Worlds of Fun Well the park is bigger than the last one, but I am not sure about the advertising budget. I give this Worlds of Fun Commercial 3 slices of cheese on a scale of 1 to 5 slices. I love how all the logos back in this era sparkled! Bling Bling Break Away -

^ my recollection of the original Rattler, and I rode it over and over and over in its initial season, was nothing short of perfection. The first drop has to be one of my greatest recollections in my roller coaster history, the second double down drop was a great encore to the first. The triple helix, well that a dud, but besides that the ride was incredible. And I don't recall it being rough at all. I rode it again over spring break and it was very rough and not even close to the ride I rode back in 1992. Great Recollections in my Roller Coaster history 1. Revolution Loop 2. Rattler first drop 3. SFGAm Batman 4. Montezooma's Revenge's launch 5. 1st night ride on the Beast and of course I have a video from my attic from the Rattler's first season. -

Enchanted Forest Well not all the parks out there have the marketing budget of Six Flags or Disney, and to prove that point I give you Enchanted Forest... -

^ All of the ex Paramount racers were obviously designed to race since both sides of the tracks are equal. Do you think that Colossus was built with the intent to be a "racing" coaster or did they just make it double tracked to increase capacity? Maybe we have been complaining that they never race Colossus, but if it was built double tracked for capacity reasons then it basically is that same situation as the Matterhorn.... -

This commercial is from 1979, the first year that Six Flags took over hence the jingle "Six Flags is building a better mountain". I love seeing Colossus race! I grew up going to Magic Mountain and don't think I have ever seen the ride race, other than on TV commercials or promotional stuff. -

There used to be a fence, or barrier, that the cars broke through before they dropped into the first tunnel. That is what you see at the scene change from Wacky to Sea Dragon. There used to be all sorts of great theme elements too along the way climaxing in a Firework Factory explosion at the end of the ride. I believe, based on POV video I have of the ride, that most of the stuff was removed or put out of commission around 1988-1989. It is a guess, but an educated guess. -

Actually SFMM's Bobsleds ended up at SFoT. SFGAd's Bobsleds went to SFGAm and then to Great Escape. Opryland's went to a field in Indiana to rust Cedar Points bobsleds are now a Disaster. The only Intamin Bobsled still in it's original location is the one at De Eftling. (and I guess you could count Cedar Points too) -

Well here they are. And while digging in my photo shoebox that is in my attic closet I also came across these momentos from that opening year of Sarejevo Bobsled. I also came across a bunch of stuff from my days of working at the parks, that will have to be a whole other post over in the attic one day. and here is a little souvenir from the Bobsled panel and here is my old park ID. I look so young back then. and here is the button that they made us where that year. "We care about you" was the big campaign back then. It was needed coming off of several years of bad guest comments. I think most of those comments stemmed from the Great Adventure park. and here is my name tag and here is me and my girls modeling the sexy outfits...HOT in an alpine kind of way. Well here is the sexy ride.... -

Here is the ride in its early season. You can clearly see that it was grey. They trains where silver but they had that rainbow stripe from the front of the train to the back. Love the shorts and socks look! God did we really dress like that and think it looked good???? -

I rode Mindbender in its opening season and it was grey. I also rode it when it was tan and brown and again with its final color scheme. I have never seen it a metalic green color. I think the printing colors must be off in your copy of Roller Coaster Fever -

It looks to me like they had two completely different prototypes of the suspended coaster. The track layout and track design is completely different in the pictures from the track in the video. -

Doesn't that Knott's Wacky commercial make you sad for the Parachute Jump? That is such a great shot with the Soap Box Racers in the front and all the parachutes dropping in the background. -

No commercials for Riverside, but I do have some print materials, press releases and brochures from the park. I have not scanned any of it in yet and have quite a bit more to post before I get to it. So the answer is yes...but you will have to be patient for me to post it. sorry And if you think those are cheezy, you've seen nothing yet! -

I am pretty sure that Arrow scrapped the idea in the late 70's. Big bend was taken out in 78 so my guess would be that the plug was pulled sometime around then. I think that was also the time when they closed up the Mountain View plant and moved the whole operation to Utah. As Eric said, Sarajevo Bobsled opened in 1984 at Magic Mountain the exact same ride also opened that year at Six Flags Great Adventure and Opryland (Screamin Delta Demon). As a teen I was on the opening crew of Sarajevo Bobsled at SFMM and I can tell you that you are not the only one that is not a fan of the ride. Most of the GP hated it too (but they loved our ride outfits). When they got off of it most were really disapointed. "That's it????" "That Sucked!!" & "Well, that wasn't worth the wait" were common GP comments. It is no wonder that ride only lasted 2 years at the park.
