  1. This is one I wrote a while back for a Macbeth project in AP Lit Comp. It's not one of my better poems, but it got me the "A" I wanted. The King's Conundrum Mighty is he, upon the throne, Whose queen is fair and servants loyal; And though he has secrets unknown, Doth keeps them so, for he is royal. To illuminate the darkness would Shroud him in accusation and death; What he perceives of his son could Result in the great King’s final breath and eternal burning for his crime. Spies he on that which makes him shake While maintaining his innocence (Or feigning, at the least): ‘twill take The old Lord’s fair daughter to convince Him to unveil his intentions. His soul is guilty, his time finite; He makes his horrid plan, to poison The prey, ending (so he thought) his plight… Until he was felled by the same wine.
  2. Just got back from seeing No Joy, Wavves and Best Coast about an hour and a half ago. IT WAS FANTASTIC. Four hours of blaring, noisy, poppy surf punk from three incredible bands. I went for Best Coast, but I really think Wavves stole the show. As soon as they started their first song, almost everyone rushed to the stage and moshed for nearly 45 minutes. Also, I got a tour-only 7" vinyl AND got it signed by Bobb from Best Coast! What a fantastic night. Adam "My ears are still ringing" H.
  3. Just got in line. I donno if I'll be able to wait 490 minutes, but I'll try my best. I'm SirNonsense!
  4. Degu! It's a gerbil/chinchilla hybrid that fits comfortably in your palm! THEY'RE SO CUTE! I really want one.
  5. I've already posted here, but that was almost four years ago. So, my updated list of favorites: Demetri Martin Maria Bamford Mitch Hedberg Brett Butler Jim Gaffigan Eugene Mirman Jen Kirkman Sinbad Loni Love Greg Giraldo Steven Wright Dat Phan Ron McGehee Brian Regan Bob Smiley Jimmy Carr Daniel Tosh ...and a few others that I can't remember. Oh, and NOT Dane Cook. Or Joe Koi. They're just bad.
  6. When I eat hamburgers, barbeque sandwiches, hot dogs, etc. I put so much ketchup on it that I can hardly taste what I'm actually eating. I don't know why I love doing that, but it's goooooooood.
  7. Two Door Cinema Club - Undercover Martyn One of my current favorite acts, hopefully I'll be seeing them (plus Tokyo Police Club and Someone Still Loves You, Boris Yeltin) on the 25th at The Masquerade in the ATL.
  8. From yesterday, brushing the ol' teeth for New Years! I wore that hat pretty much all day.
  9. I really like the London Eye. And London in general. All that needs to happen is an actual visit...
  10. Quoted for truth. I'd say that both of SFOG's woodies need to be re-tracked, or at the very least parts of them. I will say, though, that GASM needs more of a makeover than Cyclone. The last time I rode it WILL be my last until I hear news about new track. Good Lord, I hadn't felt that much pain on a roller coaster since my last ride on Hurricane Cat. 5 before it closed. Don't get me wrong; Cyclone is pretty bad, and could use some work, but I'd say it takes shotgun to GASM. Unfortunately, since SFOG is putting Dare Devil Dive in (which isn't at all a bad thing), that means that any sort of lovin' to either woodies is out of the question until next year at the very least. Kind of sad, really. GASM used to be my favorite woodie.
  11. Time for a quick album review! Best Coast - Crazy For You This was a bit different than what I've been listening to for the past few weeks (a steady blend of dance, rap and noisy indie rock), and it was quite refreshing, like drinking water right after a workout. The sound of the album as a whole is really vintage-sounding - pretty much every sound on the album is very distant and fuzzy, a throwback of sorts to older vinyl and 1950's-era distortion. The sound quality goes nicely with the unusually simple lyrics, which kind of sound like they were written back in the time where everything was a little bit less risqué. Now, that's not saying that the album is perfect; in fact, one of the reasons it's such a solid album is that all of the songs are quite similar to each other, minus a key change here or there. It's almost like they grouped the songs on the album according to what key they were written in, so that the album had three or four distinct sections. For me, it made the album a little bit boring to listen to near the end. Fortunately, they decided to put my favorite song, Girlfriend, as song number 1 of the 13 tracks on the album. Overall, Crazy For You is different enough from the current radio trash but still fun enough to listen to, making it one of my favorite albums that I've gotten in a long while. 8/10
  12. Best Coast - Honey I didn't like them at first, but I bought the album earlier this evening (WAY earlier) and ended up loving it. My favorite song is Girlfriend, but this one is good too.
