  1. I am going to run with this Euro-theme for a bit. Here is Euro-Mir. This was probablly one of my most fave rides on the TPR Europe trip. It stimulated all the senses, those of you that have ridden it know what I am talking about, those of you that havent ridden it....GO RIDE THIS RIDE! Also it is at one of the BEST parks in Europe! awesome soundtrack for this ride!
  2. ^Eric, funny you should mention that. I was responsible for the earlier color of Kong. I was the creative director for that park at the time and I thought orange and brown really tied in nicely with the name and them theme of the area. I did meet some resistance from the parks GM at the time (He was pretty vocal about it but my boss at SFI stood behind me). He felt the same way as you which would explain why after I moved on from that park and it came time to repaint the ride, the orange and brown where replaced by the clownish colors of Red and Yellow. And there is the story and history of Kong's colors. -Shane PS- Someday I'll tell you the story of Medusa's colors....that one is a doosey!
  3. While we are on the subject or European parks...here is one that we rode on our European TPR trip this past summer. This postcard is obviously from earlier years as The Python at Eftling is now on it's third set of trains. This postcard shows the original trains. Python double loop corkscrew Vekoma coaster at Eftling
  4. In that case, here are a few more reasons to visit Kennywood. Are those pictures you took yorself? They are awesome! I like those dusk shots with all the shinny lights! Thanks for adding those!
  5. ^ you spoke too soon Big Mike, The Kennywood Memories mini-series IS NOT OVER YET! Yes just this morning my DVD version arrived in the mail so I am pleased to present KENNYWOOD MEMORIES BONUS MATERIAL Part 1 KENNYWOOD MEMORIES BONUS MATERIAL Part 2
  6. Yes! Those Kennywood fries are one more reason to get out to this park first part of the season! I must get to Kennywood right after HRP and WWW
  7. Here is my POV of both coasters that were at the CNE, the Doppel Looping and the Flyer.
  8. Thanks for keeping track Big Mike, Boy I had no idea what "ratings gold" the mini-series would be. KENNYWOOD MEMORIES Part 6 I am sorry to post the last installment of Kennywood Memories so late, but as mentioned I drove in to LA last night to see Ben Fold (Best concert ever!!!!). Traffic in and around LA was crazy due to all the fires so I got home much later than expected. Here is the conclusion of Kennywood Memories. This program was great fun to watch and after watching it and seeing all the great postcards over in Mark's postcard paradise I know Kennywood is going to be on my list of parks to visit in 09'...it has been too long! click on links below to see Kennywood Memories: Part 1 Kennywood Memories: Part 2 Kennywood Memories: Part 3 Kennywood Memories: Part 4 Kennywood Memories: Part 5 Kennywood Memories: Part 6 Kennywood Memories: Part 7 Also...if you are enjoying "Kennywood Memories" click on over to Mark's Postcard Paradise to enjoy a few Kennywood post cards from mine and others collections.
  9. ^Boy, just when I thought the Zipper couldn't get any worse... Great post Scott, I really liked seeing those old Great American Scream Machine cars sitting idle in the old field. I did get a chance to ride both the Flyer and Screechin Eagle (have you seen my POV of the Flyer on youtube?) They were both Awesome rides! The Eagle was better IMO. As you know I just got back from Mexico City where I rode the MOTHER of all NADs! Montana Rusa. It still has some wild, violent pops of air and looked as beautiful as ever. Problem was they were only running ONE train on a busy day (that is one train for both tracks not one on each side). Dispatches where about every 10 minutes. Still a great ride and worth the trip to Mex to ride it! Shane
  10. ^^ That one is EPIC! I would gladly take second place to that one! Great Work. SO FUNNY! (Joey please don't ban me for using caps I just want to emphasize how funny I think entry is)
  11. Yes it has been kind of a nice tie-in. Unfortunately the Kennywood Memories mini-series ends tomorrow and my Kennywood postcard collection ends today. But fear not my friends that does not mean my postcard collection is finished...I've got plenty more! Restoca- great Kennywood postcards btw! The final Kennywood installment from me: The Racer with the old, cool trains!
