  1. It really says something about a park when you have to sit and really think about how it can improve from an already sterling status. The park looks fantastic and clearly there's a ton to do there over 3 days!
  2. Great photos and report! KI was my home park, and I don't believe I ever noticed Racer being slow during the front half on one and faster on the return trip than the other. I'll have to look for that when I visit next! Looking forward to CP day 2.
  3. Yesterday (Friday) was a great day. Not nearly as crowded as any day last year. Most rides were only 15-30 minute wait, although what should have been a 45 minute wait for Justice League was 90+ minutes. I didn't mind though because it is a fantastic ride. Not sure if I noticed differences between SF St. Louis at all. 10:45AM-7PM: V2 x 1 - Launch was more powerful than I remembered. Batman x2 - Love this intense ride and love the standard B&M restraints. It's my favorite Batman since it's not over gravel/parking lot. Swings/Whirlygig Goliath x1 - Fantastic drop, incredibly smooth, airtime hill that makes me miss Outlaw Run, and that zero g float is so weird and amazing. Viper x2 - Great wooden coaster! Whizzer x1 - Rode Thurs night at dusk. It's a classic and could be considered the first laydown/lounge coaster lol. Raging Bull x1 - The crew was CRUSHING it. 3 trains. So sad that the VR will ruin the ride's consistent impressive capacity. The first drop, MCBR drop, and drop after the helix provide great air. I love this coaster. Giant Drop x1 - Airtime that makes me giggle like a little anime girl. Justice League x1 - Great dark ride! You know. Demon x1 - Rode Thurs night. The ejector air on the first drop is really underrated. Smooth Arrow! Love this coaster. American Eagle x1 - Front row ride. I always forget how big and fast it is. The drop coming out of the helix throws you violently! Revolution - This Huss inward facing frisbee melted my face off. King Chaos - Did it because I never had before. Never again. Ouch. Also super short cycle. Condor - Must ride on this relaxing classic flat. All in all just not very crowded! Great first impression for the 2016 season.
  4. Sprecher's is great. The curds were on point, the hard rootbeer is the best on out there, and they also have tons of other great food/drinks. http://www.sprecherbrewery.com/index.php Ride all the go carts and run as many kids off the road as you can. Ride Hercules in the front or else you might have your spine fall apart. Ride Cyclops in the back. Hades 360 was not nearly as bad as all of the other reports I read. It was pretty great, actually. Not sure how it's holding up this season but perhaps others can chime in. I rode in the back and thought there was some solid airtime. Avalanche is a great ride. Try out the front and the back. Nig's bar was great (seriously, that's the name) and it seemed like the local's spot. Shot, beer + pint to take home was $5. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g60403-d1127632-Reviews-Nigs_Bar-Wisconsin_Dells_Wisconsin.html The rest of that street looked like fun as well.
  5. Youuu're welcome. I'll likely wait and ride it Friday morning since I've been on JL at St. Louis last year, and also had to wait an hour. I wouldn't mind waiting that long if it's going to be 100* or raining, but I may just wait for when I do a fast pass day since I'm worrying about it opening on time at 10:30AM. Great America is my new home park since I moved to Chicago last year, and every visit last year was pretty shitty compared to my visits in previous years. Every visit I experienced terrible lines, closures, and awful food/bev operations. Not to say I didn't have a good time at the park - it's just a bummer that you really need a FastPass if you can't visit between M-Th. I mean, even on a Sunday with rain all rides had 45-90 min waits. So what I mean is that although I want to be optimistic about visiting the park with minimal waits, I've got the be realistic about how crappy the combo of overcrowding + slow operations make the day. When you sell annual passes for 60 bucks, you're going to overcrowd the place almost on a daily basis.
  6. Thanks for the report! Dare I say I'm excited for my first visit of the season tomorrow night? Hoping the crowds won't be too bad!
  7. You reminded me to hate myself for not planning another SDC trip this summer. I love the park! The coaster line up is so solid and re-rideable. Maybe the only criticism would the portions of food are so large you can't really ear one of everything the park has to offer!
  8. Please dear oh lasersnakehorseonfire, no names that have relation to The Beast.
  9. Stellar review, Yin. Thanks so much for sharing your story! Glad that the trek back to guest services about your 2 day ticket not reserving FP didn't cause any delays for you. The park looks fantastic! Loved the details you wrote about the attractions because I honestly didn't know shit about them.
  10. Fantastic read. Thanks for sharing your experience! You really painted a picture. Looks like Disney did a fantastic job with this park and I'm happy that even very experienced Disney fans are being wowed by what's offered.
  11. I remember standing and watching while you and Mike rode. There are pictures somewhere!
  12. Wow! That beer selection is stellar. I'm going to try and tie in an Iowa fair + Adventureland trip in Aug. Thanks for the photos! Glad you enjoyed Goliath.
  13. I don't think I've ever seen a report from Slagharen before. Thanks for posting!
  14. Stay at the LaQuinta across the street and you can walk across to the park in less than 15 minutes. There's also great bars/restaurants steps away from the hotel as well. TPR stays here when they visit SFGAm. Make sure you get a fast pass to ride everything! Good luck! http://www.laquintachicagogurnee.com/?cid=local_google_1016
  15. Another great addition to a fantastic trip report. I'm bummed that more enthusiasts don't gush about Cornball's airtime like I have. During my visits I swear I was standing up the whole ride due to the air + buzzbars.
  16. The Chillwave is fantastic. Glad you got to try it! I also just realized the Brew Kettle makes CP's featured beers. Their IPA, White Rajah, won an award recently. Good to know they're not just taking some bum "It's craft beer but really if you look close it's under Coors/Busch" label beer.
  17. If/when presented with the opportunity, I will gladly ride without VR. It's not something that will enhance my experience. Bull is the tallest coaster in the park - I really enjoy the slow climb to the top and drop into the tunnel..and seeing what's in front of me is a big part of that. I'd feel more comfortable doing VR on this rather than Ninja because I wouldn't be afraid of my neck being snapped.
  18. I'm really at a loss for how this coaster is going to go in that location by WWC/Train/DB. There's also paths and bridges...it's really crowded. Tweak that lay out all you want, but I think this whole thing might be a joke. No doubt, there's something going on. I just have no clue what they're doing! And nothing I've seen on any forum has me sold.
  19. Alright! Then we won't have any coaster that gets 1000+ pph.
  20. Big ups for it taking me a couple days to read this trip report. What a fantastic read! I'll probably read it again on the train later this week, haha. I really enjoy visiting CP every 3 years or so because I feel like everything feels brand new. Even though I've been about 5 times, it's just a surreal atmosphere out on the Peninsula riding world class rides. Thanks for telling the story! -Zach Also, shame on you for not riding the skyride and making your ankles work.
  21. Boss gains another convert! Haters gonna hate. Boss just shakes it off. I feel like I need to ride this thing. It seems to be having the same impact on people as Mean Streak. I'd ride it again over the GCI down the hill.
  22. If only we could Survivor-style vote someone off TPR each month. Month might not be often enough, so weekly could work too. I think the fluffier users on TPR do a pretty good job informing each other on which rides require extra attention. Let's let the experts give each other advice, okay?
  23. DLP is a park that I never really hear about or see many pictures of. Is it bad I didn't know they had a Tower of Terror? Space Mountain 2 looks gorgeous, appreciate the reviews and photos! Tip - the only French I know is "beau twah" (eff you)