  13. Okay, then, I got... Wacom Bamboo Pen + Touch tablet (with Photoshop) Nintendo DSi XL Super Mario Bros. 25th Anniversary Edition Korg Kaossilator synthesizer pad The Sims 3 two sets of Buckyballs magnets Moshi Voice-Activated alarm clock a laptop cooler thing just under $200, in cash/gift cards/lottery tickets glow-in-the-dark Fushigi ball (it was originally a joke, but it's actually kind of cool!) Frisbee (with LED lights) ...and a bunch of other small stuff. It was certainly a lovely Christmas, especially since I could share it with my family!
  14. Oh... Kay. Anyways, CHRISTMAS IS ON SATURDAY. Is anyone doing anything special for the holidays?
  15. This is kind of a strange thought process (story of my life), so try and bear with me for a moment. I don't really like rap, and the rappers that I do like have to be REALLY REALLY good,at least in my opinion, for me to listen to them. I know, it's quite music-snob of me, but some "rappers" can't actually rap (a la Soulja Boy, Roscoe Dash, Gucci Mane, etc.) so it's always a good thing to separate the actual talent from the radio trash. One of the few mainstream rappers I enjoy is Kanye West, mostly because of the creativity in his lyrics and (most of) his actual music, beat-wise. I recently bought his most recent release, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and loved it from the moment I put it into my laptop. My favorite song is Monster, but the song that stood out most to me the first listen through was the song "Lost in the World", where Mr. West samples the song "Woods" by Bon Iver. Listening to the sampled section made me realize how much I loved that song, so I turned off Kanye for a while and went back to Bon Iver, playing "Woods" about 4 or 5 times in a row. It's a very simple song, but Bon Iver's use of Autotune is one of the best ways I've ever heard Autotune used EVER. Somehow, without a beat, there's a soulfulness that I haven't heard many times before. If you haven't heard this song, and you like songs that aren't what you would normally hear on your Top 40 radio station, you might want to take a listen to this wonderful piece of musical genius. Ha, I went from Kanye West to awesome indie band. Even if it's not your particular music taste, you should listen anyways.
  16. I don't have NL (yet), so I had to rely on the video to tell me about the ride. From my standpoint, the ride was awesome. It looked smooth and realistic, and the lengthy pre-lift was very unique, in the best way possible. I loved it, and whenever I happen to get NL, I'll make sure to download. On a side note, another reason I loved the video is because of the song. Arcade Fire is an amazing band.
  17. I've only been on two woodies under 75', which are Cannon Ball at Lake Winnie and Swamp Fox at Family Kingdom. Of the two, it's honestly hard to pick a favorite. I grew up with Swamp Fox, and even after all these years, it's fairly smooth, has good pops of airtime, and is well-paced. Cannon Ball is a little bit shorter than Swamp Fox, but it's smooth as glass, and the small hill right after the first drop had some amazing airtime. I guess, mostly for sentimental value, my favorite would be Swamp Fox.
  18. Trey Songz - Unusual (feat. Drake) Honestly, this style of music isn't even close to my choice listening material, but there's something about this song that I like for some reason. Weird. Plus, it has Drake in it, which can't possibly be a bad thing.
  19. I'd rather be asleep right now. Unfortunately, there's shirts to wash and a can of Diet Dr. Pepper to drink.
  20. I would love if UGA won against Colorado tonight. But, seeing as how we have an impressive (cough cough) three-game losing streak, I don't see a victory in the forecast. It's unfortunate, really.
  21. I have a Samsung Reality, and I love it. It has a big touch screen AND a full keyboard, and I love the way it slides open. I dunno, I just think it's cool. Plus, it gets pretty good reception, and the back looks cool. My only complaint is that, if you use it a lot during the day (lots of calls, texts, etc.) then the battery drains pretty quickly. But, a nightly charge isn't too hard to do. And the best part: It's a great phone for cheap! I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a Verizon smartphone on a budget. Samsung Reality!
  22. Baths - Rafting Starlit Everglades If you've never heard of Baths, and you're into glitchy electronic or hip hop music, I highly suggest you look this guy up. Absolutely stunning.
  23. In two and a half hours, I will be witnessing the glory that is Of Montreal. It's my second show ever, and I'm REALLY excited! Of course, pictures will soon follow.
  24. I want to be in a band. Really bad.
  25. The Fall- This movie came out a while ago (in 2006, actually), and I had never heard of it before the night I watched it, but it was a great movie. The story itself was, at least for me, refreshingly original, the cinematography is absolutely stunning, and the little girl is too cute to not like! A few problems I issues I have with the movie, though... It's a hard plot to follow, and if you miss five or ten minutes of it, you miss a LOT of information. Also, as cute as the little girl is, she's nearly impossible to understand without subtitles which, of course, would take away from the overall movie experience if they were turned on. This kind of left me guessing what she said by her actions, which got annoying after the 90-minute (out of 117 total minutes) mark. Still, the feel of the movie, combined with the great storyline, outweigh the bad things in my eyes. Final score: 8/10