  12. ^ Thanks Sean for your comment, while I am not Katie Couric or Kelly Ripa, I am glad I have made your mornings more enjoyable. Programming Note: I am going to a Ben Folds Concert tonight, so I expect that the final installment may not be so early tomorrow, it may be an evening edition. Thanks everyone for tuning in!
  13. ^^ Creativity A+ Graphics A+ Originality A+ Participation A+ Citizenship U
  14. KENNYWOOD MEMORIES Part 6 They say the Thunderbolt is the heart of Kennywood but the Carousel is it's soul. This is my favorite segment of this program. Part 6 really focuses on what Kennywood is famous for...the Coasters. The Racer, Thunderbolt and even the "3...2...1...GO!" Laser Loop! click on links below to see Kennywood Memories: Part 1 Kennywood Memories: Part 2 Kennywood Memories: Part 3 Kennywood Memories: Part 4 Kennywood Memories: Part 5 Kennywood Memories: Part 6 PS- I am sorry to say that the audio cuts out for a little bit towards the end. That is what happens with video tape and many, many years Also...if you are enjoying "Kennywood Memories" click on over to Mark's Postcard Paradise to enjoy a few Kennywood post cards from mine and others collections.
  15. ^ take another hit dude....Mexico may border AZ, but Mexico City would be a long a$$ drive for you. That's like living in San Diego and going to Oregon cause it borders CA.
  16. I can always count on Steve!!! Good to hear from you, I hear you will be coming to our side of the pond soon, I expect I shall see you when you are in PS visiting Miles!
  17. I have always loved the name "pitt fall" for that ride. So clever! Here is more from Kennywood
  18. KENNYWOOD MEMORIES Part 5 I love a park that has it's own slang...do you know what it means when someone says, "Kennywood's open?" Well put on your best 1980 "mall bangs" and join me as we look at this installment of Kennywood Memories. What is it like to be Kenny Kangaroo? What does Naomi Jones do with all those lost articles? What are Italian days and where is all this "necking" taking place? All these questions and more will be answered in Kennywood Memories Part 5. What I want to know is what are these kids teaching Naomi???? click on links below to see Kennywood Memories: Part 1 Kennywood Memories: Part 2 Kennywood Memories: Part 3 Kennywood Memories: Part 4 Kennywood Memories: Part 5 Also...if you are enjoying "Kennywood Memories" click on over to Mark's Postcard Paradise to enjoy a few Kennywood post cards from mine and others collections.
  19. Yes Mark you are still alive in 2028, but I hate to tell you that you live with 18 cats all of which are named George. George I, George II, George III, etc. You might have been better off dead. Me-OWW!
  20. ^I honestly don't want the passes. I just entered for the fun of it. So I officially withdraw my entry for the prize. Don't get me wrong, if everyone votes and I am the winner, I would love the recognition but the prize really is a none issue for me. So keep the entries coming, I love to see everyone's creativity and ideas and even if my entry wins I would pass my prize to the first runner up. (I learned in pagent school that a gracious winner passes the prize to the first runner up) After all, WWJBD? (what would Jon Bonet Do?) -Shane PS- my vote goes to DegoRed's Manta / Mantis mix up
  21. Lower standards? Lower standards??? How about NO standards! I love this place I want to go
  22. it says Montreal, Canada, USA. The joke is: in 2028 Canada will be another State...get it???
  23. ^ well I don't agree with that. If you go back to page one of this thread there is a very detailed table of contents. It is easy to find anything that I have posted. If I were to divide all my collection into different threads it would be difficult to find something you might be looking for....but thanks for playing. Now for all of you faithful readers of my thread I give you an exclusive look at my first and official photo shop Manta contest. Of course I follow the theme of my thread. Here is what Shane's Amusement Attic will be like in Season 20!
  24. Here is my first and offical entry. Shane's Amusement Attic in 20 years takes a look at the construction of Manta... "my other car is a Vekoma Boomerang"
  25. ^that makes me laugh. I thought it, you said it! I do try and keep my pointless comments to a minimum here. I let the information do all the talking.
