  1. I call NOT aquatrax, its a halfpipe Well, I still do think VRTP should have put the thing in at SW, but I guess this could help attract more people to WnW over winter. And since it is fairly unique it will give WnW more of an edge over the newly opened White Water World down the road. I think a few years down the track people wont see it as odd anymore and we will wonder how we ever did without it. Regardless its still the same ride no matter where it ends up. And Rabid, you gotta donate a couple of your pics to RCDB, we cant have everyone unaware of our new ride, plus it will get WnW listed in RCDB.
  2. I'd make the dark ride section of Superman Escape look less cheap.
  3. Perhaps a good course of action to take would be to get the money together before asking them to buy it, and then hand the cash over and tell them you need it and that they have the money so its OK. Its pretty much necessary as you really need it to do a realistic design. You never know till you ask. However, at the moment its probably better you design and build the cars, simply because the way the cars end up working, and their characteristics really dictates how your ride will be. Its no good to design this cool layout, and then find out its impossible to make a car that works properly. However if you make the trains first, you can then make test sections of simple things like turns etc and see how the train works on them (for example you can work out the tightest turn your train can take) and then design the layout based upon that. EDIT! I just had the best idea for you, why dont you just download the FREE demo from http://www.nolimitscoaster.com/Download/download.html ? It still has the editor, except you cant save in it. But you can atleast show it to your parents in action (Best to show the editor so it looks more like a CAD program and less like a 'game'. You can also experiment and learn how to make realistic elements.
  4. Yeah, you can get a few types of flakes here, and they are all nice, personally I like the "Snow Flake" which is white chocolate with milk chocolate on the outside. i have never actually had a "Flake Nior" which is dark chocolate version. A funny thing though is the fact at McDonalds here you can pay 40c extra to have a flake stuck into your sundae/cone. Dunno why they chose to offer that, but its very good. As for the Nestle Lion, they havent sold them here for a while, It was OK but not as good as a Mars bar. And Not For Sale, a definite one to try is a Cadbury "Boost", probably one of their best offerings. And the blocks/bars of the normal cadbuty chocolate are good too. Also be on the look out for "Picnic" and "Cherry Ripe" But why are people calling them "candies"? They are chocolate bars.
  5. Im sure if you told them it was necessary for your project, and gave them the money for it you would be fine.
  6. Yeah, i love that. Its also cool when you see the blue flash when superman flies in, and the voicover has a random person saying "Its Superman!"
  7. Have you tried creating the layout in NoLimits before going to autocad?
  8. So what happens when they are doing the morning checks on these coasters? Surely they dont have this huge stock of water dummies they have to physically lift into place every morning. Every coaster would be capable of running empty for this reason. I think the reason parks wait for a minimum number of people is not to ensure it can make it through the circut, but merley to avoid running it excessivley with only a couple of people in it, instead waiting for a larger load, thus saving power and reducing unessesary wear and tear.
  9. You would want to be doing some sort of engineering course as Archi wont really help you. Civil engineering seems to be the way to go.
  10. Hmm, just remember though all this stuff like naming, logos, videos is on the side and not central to the project. Like its OK to do some video updates, but your main focus should be on doing the stuff necessary to the project rather than entertaining others with updates on every little thing, after all they aren't the ones grading it. I think you are beating around the bush too much, this topic is 13 pages long already and all it has really been so far is just lots of sketches. I think right now you should drop everything and build a simple straight section of track no more than half a meter long, and a single car and then just experiment with that. And also, USE NO LIMITS! it will really help in terms of designing a layout the train is going to be able to make it through, as has been said many times before, your jojo rolls etc are way too short, and in real life it would be too tight for the train to make it around, and would have excessive g forces. Also, looking at that CAD image on the previous page there seems to be a set of double corkscrews, yet each corscrew appears to be only the equivalent width of the catwalk! and by the nature of the element you would end up with something shorter than the station building! yet after this the track is leading around into some sort of raven turn/imellmann which would be bigger than the first element. Not very realistic. Again No Limits helps here because you can get the size of elements compared to the actual track correct.
  11. I agree, Going from the B&M webpage on the coaster ( http://www.bolliger-mabillard.com/products/hyper_en.aspx ) They say that And if they classify their own rides that way then I'm inclined to agree with them.
  12. Well, what is being said by all the people who have been to a school with a uniform is pretty much spot on. People dont get picked on for having daggy clothes which is one less bit of ammo the a$$es have. Another thing that is good about a uniform is that it sort of breaks down the barriers between groups, you dont get these pockets of people that all act like sheep and dress in a certain way etc, lets face it people always tend to have notions about people just by the sorts of things they wear. But when you take that factor out people take each other for who they really are. In other words, people arent just expressing their individuality by the way they dress, they are expressing it through their actions, the way the speak etc.
  13. LOL well to be a credit it has to be a roller coaster, not a water slide
  14. But the one at SFNE is powered by conveyer belts and not the Hydromagnetic sytem. I think when WWW was talking about "first in the world" they were refering to the use of a magnetic system.
  15. IMO if the only way you can express yourself is through your clothes then you have issues.
  16. I dont really get what you mean by the "two one" so ill just tell you how to do the whole boss. Ok, make sure its always held so the side of the remote is facing the screen (thats why it says use 'the boxer, just make sure you start off the way it shows on the diagram) but of course once the game gets going you can move the remote at any angle. Now, just move the remote so the sword blocks the guy, sometimes you will need to have it all the way to the left or right if the guy is at the left or right. If he is in the middle then have the remote upright. Now you have to do a few blocks like that. It eventually gets to a point where you lock swords with the guy, and when that happens sort of tip inwards towards the screen, then when the guy has his head down and you have a clear shot slice inwards at his head (still making sure the side of the remote is facing the screen) Before tackling the invent off stage, try the boss a couple of times in the temple of form so you can practice as much as you want. Oh, and onewheeled999 go into the options menu and pick "sensor bar" to calibrate sensitivity etc.
