I would've liked to see what commercials from back then looked like. surely they were better than todays commercials are. since when does flight deck, and son of Beast belong at carowinds?!?!?!? Iron dragon: fly at the speed of fright uhh, 10 mph?? 600th post While I think it is wrong to use other coasters that are not in the park that the commercial are for (i.e Flight Deck & Son of Beast for Carowinds) I understand why it happens when the park is part of corporation that owns more than one park. There must be a great amount of savings in only producing one commercial that uses generic shots of rides and then changing the logo at the end of the commercial. I just saw a commercial for Wild Waves in Seattle and they were using shots of the Texas Giant. Now the Texas Giant is not even part of the group that owns Wild Waves. Should a park be able to use just any ride out there in the ads????? I am just saying... -

^ the name and the commercials where about the only good things about this ride. Where did they go wrong with Psyclone? All the other replications of the original turned out ok. -

Too bad John Allen didn't build a clone of Mr Twister, then we would have had a back up. -
I absolutely LOVE the flash pass at Six Flags Fiesta Texas and think the front seat thing is just icing on the cake. We enthusiasts pay hundreds even thousands of dollars to travel across the country and ride rides. It only makes sense to pay a little more and have the lines eliminated. I flew my family to San Antonio to visit SFFT and SWT over spring break. Both parks were very crowded but at Fiesta Texas I was able to buy the gold Flash Pass and we never waited more than 10 minutes to get on a ride. We could plan our rides around the show times and we had a wonderfull day and did all the things we wanted. It was a different story at Sea World. The crowds were huge and the lines were long. We missed all the show times because we were in line to ride the rides. So without a Flash Pass system we were able to ride 5 rides and see one show. Needless to say our trip to Fiesta Texas was WAY better than Sea World. In the scheme of the whole trip an extra $140 dollars wasn't really a big deal but it sure made our trip to Fiesta Texas GREAT!

^no, they had a water ski show on Mystic Lake, the dolphin show was in the aqua theater which is now the Batman stunt show theater. And even before that El Bumpo occupied that space. -

Scott- How similar is the layout to the Screamin Eagle? Did it make that 90 degree dog leg turn or was it simply and out an backer that crossed over the bottom of the lift? I would love to see a layout. I am not sure why but I have always had a strange fascination with the Screamin Eagle. I think it is a beautiful coaster, at least when it was all nicely painted, and it makes such a beautiful back drop to SFSL. -

^ yes, I believe the only way to get there was by ferry. Sadly I never had the chance to visit the park. -

Here's my 2 cents... Never gonna happen, but for if some unexplainable reason it does get out there the first year cause it wont be around for long. - Shane "who worked for six flags when they aquired the park and was privy to the numbers" Huish -

Please help me, I finally found a computer that works! I'm locked somewhere underneath the castle, it's very dark and I haven't had anything to eat but week old turkey legs for the last week. There's some very cold equipment down here with a frozen chamber next to it, I think it's a little more than head sized, and... Hilarious! Wow you are smart, funny and if you look good in those old Matterhorn lederhosen costumes you got it all! -

Great photos. I especially enjoyed seeing the ones taken from the sky tower or space spiral or what ever it is called. I remember going to Cedar Point back then, it had great atmosphere and the park had like 4 roller coasters. Imagine that 4 roller coasters at one park! Amazing. -

Six Flags These two commercials are back from the Time Warner days when they ran commercials nationally and they had the balls to compare themselves to Disney. I laugh when they show the two dogs side by side and the Six Flags dog is rolling around free out in the sun and the Disney dog is caged up in a dark kennel. A little bit of me dies everytime I see AstroWorld pop up on the national map of locations. Damn you old Six Flags management..Damn you! Six Flags "a dogs view" -

^I am hoping so. I was loving learning about this coaster, tons of GREAT info...then all the sudden nothing. It is just like my friend that told me how the ballroom in the haunted house worked. I never heard from him again either. Coincidence??? I don't think so. -

We haven't heard much from Alpenguy lately... do you think Disney "did" something to him since he revealed to many of the Matterhorn secrets? -

Scott- I love the post on Lakeside. You really can see the similarities between the Shooting Star and the Screamin Eagle in that first picture. I really miss the days of the red, white and blue painted wood coasters. PS- I think the Weiner Looping should go to Lagoon in Salt Lake City -

Yee Haw! There's parks in them thar hills! Here's a couple commercials from some Hillbilly Parks... Silver Dollar City ...and here is proof that Dogatch USA was actually more than just a Hillbilly legend. Check out the entertainment lineup the park offered: Alvin, Batman (the cheesy one) and the ever regal BOZO. There is also a quick shot on of a truly unique lost credit Dogpatch USA -

Great commercial, but there is so much emphasis put on "Busch!" that it almost makes me uncomfortable.
