Phote TR: HCL's Southern Triple Header
no_brain_er replied to HCLcoasters's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I went to Carowinds last Sunday (June 13th), and I gotta say, Intimidator kicks the balls off of Goliath. My friends and I booked it once the gates opened, and within ten minutes of the park being open we already had our Intimidator credit for the day. Strange thing is, there were a LOT of people there that day, but we didn't wait for more than ten minutes on ANYTHING. I love days like that. A few thoughts, based on your captions. *Carolina Cobra was AWESOME. Rode it 3 times. *I actually enjoyed my rides on Hurler. The front seat must be Hurler's "Vekoma seat". *I also really liked Carolina Cyclone. If you ride in the back, you get pulled over the back half of the loops; it's an interesting feeling, in a good way. On the other hand, I'm probably just braindead and stupid. *This is just personal opinion, but the back seat of Afterburn might just be one of the most forceful rides I've been on. It was friggen crazy! *I have to agree that Vortex just doesn't really feel like a B&M, but it was only the third coaster they built. I guess practice makes perfect, right? *Nighthawk is a good ride, but it jacked my phone. I got it back, but still. Not cool. One more thing, and then I'll shut up... I will NEVER ride Southern Star again. EVER. Nice pics, by the way - looks like you had fun! -

Summer camp starts tomorrow... and I'm leaving in 6 1/2 hours, but I'm still awake... I'm going to be so tired. Don't you hate it when you want to sleep, but can't? -
I don't know much about pinball, nor am I really good at it, but I love playing! The only place I can really play is at my uncle's house, he always has four or five machines in his basement, and he constantly sells them and buys new ones (or new to him, at least). Last time I went over to his place, he had Pirates of the Carribean, Monopoly, Lord of the Rings, Elvis, and... the name of the fifth one escapes me. I still think the best machine he ever owned, and the one he shouldn't have gotten rid of, was his Twilight Zone. I loved that one! He also had, at one point, a machine called Diner, which was pretty fun to play as well.

I was going to get my dad a card and a bag of candy he likes... ...but that's what I did for his birthday, just under a month ago. Maybe I'll get him a gift card to his favorite store or something. I dunno. Adam "Does this make me a bad son?" H.

Swamp Fox at Family Kingdom. I went on it about six or seven times during Spring Break a few months ago. Still have to post my TR... -
Great band. I found their CD "Living with the Living" at the city library and couldn't stop listening to it for almost two weeks. Anyways, has anyone else listened to the new Janelle Monae album yet? It's called The Archandroid, and it's definitely Grammy-worthy. There's such a nice blend of styles throughout the enire CD, and I love how it's written in "suites" that continued off her first album, The Chase (Suite 1). Seriously, she's a genius.

Oh my God. That was one of the most unsettling videos I've ever seen. I don't think I'll ever be able to forget the last 45 seconds. I hope people actually get something out of this, instead of just assuming that MIA hates red-headed people. On a lighter subject, I revently found a few bands that may pique the interest of a few people around these parts: Woe, Is Me - an incredible hardcore seven-piece from Atlanta, GA. If Attack Attack!, Sky Eats Airplane and Jonny-Craig-era Dance Gavin Dance had a crazy threesome, this is what the offspring would be like. I have GOT to see them live sometime soon. Queens Club - Yes, they're American, but they have a distinct British vibe to them. I dunno, maybe it's the lead singer's voice. Really cool dance-rock beats, some crazy-high vocals and interesting lyrics. Highlights of their album Young Giant include, but are not limited to, "Nightmarer", "Cutt Me Off", "Dust" and "I'm American".

Queens Club - Cutt Me Off Incredible band. If you're into The Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, and bands like that, you'll love these guys.

Might as well... I graduated from Woodland High in Cartersville, GA last Saturday (the 22nd). College: UGA! (The University of Georgia) Major: Pre-Business Management with study in Music Business Summer Plans: Hopefully, I'll be taking somewhat of a road trip to some cool theme park I've either never been to or haven't been to in a while. I'm thinking either Carowinds or Beech Bend (with a short stop in Nashville). Other than that, it's Warped Tour and freshman orientation at UGA. That's about it.

