  1. Derek, did you already get that credit at Blands/DelGrossos. If so ... I'm telling Elissa
  2. http://www.myspace.com/suedepop // likes wes's band request blurb.
  3. If you are coming all the way from South Carolina to go to Cedar Point I think it would be well worth your while to spend the extra money and stay at Breakers Express. Not only will you get into the park early, but you will also get a very nice room. Make sure you read reviews before you stay anywhere near Cedar Point. Not every hotel in that area is a "resort". And by all means ... avoid Dusk/Dawn hotel like the plague.
  4. Nope. That is just a typical PA State Route Great TR. I still can't believe I never have made it to that underground mine fire thingy.
  5. 1. It isn't too bad. Cedar Point is always more crowded on the weekends. Even though the park has become somewhat of a destination, daytrippers still make up the bulk of the attendance. 2. If you can't get to TTD during early entry (hotel guests / Joe Cool Club), I would wait until around dinner time to get it. Lines for TTD generally mellow out around 6pm or so. Avoid Raptor in the morning unless it is the first thing you hit. It's lines are much shorter in the evening. 3. It depends. I think 2 days is safe if you want to hit all the coasters. It is nearly impossible to hit them all in one day unless it is dead. If it rains a little your first day, then you might get them all in (read the daytrippers part again) 4. Don't forget that you are about an hour away from Geauga Lake and the park can be destroyed in a half day during the week. There is also the Merry-Go-Round Museum right in Sandusky and it even has a Allan Herschell Carousel (http://www.merrygoroundmuseum.org) 5. Evenings are crowded. The crowds at Cedar Point don't leave until they are forced out at gunpoint. The good thing is that Cedar Point only closes down the line for a certain ride at closing time. That means you get one "freebie". The park will keep running the ride until everybody gets a lap. 6. Now you are starting to scare me. You're turning into me? welcome to TPR! I am sure that you will get lots of good input. You asked the perfect questions.
  6. Just another internet trick using "inbound links" to build your site's popularity. This is especially popular in the travel/tourism industry. See how it works: http://www.mediacollege.com/internet/search-engines/seo/backlinks.html
  7. Like Jeezus Juice stated, I think you are just underestimating the park. I don't normally "call people out", but I really don't want someone who was scanning the boards to cancel a planned trip there, because it is merely a "regional park". While Kennywood IS a regional park for the general public, it is one of the most sought "destinations" for enthusiasts. // I may call someone out, but I will never call them "stupid". Now ... time to play nice and get to the subject at hand.
  8. ^ Usually is probably not the right term. If you ask, you will be told "No" ... a lot. But, that isn't to say that they're not ways to get a POV "the right way". I know that Robb makes arrangements with the park before he goes, but this will not work for just anyone. He has worked for a long time to build a reputation and following for his website (almost 10 years). In the end, please respect the parks rules. Since a certain incident in 2003 the parks have had a close eye on the enthusiast community and too much of the wrong behavior in the parks runs the risk of ending ERT, Cons, Events, Etc .... for GOOD!
  9. ^ Post of the Year  Question for Maliboomer: "Have you ever been to Kennywood?"
  10. I agree with Robb. You may be suprised how many Theme/Amusment Park PR types actually read through newsgroups and message boards. Hell, many of them even post to them.
  11. Kennywood and Knoebels would definately be my choice if I only had two parks in PA. Only problem is there is around a 4 hr drive between them. There are so many great parks in PA that I don't even know where to start but this is probably my faves (in order): Kennywood Knoebels Hersheypark Dorney Park Waldameer Conneaut Lake Park Lakemont Idlewild
  12. Funny thing is .... Canada's Wonderland gets big crowds. If you look at AT they are always up there with good numbers, yet (sans IJST) they get the shaft when it comes to signature rides. I haven't been there this year, but in my previous visits I have always found the lines to be longer on the SLC and the TOGO Standup. Go figure.
  13. I just went to your "Save the Jack Rabbit" site and noted a few things - The Jack Rabbit is not the oldest standing coaster. I am not sure if it is event the second oldest coaster. I know when "Leap the Dips" in Altoona was SBNO, that the Jack Rabbit used to be advertised as the oldest "operating" coaster. - You should probably capitalize "new jersey" on the information page. - Pop-ups and banner ads distract from not-for-profit sites. I would personally probably never sign a petition with "sponsors".
  14. Actually, I was kind of thinking the same thing. 1.6 actually sounds pretty low for a park of it's size. The coaster (from what I hear) is in pretty decent shape, and they have a Tracy "Whacky Shack.
  15. Living across the country grouped with limited vacation days kept me away from this one. If I had seen the pictures beforehand, I would have flown out JUST for this event. Looks like y'all had a great time. // will have to fly out for the next one. does anybody have a spare tent?
  16. <-- Got mine set. Might redo it if you put up some good high res shots
  17. Recently (last day or two), I have seen deals around the $159 range if you stay 4 nights. // thinks that a sticky hotel deal thread would be jolly good
  18. I think that most of the bickering is usually part of the negotiation process. There has never been a single studio that has the track record of Pixar. Every movie they have ever done has outgrossed the last. Success always makes the negotiation process even harder. Just ask the casts of shows like Friends, Seinfeld, Sopranos etc.
  19. This is news. Everybody has always known this. Whether or not they accepted it was the question. // "All jocks think about is sports. All nerds think about is sex"
  20. New coasters .... same crappy articles.
  21. If you are looking for the best coasters, then it is a real toss-up between IOA and Busch Gardens. Hulk and Dueling Dragons are both super excellent coasters, but I would probably opt for the combination of SheiKra, Kumba, Montu, and Scorpion. I wouldn't even consider Disney with just one day. A one day hopper is damn near $100.
  22. Kumba - 114' Vertical Loop Kraken - 115' Vertical Loop SheiKra - 145' Immelmen
  23. I use my Visa Check for almost everything when I travel and I have never had a problem with it. On the other hand, I never use it for Car Rentals. Most car rental companies require a pretty good size deposit (they are giving you a car after all) and if you use a check card they will essentially freeze all that money in your account. Sometimes it can take well over a week before it is available again. For Car Rental, I always use the charge card.
  24. ^ True. Kennywood has had it in storage. They got all kinds of crazy stuff in storage.
