Wow! The preview trailer is very impressive. I'm not gonna lie, 0:23-0:31 was pretty intense. It reminds me of a Blair Witch kind of storyline, set in a school. Nothing wrong with that, of course, Blair Witch was brilliant. Nice work so far. Can't wait to hear more about it!

From "Pajama Party" by Swimming With Dolphins: In case you're curious, Swimming With Dolphins is a project from Minneapolis, Minnesota, with Austin Tofte on vocals and Adam Young (from Owl City fame) as the producer. It's an amazing project, if you like Owl City you should definitely check SWD out.

This is a weird one, but... large ships. Cruise liners, cargo ships, anything like that. I can't stand them. I don't have a problem with the smaller ones, I've even been on a few of them. But if they're bigger than a ferry boat, no way. My other fear is deep water. Like, I love the beach, but I refuse to go out further than about twenty feet from the shore. Plus, I've never been into a pool deeper than nine feet, and even in that pool, I never went to the bottom of the deep end. Obviously, I won't be going on any cruises or joining the Navy any time soon. Ooh, I just thought of another one: I have this fear that every time I'm in a crowd of people, somebody is going to come up and kidnap me. Also, when people follow me for more than two or three minutes while I'm driving, I think they're trying to follow me home so they can kill me. I don't know what you would call that last one. EDIT: I also suffer from astraphobia, the fear of thunderstorms. Whenever a storm rolls through town, I can't help but to start panicking and I make a B-line for my basement. Even if it's just a ten-minute rainshower, if there's lightning and thunder, I freak out. I've gotten a lot better about it since I was a kid (five or six years ago, I wouldn't leave the house if there was a storm in my town's general area), but it's a still-recurring ordeal.

The one thing I like about living in Georgia: almost every time it snows, school gets cancelled. I just got an extra day of winter break! Also, the band I play drums in is recording on Saturday! I'm super excited! -
So true. I love Owl City, but I'm beginning to hate Fireflies. Just like my mom used to tell me: too much of a good thing only makes it bad. If only more people knew about Maybe I'm Dreaming... Just curious, but are there any Passion Pit fans out there? I got the CD for Christmas, and I (literally) can't stop listening to it! It's so catchy!
-
I got a Flip UltraHD video camera and a bunch of accesories, a Scion license tag holder and floor mats for my car, the new Passion Pit CD, some travel-size board games, a few shirts and 2 pairs of shoes, Up and Bolt DVDs, and (combining all of the gift cards and cash) about $125. There were a few smaller things I got, but I didn't feel like naming them off. Not a bad Chrismas at all. Merry Christmas, everyone!

Mhm. But some of the covers are pretty good. I've recently taken a liking to a band called Sherwood. I've known about them for a while, but never really listened to them. When QU (their newest CD) came out, I decided to give 'em a try, and I was blown away. It's like a mix of pop and alternative/indie, with a hint of high-school glee club. If you're into that kind of thing, definitely check them out.

I don't know when, but I'll probably end up back at SFOG to fuel my obsession with Mind Bender. I would love to go somewhere new this year, but that'll never happen. -

I find out whether or not I get accepted into my target college (University of Georgia) on December 15th. I'm excited, nervous and scared all at the same time. If I do get accepted, that's an advantage; most of the other applicants won't find out until April of next year. Thank you, Early Action! Go Dawgs! -
Okay, I'm going to rant about my job. Or, soon-to-be lackthereof. I work for CiCi's Pizza, which hardly counts as real pizza anyways (we all know it); at CiCi's, there's not a single job that isn't totally dignity-shattering, but I got stuck with the worst of them all: I go outside and shake a sign around that has the CiCi's logo on it. I did work inside for about a month (bussing tables, which isn't much better than shaking a sign), but they decided to move me back outside. Here's where the ranting really begins... Two weeks ago, I put in my Thanksgiving break into the "request off" book, and my manager comes up to me and says, "You know we're not going to need you after November, right?" Wait, what? "We're not doing the sign-shaking after this month, so you're gonna have to find something else to do." I was upset, to say the least, but I wasn't about to vocalize. After all, my name is still on the roster. So, I simply asked if I could be moved inside after they terminated the "Shaker" position. The reply: "We just hired four people, but I'll see what I can do." That's just fancy manager-talk for "No." It really grinds my gears - the fact that I've been working there since April, and yet when I'm about to lose my job, they hire FOUR new people and leave me for bust. Granted, it was just a part-time job. But still, if you work at a place for almost eight months and are suddenly told that you are going to lose your job despite the fact that there WERE open positions in the exact building you worked for, wouldn't you be angry too? Oh, but it gets better. I go in today (December 4, after the month of November) to get my final paycheck, and I find out that I'm working the next day! It seems as though my manager forgot to mention that they had extended the termination up to next weekend. The least they could have done is call my house and leave a message saying, "We decided to extend your termination for another two weeks, see you Saturday morning!" That's all it would have taken to avoid upset and disappointment. I had plans, but I had to alter them just so I could work tomorrow morning! And, to put the icing on the cake, it's SNOWING ALL MORNING tomorrow. In northwest Georgia! That's not supposed to happen! So, to summarize (if you don't feel like reading all of that), my employer told me that they were laying me off at the end of November, and here I am, in December, with snow in the forecast, being called back in for two more weeks. And I'm still losing my job afterwards. I'm very angry right now.