I just found out today that I got accepted to the University of Georgia. Life is good.

7xx7 - The Mae Shi Really, really good indie rock. I would love to see these guys play live.

Would you apply to this college or send your kids here??
no_brain_er replied to AWill961's topic in Random, Random, Random
The main reason I wouldn't go is actually in the first sentence on the Wikipedia page... If there are two things I know, it's that an unaccredited college is like a trash can for money and time, and that most fundamentalist Baptists are off their rockers. This place screams "suicidal tendencies." -

I don't know if this counts, but I used to be really close friends with the brother of Chloe Moretz, the girl who plays Mindy Macready/Hit-Girl in the movie Kick-Ass. The Moretz's used to live about twenty minutes from my house, and they went to my church for a really long time, so I played with her and her brothers every once in a while before they moved to California. So, in a way, I kinda knew her before she got famous. Other than that, I've got nothing. -

So the weather report calls for lots of rain, which means Atlanta could flood. Again. For the second time this year. I'm beginning to hate 2010. Good thing I'm graduating this month, or else this year wouldn't even be worth talking about to my kids some day! -

Very cool TR! But I must say, one picture in particular stood out to me... It reminded me a lot of this... I dunno, the position is very similar. That's all. Anyways, nice TR. Looking forward to more pics from another trip! -

The band I'm in is playing our first show three weeks from today. I'm really excited, but I'm also kind of nervous... -
How To Train Your Dragon Wow. I'm going to be completely honest, here: this definitely ranked in my Top 5 animated movies ever. It's right up there with several Disney/Pixar movies, that's how good it was! I didn't really expect anything great going into the movie, what with it being a family film and all, but by the first ten minutes, my mind had been changed for me! Great voice acting, surprisingly good action sequences, the 3D animation and effects were very well done, and Toothless is SO DARN ADORABLE! My only complaint, which is more about the theater than the movie itself, is that I was forced to see it in 3-D because that's the only version my local theater was offering. I would very much like to see it in regular ol' 2-D, but whatever. At least I still saw it. Highly recommended! 10/10 Donnie Darko It's kind of old, but I just saw it about two months ago at a friend's house. Needless to say, I'm going to have to see it again if I want to understand the entire thing better. Super-complicated yet extremely intelligent plotline, and strong acting. Creepy in some instances, hilarious in others. The continuous shot of Donnie's school is incredible, I still can't comprehend how they got all the way through without screwing up. That must have taken some serious patience. Overall, great movie, but a bit too complex for my taste. 8/10

Something like that happened to my dad just a few days ago! People are getting craftier these days. Curious thing is, he hadn't used his card but once on a restaurant bill and he had to cancel it the next day. The charges were also in the neighborhood of $500. What up, banking system? On to my rant... I have an ex-friend who keeps taking music he finds from YouTube and obscure MySpace music pages and putting them on his MySpace profile, saying that he made them, or "remixed" them. Worst part is, he messes with them ever-so-slightly, and they always sound terrible. But he's super proud of them, despite the fact that they're totally not his. I've called him out on it before, and he keeps doing it. Please stop, ex-friend! They sound horrible, and it's illegal! Goodness.

I'm 17. Of course I don't drink beer! As of right now, the taste is fine when it's hidden amongst fancy add-ins and toppings. The white chocolate mochas from Starbucks is godly. I'm just trying to ween myself off of the frilly semi-coffee and get to the good stuff. Actually, I might try what you did and drink it with cream and sugar, and just see what happens from there.
-
I haven't actually tried straight-up coffee, but I'm about to be a college student, so I might as well try it. Can anyone suggest a good brand for a coffee newbie?

^ Well, if you really are Lady Gaga, then congrats on the Grammys. Even if you're not, I'm glad Gaga won them. I hated that song (Poker Face) at first, but it grew on me. And now I have to get the full album. As far as performances go, Pink's was a definite stand-out. It takes guts, talent, and lots of practice to do what she did and still sing like she was standing still. Props must be given.