  17. I guess I'm not too bothered by Uniforms, Here in Australia basically every school, both primary and secondary has a Uniform, with further rules that go with it. Eg we had a shirt (I have since finished school) with the school logo, a tie, grey pants and a woolen jumper with the school logo (This is the winter uniform though) In summer it was grey shorts and a shirt. Girls had their own stuff too (Eg a summer dress) On top of that there were limits like only 2 peircings in each ear, if you have other piercings it has to be coveted by a band-aid or taken out. For girls hair ties had to be in the school colours and there was to be no coloured nail polish, your shoes had to be black and polishable, socks have to be grey. In summer too you were required to wear a broad brimmed hat (Again one with the school logo) when out in the sun. For some of the more exclusive private schools their uniforms were more formal than this. But I think anyone who considers this 'torture' is just a whinger, i mean its only a few hours a day, 5 days a week for 9 months of the year so the majority of the time is still spent not wearing a uniform. And it didnt waste huge amounts of time with enforcement etc because everyone just followed the rules, and the ones who didnt were the sorts of people that were badly behaved anyway and got in trouble a lot anyway. And you didnt even notice you were wearing it anyway, and its sort of good because you see people more for who they are and it breaks down the barriers a bit, lol the year 12s wear blue jumpers (everyone else wears maroon) so it was like we were one big family. But its definitley wasnt like this big communist/prison/conformist environment people are making it out to be.
  18. I mention some of the warioware microgames in this post, so skim over if you dont wanna read. I got Warioware too, overall a really fun game, and I like it basically for the same points everyone else does. i loved the imaginiative ways they thought of using controller, like the volleyball game, swinging like an ape, geeze even vacuuming was a cool idea. The controls are ok, but feel laggy in parts. In paticular the bosses were all really good too, the block stacking one and the dancing ones are the best. I have a handful of gripes with it though: -Too many of the games went for that half assed graphical look, i know its sort of a series trademark, but they did have a tendency to mix graphical styles so some games just came off looking cheap. However some of them looked very nice, such as the one where you photograph the model, the dumbell game, the pancake flipping game and these were the ones that had a consistent look. -There seemed to be a fair few 2D pointer type games, which can sometimes be frustrating because in the heat of the game you can lose contact with the sensor bar and subsequently lose. Personally i prefered the ones that needed full motion (like the barcode scanning game). I mean warioware touched wasall about moving things around on screen, drawing lines etc, i dont really see the point in re-doing these sorts of games again (They even re used that game where you use a torch to find someone in the dark) -Multiplayer was ok, but it would have been nice to have a split screen mode where everyone competes at the same time in the different character stages. IMO its a bit hypocritical to continuously remind you to use the wrist strap, yet have single controller multiplayer modes that make this impossible. -They got rid of the option to play individual microgames for high score
  19. Cool, its good to see another park giving this technology a go. White Water World (opened a couple of months ago) uses this system on the Super Tubes Hydro coaster http://www.whitewaterworld.com.au/content/www_standard.asp?name=WWW_HydroCoaster and basically those copper fin things are sewn into the bottom of the rafts, and the electromagnets are in the bottom of the trough, with fibreglass sitting over them (see here for a pic of the guts of the ride, minus the fibreglass sitting over it) By all accounts its a great ride and very popular (too bad we dont have the 4 person rafts) And as for that whole restraint debate that is going on, the rafts dont go fast enough over the hills to eject anyone, and even if you did theres nets to stop anyone falling out of the slides. It wouldnt be as dangerous falling out of a raft compared to a coaster because on a coaster for example you could be hit by the train you just fell out of, whereas on a slide being hit by a raft isnt so bad since its soft. Oh, and the reason these little kiddy coasters need restraints is not so much to stop people falling out, but rather because kids tend to fidget and squirm around. They would also be there to stop stuff like "look mummy, im standing up!".
  20. Haha, sounds like a complete clone of the DW version, thought i wonder if Maquarie Lesiure Trust (DWs owners) will get some sort of commision for selling their idea. But a word of warning, the big red car ride is NOT worth the "credit" (if you could call it that since its not a coaster) if it is anything like the DW version. It is a horribly kiddie ride, you feel like a pedo lining up for it and a pedo riding it and dont even think about buying an onride photo with kids in the other seats Personally i am opposed to the Wiggles, its terrible how Jeff makes a mockery of the serious condition of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
  21. Haha, sorry about that one, i realised what I had done straight after posting, but unfortunatley i couldn't edit in something else. Gah, the idea is NOT to do something stupid when you are new here... But anyway, Ill say Cyclone at DW, its consistently bagged out (By me included), and while it does look scrappy and is run scrappily the actual ride itself isnt too bad, it didn't headbang and wall an OK sort or ride all around.
  22. Personally, i dont mind the location, its a bit like Parque Warner Madrid in the way it is a centerpiece for main street. And yes we are desperate for a new ride here. But I also agree that Batwing Spaceshot is an odd name, i guess people here would understand it more given it is a spaceshot ride, but for the general public, having the word 'space' in the name seems like an odd fit for a Batman themed ride. Ill trust the marketing department on this one
  23. Hmm, i thought for me that the little Dragon coaster at Luna Park would be closer than the Scenic Railway. I guess because i live North of it.
  24. Heres a bit of my own work here, for the end of year 12 i got some people together and we did our own version of that real life simpsons video that was popular on youtube a little while back.
  25. Im probably the only one, but is anyone else hoping a cricket game gets relased on this sometime in the future. That is one sport that will translate well onto the Wii.
