  1. That would suck! It would be like being a great chef and not being able to taste.
  2. Knott's Berry Farm Once you're there....If you Dare.... It's all at Knott's Berry Farm....That's where it is!
  3. Just to clarify a little. Six Flags did not use Intamin Bobsleds as a replacement from the Arrow ones. There was several (5-6) years in between the scrapping of the Arrow prototype and the Intamin interpretation. Arrow used a fiberglass trough, you can see a section of it here in this picture. I love seeing Arrow prototypes I would love to go thru their old files. I wonder if all that stuff is stored up in the S&S plant or if it has all been lost?
  4. Here is that picture of the suspended corkscrew... Scott- theses are great pictures. I have never seen pictures like that of the flying turns or the looping suspended coaster. I think that the flying turns is one ugly sucker. It seems they did not take asthetics into consideration when they started designing that thing. Kind or reminds me of all the supports on Volcano. The story I heard with the Flying Turns is that Six Flags did place an order for several Flying Turns with the first one to be installed at SFOT. They even removed the Big Bend to make way for it. When Arrow couldn't control the ride in a way that Six Flags expected it they cancelled the order and Arrow ended up scrapping the ride.
  5. Top Thrill Dragster- Thanks for adding to this post. Great Commercial, is that Keifer Sutherland at the end? lol Anyone else have any commercials? Please feel free to add them and I will add them to the list on page 56 -Shane
  6. There is a whole thread here that discusses the many theories why the pipeline never came to be... Olsor, keep the videos coming. I hope you have a big shoebox! Very interesting stuff. -Shane
  7. INDIANA JONE'S ADVENTURE It's more than a RIDE...It's REAL Now your fears have a name.
  8. LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! What a find to have footage of the pipeline actually running! One question...Is it called "The Colossus" or just "Colossus"?
  9. I guess it all has to do with bad planning. Just like when I drove to Charlotte on a Friday so I could ride White Lightnin'. Never in a million years would I have guessed that a theme park would have been closed on a Friday in the middle of summer. But Carowinds was and I never got to ride White Lightnin'
  10. "Hi my name is Shane, and I am addicted to this thread." Keep Coming Back
  11. ^ I can't believe the stuff I have seen and learned since these "attic, closet, shoebox and the Matterhorn" threads have started up. I thought I had a lot of good stuff in my collection but I have seem some really great stuff that I have never seen or knew. Thanks everyone for adding comments, photos, or videos to these threads. Sharing your collections with other enthusiats is far better than letting the mice poo on them in shoeboxes!!!
  12. Well as luck would have it you can take one last ride on the Doppel Looping... Well actually this was when the ride was located a little more north, at the CNE. And as a bonus you can also got a POV ride on the Flyer. The great woody that is also no more.
  13. More here on the destruction of the Ocean View Rocket, the Roller Coaster that wouldn't Die. This article comes from Charles J. Jacques, Jr's "Amusement Park Journal" These old magazines have a wealth of great historical stuff in them. I am so glad I saved them I am enjoying reading them all over again. Russell if you are reading this I hope you are enjoying all this Rocket stuff!
  14. WESTCOT I know, I know, here I go again. Always bringing up the past. My attic seems to have something on every thread. Remember when DCA was going to be WESTCOT? Well if not here is the article that talks all about it. I have to pose the question, would it have been better? I honestly think Disney might have been in a worse postition if they had gone threw with this park concept....yawn
  15. Is no one going to comment on that strange quote in the Marriott BIO article? It is a classic! "...You wait hours and hours for that one wonderful minute..." Well I have just one thing to say....A flume ride doesn't even come close, not even Splash Mountain.
  16. I was just rewatching that commercial for MGM Grand, and it just goes to show you what a strange park that was. The park admission was included with purchase of a Sky Screamer flight. So you pay for one ride and get the whole park free. Rather than pay to get into the park and then get the rides free.
  17. THUNDER RUN Take everything you see....and TWIST it! It's Enough to make you Scream!
  18. Again, Great Stuff to be posting here. I love seeing all this stuff. While on the subject of safety, I have a couple of videos here to share that report on some of the accidents... Rail Blazer Enterprise Great Air Racer Lightnin' Loops
  19. It seems like it would be a great addition to Holiday World. It is about time they get something that loops
  20. I have the sollution... Cedar Point "The Coater Capital of Ohio" Magic Mountain "The Coaster Capital of California" Canada's Wonderland "The Coaster Capital of Canada" or how about this... Cedar Point "The most coasters in the World" Magic Mountain "The Best Coasters in the World"
  21. Well if we have to lose a coaster at least we lose it to a good cause... ...I'm just sayin
  22. Now if I were to have to guess on the status of Das Monster I would say that it is not a Anton flat. Anton would never make anything that gaudy. You can see here from Anton's ride catalog that his version of the Polyp is quite different from the one at Circus World.
  23. WOW that UFO thing is a crazy contraption. I have seen drawings and models of such a ride at the IAAPA convention but never knew that there was a actual ride built. You can see here the concept advertised by IAD as the Rainbow. I have no idea who the mfg is of the UFO. This concept ride seems to be a little more refined than the UFO version.
  24. That is a great find. I had never seen that Beast commercial before. I was lucky enough to ride the Beast its first year and the ride was amazing. I am not sure if that just might have been because there wasn't a whole lot of other coasters out there at the time to compare it too... I do remember that if the park closed at 10:00 you had to get in line to get a night ride by 8:00 cause they closed the ride when the park closed. But boy those night rides where worth every second of waiting in line. The Beast is a classic! Here is some pretty good POV footage of the ride.
  25. Magnum XL-200 Even when you see it You won't believe it... ...Get to the PO!NT
