New park China, Happy Valley Chengdu
packfanlv replied to RonLaan's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I much prefer the way this park and Happy Valley Shenzhen look compared to the Beijing Park. I hope they follow this style when they are building the Shanghai park as well. Happy Valley Beijing just did absolutely nothing for me, but I loved Happy Valley Shenzhen and this park looks to be awesome. Thanks for the pics. Oh and the gray skies are sooooo China! -
Ever had a black out on a coaster?
packfanlv replied to Dark Vampire's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have almost blacked out on Goliath at SFMM quite a few times. It is the only coaster that it has happened to me on. For some reason, I don't remember it happening on Titan, but I only rode it once and we were sitting toward the front of the train. -

Photo TR: Rainbow's End, New Zealand

Rainbow's End was a a pleasant surprise for me. I wasn't expecting much, but once I thought of it, Auckland is a big enough city to support a larger park. Either way, we enjoyed our day at Rainbow's End and that is all that's important. If and when I am back in Auckland, (and they get that Mega-Lite) I will definitely visit again. -

8/20 for me. I made a couple of stupid mistakes, but would've still done horribly anyway. -

Thanks Stuart. I actually liked the charm of Rainbow's End. Don't ask me why, but I enjoyed my visit there. When we visited, the park was rather empty, so my son and I got to ride corkscrew 11 times without exiting the train! I think Gold Rush was surprisingly fun and agree that the log flume was whacked out. I didn't see them in your report, but we also enjoyed the bumber boats (which were actually forceful) and the go karts. I also agree the drop tower was great. I don't want to hijack your TR, but I'll just post a couple of photos here if you don't mind. Thanks again! This is the only picture I have, but it is an example of the fine theming inside of the log flume. Thanks again. Shawn Reece and I enjoyed getting soaked on the bumber boats. Here is an example of the theming inside the dragon coaster! The Drop tower was a lot of fun. -

LA/Orange County People, got a question
packfanlv replied to SupremeClientele's topic in Random, Random, Random
I did this a few years ago to see an Angels game. We had our car, but thought it was easier to take the bus. I believe we took the bus down Katella and it takes around 10 minutes. Both of our games were at night and the neighborhood seemed safe to me. The Honda Center is across the street from Angels Stadium so you would be essentially doing the same thing as we did. -

Thanks for another fun TR!

^If I am wrong someone can correct me, but Superman cost around $12,000,000 AUD which today equates to less than $8million USD. (Probably less given the exchange rate at the time.) I am under the impression that B&Ms today are running somewhere in the neighborhood of $16-25 million dollars. Diamondback for example is costing $22million, but it is a huge coaster. (Behemoth cost roughly the same amount.) Getting a B&M would be a major step up in purchase price for either park, but I have learned to never say never.

^^I don't see how this could be a Dive Machine given the size of the track. Who knows where it could be going. Chimelong Paradise perhaps? I also agree that it is unlikely that this would be going to Australia. From what I have heard, neither of those two major parks get enough attendance to justify the cost of a large B&M. Who knows though. Movie World with a B&M would be awesome!

Going on that trip to get the Orphan Rocker credit would be totally worth it. They could combine the Australia trip with a Southeast Asia trip, maybe Thailand and Malaysia. These areas aren't too far apart and combined have enough coasters to warrant a longer trip.

Shawn's Worldwide Adventures! PTRs From My Travels
packfanlv replied to packfanlv's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
^^Thanks. The tickets were rather expensive, but we spent a lot of time and were able to either find people who weren't so greedy or often times people who just had extra tickets to give away. Track & Field and Swimming tickets did cost a fortune, which is the reason we didn't attend those events. ^Thanks Big Mike. Shawn Reece looks forward to riding a coaster with you as well. Hopefully Jasmine and I will see you at WCB in March. Shawn Reece is still a little height challenged so he won't be attending WCB unfortunately. -
^That is a great point. When we flew from Tokyo to LA on American, we did have video entertainment, but instead of doing the On Demand type in coach, you could only start the movies every 15 minutes and the pause feature was disabled. (This was a brand new system capable of On Demand) On international carriers, at least on the ones I flew with the new systems, everything was fully on demand for every passenger. IMO this is just another way that they nickel and dime everyone and is very short sighted.

^This is true. I flew American from Tokyo to Los Angeles in September and while they served two meals, no alcohol was included.

Its good to know that someone else loves Sinbad's Storybook Adventure. We rode it several times and I couldn't get the song (or at least the small english portion of it out of my head!) We walked around DisneySea all day singing "The compass of your heart!" Is it me or do some of the dancers in Sinbad look like Cher?

The Mid America, Germany and UK trips sound great to me. I am DETERMINED to get on a TPR trip next year!
