  1. I am pretty sure it was moved from Germany. The Loop portion of the ride was set up in the Germany plant and all testing was done there. It was then disassembled and transported to Magic Mountain and constructed there.
  2. "To design a coaster", he says, "you just have to think of a pretzel..." Just think, we owe the thrill of todays upside down coasters to pretzels and coat hangers.
  3. Man that is such a SWEET hotel. While I am not a fan of Gaylord and I boycott the OpryMills, I can't resist the charm of this hotel. It is absolutely beautiful. I too am a waterfall enthusiast but more so a "fake waterfall" enthusiast. I am fascinated by artificial rockwork!
  4. Well here is the answer... Yes, it is the Great American Revolution, not at Magic Mountain but at Schwarzkopfs plant in Germany. I thought it was a fascinating picture to see the loop of this great ride without the Valencia Falls behind it or the track threading it. It is the Revolution "naked". So many years ago they had to actually build the ride elements, support them on wood trusses and do testing to make sure they actually worked. Roller Coasters sure have come a long way. Here are some more pictures and an article about Shwarzkopf. Sorry about the corner piece missing, theses things happen.
  5. Well here is something I just dug out of the attic... Can you name this coaster???
  6. Great pictures. I had no idea that there were bits and pieces left of the park, I thought they had leveled the whole thing. Grizzly River Rampage was a great river ride. Those first generation Intamin Rapids were the best. I worked opening crew on Thunder River at AstroWorld and the boats would jam up all the time. We had to run out to the rafts and jump up and down on them to break them apart. Sometimes we fell in and ended up shooting the rapids...Good times! I understand that Grizzly River had some of the same problems. I rode it in its initial season and loved it. Thanks for those pics
  7. I haven't been this disappointed since Mean Streak
  8. ^^Thank you title fairy! I like it...what does it mean?
  9. I had no idea it was in storage, I thought they just demo'd it. I would think that since it has been in storage this long chances aren't looking so great for it to see the light of day again
  10. yes, it is definitely not Hangman, it looks like El Condor the first SLC
  11. 5/4/08: Kennywood update on page 12 Kennywood fans! Check out this super 8 film footage of the Andy Vettle designed Family Coaster, the "Dipper" It was removed from Kennywood in 1984 to make way for the Rapids Ride.
  12. Here is another short clip I found from the park. It is from a program on E! that was called "Theme Parks a Go-Go" It shows several of the rides including the Hangman, but those that truly know Opryland will notice something...
  13. Well I finally find myself worthy to stand before the fairy on bended knees, (hmmm seems I've been in that position before) but this time it is to ask for a custom title. So how bout it????
  14. Hey Michael- Thanks for that link, I can't believe all that stuff is still there. That was a great photo trip report and I can't wait to see what you find there today. It is such a shame what happened to this place! But it does leave Nashville an open market for a new theme park. With the opening of Hard Rock Park I am hoping it will spark a new interest in building new parks in viable markets such as Nashville & Houston. Yes please post anything you want to this thread. Since you did yesterday and it brought it back to the top from the bowels of pages 5 or lower, it reminded me that I had this bit on the Screamin' Delta Demon to post....
  15. Hey, not rude at all, I am glad you posted this. I had no idea there was any shred left of the park. I am surprised to hear that Grizzly River Rampage is still there. I would love to see pictures of the state the ride is now. Please post pictures here of what you find tomorrow. ^^ I have no idea what that post is about. cereal box? ball crawl??
  16. Maybe in the profile could be a list with links to threads that they have started For instance lets say that I always find "Brownstreaks" threads interesting. (I use that profile name for example because it is one that haunts me and conjures up unwanted images..lol) I could go to his profile and see a list of all the threads he has started and then I could click on them.
  17. Oops, I forgot one last commercial. How appropriate it be this one, a great note to end on... Elitch Gardens The Original "100 Years Worth of FUN"...and now it's gone
  18. That was a great collection of brake handles, I have to admit I have a thing for that too. It sure is a rarity these days to see those around. I too have ridden the Scenic Railway at Dreamland as well as the one (I don't know how to spell it) at Tivoli in Denmark. I remember seeing that for the first time and thinking WTF? I never even knew such a thing existed until I saw it in person way back in 1980. What a cool job that would be...you actually get paid to ride a roller coaster!
  19. Scott- If you have this "thing" for the brake handles that are in the station...How do you feel about the coasters that actually have the brake person that rides along on the coaster train??? I'm just sayin... -Shane
  20. PARK COMMERCIALS FINALE Well it is the end of April and I have reached the end of my collection of park commercials. Here are the last eight I have, I am calling it the finale kind of like at the end of a firework show when they shoot off a bunch at the same time and we all go "ooooh...awwww" Thanks everyone for checking and viewing all these commercials and thanks to those of you who added your own. I really enjoyed seeing them.. So with out further adue I give you "TV Commercial Finale"... ohhhhh.....awwwwww ooooh....awwwwww wow....awwwwwww starburst! oooooooh......awwwwww! OMG...love the shorts! awwwww...that's the end We now resume our regular programming
  21. Geauga Lake Wild Cat - Frontier City
  22. Now these are two of the cheesiest of the cheesy. First up is Story Land "Hooray" with the award winning campaign slogan that really sells the park...wait for it...."Lets keep walking!" Boy I wanna go there right now! Story Land Wonderland Here is how to produce a commercial for less than the price of admission!
  23. Viper at Six Flags over Georgia This ride ranked up there as one of the best themed off the shelf roller coaster. I think it is a shame that they had to remove this ride. It had the best looking train of all time! Six Flags over Texas This commercial for SFoT is full of warm fuzzies!!!
  24. The Ho-Down commercial is from 1982 back when it was cool to listen to TG Sheppard. I am not sure when the other commercial is from.
