  1. I finally got a chance to ride Terminator on Sunday morning and I have to agree with most, that the experience surpassed my expectations. The theming was well done and I felt that the total experience was fun. Of course, I also loved the ride. My only complaint was that they didn't open the line until 11am, (the park opened at 10:30) so everyone who had rushed back to ride had to wait in a line that started just outside the sign. By the time the coaster opened, the line stretched down to the go karts. I am sure this delay was not intentional and after things got going the operations were great. They did struggle to get full trains with the pre show timing as discussed. We only got two rides on the coaster because of the delayed opening, so I can't wait for ERT on the 28th! Overall, this blows away (theme wise) anything I have seen at any Six Flags park. Well done!
  2. 12/20 for me. All but one of my correct answers I knew. I was hoping to get some luck on my guesses, but it didn't happen!
  3. ^^The cost to build such a thing is more than Magic Mountain spends on even their most expensive rides. Pipe dreams!
  4. I think Scream is alright until I head north and ride Medusa. How is it that two coasters that are similar in layout can be so different in the experience they deliver? Medusa is smooth like buttah and Scream is pretty rough and much more intense because of it. It is a good ride, but there is a reason it sits lonely in the corner without a long line.
  5. Ok I just registered. You scared me to it! Thanks for putting this together Robb! I can't wait.
  6. Congratulations Big Mike! You deserve all of your success and recognition. I just hope it doesn't go to your head! BTW I love how that picture from the Excalibur has made it to the front page of this thread!
  7. I agree with Chuck in regards to Sinbad's Storybook Voyage at DisneySea. We walked around for four days singing the only English part of the ride's song. "The compass of my heart!" That ride really blew me away and IMO is one of Disney's finest dark rides. (I was surprised because no matter how busy the park was, it was a walk on!) Zach I agree with the Looney Tunes River Ride in Movie World Australia. My only complaint was that the ride lasted a bit too long, but it was quite an elaborate experience, like just about everything else at that park.
  8. ^^Mechanic's crew probably takes up 1/3 of the registration! BTW, what a nice family you have! I am trying to work things out and should be able to register soon. I can't wait for this!
  9. ^I think Big Mike and I both agree that every coaster is good for at least one go around, no matter the pain involved! Credit Whores FTW!
  10. Big Mike you are too funny! Thanks for the media day coverage of Bizarro. It looks like Six Flags did a great job with it!
  11. Here is a photo from my travels in Australia. It is amazing to me how many spiders we saw during our time there. This photo was taken not in some out of the way place, but inside the Sydney Botanical Gardens in the middle of the Sydney Central Business District! In this area we saw hundreds of these spiders. They sure don't make them like that here in Vegas!
  12. Thanks. I really like this park. I have been there three times now, with my first visit being just after they started to phase out the Camp Snoopy stuff. I can't believe they now have five coasters in there. I am looking forward to my next Minneapolis trip so I can see the new Nick theming. It is great to see the park as envisioned in its original state.
  13. May I just say that I am utterly and completely jealous of everyone. I wish I could get away tomorrow for this. HAVE FUN EVERYONE!
  14. Like Robb said, this is most likely a drawing or painting. It does not look like the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk to me. The picture that you posted is taken from the beach looking back. SCBB does not go out over the water.
  15. I could be wrong, but it looks like a drawing to me. Perhaps it isn't a picture of a coaster.
  16. We were there a couple of years ago and took the bus from the main station in downtown Auckland. (A 20 minute walk from the tower.) There is a tourist information office in the Sky City at the base of the tower and they will be able to give you the route information for the bus. If I remember correctly, the bus fare was much cheaper than a taxi (there was 3 of us) and the ride took about 35 minutes going and 45 coming back, because of traffic. The bus dropped us off at a mall directly across the street from the theme park. We even left the park to get lunch at the mall because it was so close. The park itself is rather small, but we really liked it, mainly because the employees were so nice. They have two big go kart courses, a mini golf, bumper boats and a fairly large drop tower in addition to a log flume and three coasters. You definitely will not be disappointed, but if its not busy don't expect to spend more than 3 or 4 hours there. Enjoy New Zealand. IMO it is the most beautiful country in the world. (Out of the 17 I have been to!) Also, we purchased a special tourist pass (think CityPass here in the U.S.) which included admission to the Sky Tower, an aquarium, a ferry ticket to Rangitoto Island and admission to Rainbow's End. It worked out to be about half of the price we would have spent buying admission separately. The aquarium was cool and even had a free shuttle from the tower and Rangitoto Island is fantastic and offers stunning views of the area. You can buy the pass from the tourist information desk at the base of the tower!
  17. Thanks Shane. I just missed Astroworld by a year and a half. As always, I love this thread!
  18. Thanks for the report. I agree that Luna Park Sydney is small, but it does have quite a bit of charm and its location is stunning. It looks like you made the same mistake as me and skipped out on the Coney Island indoor section. I didn't know what was inside until Brent told me. Thanks again for sharing.
  19. OK I tried again on a second computer and timed it. My results were about the same as before. It took 8 minutes for the video to load. I am on Cox 8 mb/s high speed internet. I guess there is lag between your server and my ISP since I don't have speed issues with youtube or other video sites. Thanks for the great video Robb!
  20. I also have the problem with slow loading times on Coastertube. Even on the standard definition videos it can take quite a while to load.
  21. ^CGA can not and will not compete with SFDK. SFDK clearly has better rides and on top of that adds all of the shows. With that said, I still think there is room for both parks in the market. Obviously in order for CGA to survive it will need new rides and like someone said before, with the park on the chopping block, who knows if Cedar Fair will spend the money for that. (They aren't in the best financial position.)
  22. Big Mike I just got back from out of town and caught up on this thread. I am enjoying the Las Vegasthon! It is great to relive that magical day where you taught me the ways of Big Mikeness!!! Thanks for stopping me from selling my body to ride Miner Mike. I don't know what I was thinking!
  23. I wish that I could say Big Mike was exaggerating with the go kart story, but he really kicked my ass! (Don't ever underestimate him. It wasn't even close!) Thanks for a great day! I can't wait to see the rest of the Las Vegasthon.
  24. They have been using that lot for construction staging for the World of Color for several months now. There is an access door under the bridge that goes over California Screamin as it comes out of the station.
