclone is not what it used to be but still a fun, nostalgic ride. Don't forget Viper a classic Schwarzkopf looper... ...oh wait, I forgot, scratch all that. No reason to go to Houston anymore. -

Stormrider- Thanks for posting that video, it is awesome. Please. Please, Please post the video with the Shuttle Loop. Unfortunately that is one I will never get to ride. I guess it disappeared when the park closed? Anyone know what happened to it? There were 4 shuttle loop coasters in Japan, two are still there and operating, I am not sure what happened to the other two. I missed the Ultra Twister at Tokyo Dome but I was able to ride the Arrow Shuttle Loop Coaster before it and Linear Gale after it. Bring on more video! -

That is such a great video clip! I really enjoyed watching that. Someone had some creative ideas, a rareity in Hollywood today. The next two postcards are a before and after. Wonder Mountain and International street as it was conceptualized and then, as it was realized. trivia question: Does anyone know why they built Wonder Mountain instead of the traditional Eiffel Tower at Kings Island and Kings Dominion? I love this post card, it is one of my most favorites in my collection -
