Best and Lamest Coaster "Ending"
Airtime&Gravity replied to Teddymonster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Best: El Toro-Crazy airtime hills and highly banked turns taken at high speed make for a great ending Nitro-Nice floater air on the final hills delivered the best airtime on a B&M Worst: Kingda Ka-Good ride, but a camel back with no airtime wasn't the best way to end it.(an over bank after the hill(like MF) then brakes would be nice) -

While not great, La Ronde looks like a decent park, but hopefully SF can fix some of the problems there. Most of the rides there look like they came from a carnival(La Ronde was the amusement section of the 76 world's fair), but the attractions added in the last few years really seem to have helped the park. Nice photos, and hopefully I'll get a chance to go up there in a few years.

Wow, I just saw the news, and unlike most accidents,(where the rider did something stupid) I feel sympathy for the girl and family. I can't imagine what she(or the riders that were next to her) had to go through, and what was supposed to be fun turned into a tragic accident. As for the lawsuit that will soon come, I don't feel anger towards the family as they deserve compensation.(just not 40,000,000)

Elissa's Random Thought of the Day!
Airtime&Gravity replied to SharkTums's topic in Random, Random, Random
Good to hear you and Kristen are fine(shaken but not injured), but I seem to remember this happening at Sky Treck Tower last year to someone in front of me. Hopefully the ride op is reprimanded, and put on garbage duty. At least you did the right thing and went to guest relations instead of making a big scene though. -
I count it as a credit, and the only things I don't count are water coasters and powered coasters.

Elissa's Random Thought of the Day!
Airtime&Gravity replied to SharkTums's topic in Random, Random, Random
Wow, I'm gone for a week and when I return this is going on... I actually like this topic, and it is nice that we get to know what the owners thoughts are. I don't see what the big deal is, and when Scott K starts a site on the scale of TPR, then he can create have only one random topics at his site. I too, am interested in this thread, and what is being written here is better than most of what is in the other random thread. As for Elissa "breaking" the rules she enforces, she can do it because she runs the site. She could create a "Did you know Magnum is sinking topic", and I'd be perfectly fine with it. I'm sure most members don't have a problem with this topic, and if you don't like this topic Scott K, then don't post in it.(Did that just sound like something Robb or Wes would say?) -
Where should i go?
Airtime&Gravity replied to divyking's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Florida is probably not the best place in summer... I'd go to SFGADV. It has a great selection of coasters, the park is relatively small, but there is a lot to do, and the staff is great. While it can get crowded, I went Friday night, and the park was DEAD. If you go, I'd get a q-bot, because the lines can get very long, and you won't want to miss a single coaster. There is enough to do here to stay busy for 2 days, and if you want more, Astroland is just a 10 hour drive away. There is enough for any age group, and when you are done with coasters, the water park and safari are both decent. -

When you visit SFGADV, go on a Friday after 7 P.M. I did, and the longest wait was 20 minutes for El Toro. Everything else was a one train wait, and El Toro was a walk on later in the day.(and yes KK was open) -
Roughest coaster
Airtime&Gravity replied to jbuck's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The roughest coaster I've ridden is by far Predator at Darien Lake. The first time it wasn't so bad(rough, but had some airtime), but the second time it felt like the whole structure would fall apart. The train shook through the entire ride, and it made Hades(2006) seem smooth. I spent 40 minutes at that park(Ros was closed), and I hope both the park and coaster get some care though. The park seems like it could be nice, and if Predator is retracked, then it could be a decent ride. -

Predator at Darien Lake, and I broke 4 ribs, and got a severe case of whiplash riding it. I hope it has the same fate as Psyclone in its near future. Airtime-Burn it down-&Gravity -
WDW kidnapping

I saw this on CNN yesterday, and it's sad that it happened at WDW of all places. However, it is a good thing that the couple didn't get killed. -

Wicked on-ride video.
Airtime&Gravity replied to MrGeneric's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I really don't know what to think of this ride, but it still seems really fun. I don't get the vertical launch, and it seems so slow. Lagoon should have just put a faster first launch, or at least sped up the second launch since it seems to crawl over the top. The rest of the ride looks fun, and the zero-g roll seems like a great element on this ride. -

Great to see SFGAM finally getting everything open. The new stunt show looks great, and they finally got Deja vu and Sky Treck Tower working which are all good things. I haven't been to SFGAM in about a month, so hopefully things are still running well when I return. -

Store manager fights back against robbers
Airtime&Gravity replied to BarryH's topic in Random, Random, Random
^^The clerk won't go since it was self defense what you said, but I bet the family of the dead robber might try to get a wrongful death lawsuit. The police are looking to charge the dead teens accomplice with murder.