^I like how the album title of that Hollywood Undead cover is "Desperate Measures." It's a refreshing touch of honesty. I hate Hollywood Undead so much. But I've reacently gotten into a band called Sherwood. Their sound isn't exactly original, but there's something about them that makes me enjoy them. It's probably because I'm a sucker for chorus-style vocals (every member of the band sings).

Entertaining, funny ride ops.
no_brain_er replied to GivenOneChance's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That is just the best. Ever. I really like the crew on Acrophobia, mostly because of the songs and other silly stuff they say on the mic as the ride is operating. I remember one day when the ride op was singing an Acrophobia version of the Gilligan's Island theme. It was awesome. -
Wow, failing grades for no date and period? That's worse than middle school. I guess it's all about the teachers in most cases. If the teachers really do make AP classes easier and generally better at your school, TAKE THEM. They look really good on college applications. If your school offers IB (International Bacclaureate), those courses also look good to most colleges. (By the way, great avatar.)
-
Not necessarily. AP courses are essentially college courses - in other words, the material may be similar to the content in the regular classes, but AP goes much more in-depth. Plus, depending on the teacher, the tests and essays and stuff are much more challenging. It's all to get you ready for the AP Exam at the end of the year; most of the AP exams are pretty hard (especially, from what I've heard, the Calculus and U.S. History exams). Even if they are the same (at least at your school), I would strongly advise taking them, becuase they can get you into a good college if you do well. Hoep that cleared a few things up.

If I haven't already posted this... My normal school day. 6:15 - Wake Up 6:45 - stop pressing the snooze and get up 7:10 - Leave for school (I drive) 7:40 - Get to school 8:10 - School Starts ... 3:40 - School is over. I'm normally off campus by about 4:00. Traffic can get pretty bad around my school, so I just wait for it to thin out and chat with friends. And now a moan about AP... APLit is the worst class I've taken in high school. I hate it so much (most likely because I'm failing). In fact, I'm supposed to be re-writing an essay right now for that class. The teacher is good, and I love the people I'm in there with - I just hate the class. On a good note, my other AP class, AP Environmental Science (APES for short), is one of the better classes I have this year. The teacher is really good at what she does, considering the fact that it's her first year teaching AP.

I took the ACT in October. 33 English 25 Math 31 Reading 29 Science 29 English/Writing 30 Composite. Not too shabby, especialy since I went in totally unprepared AND running off of four hours of sleep.

I got my first "actually mine" car today: a 2004 Scion xA! Well, this picture isn't actually mine, but it's the exact same color and everything. I would like to put a few extra things into it, like some new wheels, some lights on the inside, and maybe a spoiler on the back. But for now, I like it just the way it is.

I think they're more upset because the kid just wanted to use the utensil parts at lunch, not hurt anyone. Plus, the fact that they were considering putting him in a reform school at 6 years old does seem a tad bit extreme. In that respect, I could see why the parents were upset. Okay, rant time. Today at band practice (marching band), a freshman was trying to boss some of my section around. That really annoyed and offended me, because first of all, she's a rookie: she hasn't been in the program long enough to tell anyone anything about what they should be doing. And second of all, I personally believe that you should be able to do something very well before you can start telling people how to do it; she can't march, therefore she shouldn't be able to tell other people how to march. I swear, people and their overinflated egos... Third, she plays clarinet. A clarinet just shouldn't be able to boss anyone around, period.

Tiesto's newest CD, Kaleidoscope - $9.99 at Target, of all places!
-
Well, they're not technically required, but AP classes are pretty tough. I'm taking AP Lit/Comp and AP Environmental Science this year; APES is super-easy, but APLit is a totally different story. It's the only class I'm failing right now, and we just checked out a Faulkner book today during class. I absolutely despise Faulkner. Aside from AP stuff, I'd say the hardest required class (at least for me) was either Algebra 2 or Chemistry. I just had a bad teacher in Algebra 2, but Chemistry had all those complicated formulas, memorizing elements, and everything else people have said before me. Well, I had a bad teacher for that class too.
