  1. ^Oh yeah, I remember Dinosphere. It was a ton of fun. My favorite motion simulator rides are Soarin' over California and Star Tours. I haven't been on many simulators, but these two are a lot of fun. Soarin' really made me feel like I was flying.
  2. I have dealt with line jumping before, but not as severe as the stories mentioned above. I do remember it happening A LOT at Disneyland during the summer. The heat makes people much less patient, resulting in more line jumping. On a random note about queue lines, does anyone else agree that Splash Mountain and Indy's indoor queues are horrible because of body heat? That's could also result in line jumpers.
  3. I don't think the ride operators are not HORRIBLE. I also work at CGA, and I have been sent to Demon on numerous occasions. If anything, Demon has the most strict rule enforcements. The operators actually say "Check" when checking the restraints, and they ask the guests to pull on their seat belts. Maybe you just encountered one of those less than ideal employees. Those associates are at SFDK too, along with good operators. I'm not saying that the ride operators are all perfect, just that some don't take their jobs seriously. But the ones that do care about their jobs should be praised. Okay, let's go back to talking about the two Haunts, not a flame war about Norcal vs. Norcal.
  4. I can pretty much dish out any ride after eating, with the exception of Zippers and Enterprises. However, I feel much more sick if I ride on an empty stomach. I've ridden Invertigo at CGA on a full stomach and it didn't affect me in the least. I guess I'm just a lucky one.
  5. Right now, I'm taking physics at school (it's only offered to juniors and seniors) since, of course, roller coasters follow the laws of physics. I think it's a pretty fun class, even if it involves quite a bit of math. On the subject of coasters, one of the word problems involved the Demon Drop at Cedar Point. I guess the book is a bit old, don't you think? Is anyone else taking/already took physics?
  6. I'm going to Haunt tomorrow night. It will be fun...
  7. ^Actually, CGA's Drop Tower has an Overweight light too. That's what Gumball is asking about. As for me, I'm not sure why balancing is a problem. I've never worked at DT.
  8. NOOO! Speed is the best coaster in Vegas. I wish it didn't have to close, because then the only options will be: Arrow headbanger, or Togo headbanger.
  9. Thanks for the explanation! I can't wait for the Haunt at CGA!
  10. I have a question: What is a "slider"?
  11. I've never been on a coaster when it vallied. But I have operated a coaster while it vallied. Invertigo at CGA. The train didn't catch onto the lift at the end so we had to E-Stop it. Luckily no one got hurt, and the coaster was back up later that night, but I don't remember how long.
  12. We're now one step closer to making the Wisconsin State Fair a reality!
  13. Yeah, it's not that bad. But yesterday, it was a little rough, but not a surprise, it's 10 years old.
  14. ^That's exactly why we're not supposed to say. But yeah, the ride is still safe, and you may notice that there are some new parts on the train. However, it's still Vekoma, and has headbanging.
  15. I'm not supposed to say what happened, I've been trained to say, "the ride was experiencing technical difficulties." So politically correct, huh?
  16. UPDATE: Today, Invertigo finally opened up! Lines weren't long though.
  17. Update! Today, the ride was performing test cycles, but I was off around 3pm, so I don't know if it opened up yet. Yay progress!
  18. ^Yeah, right now I believe Vortex has the most flags. It looks like they're pwning everyone else.
  19. ^You know, your idea sounds pretty good. Too bad we have to stick with holding the airgates until management comes up with a better idea. But on topic, I don't understand why the crew members are being so slow. If someone has a big problem with it, they should talk to guest relations. Also, at CGA, we are usually told by our supervisors to move faster if we slack off.
  20. ^Yup, that's defenitely up there in TPR history...
  21. So far, I haven't seen much progress on the ride. I still don't know when it is slated to reopen.
  22. At my home park (and job) CGA, there is no queue management system. Basically, everyone has to wait in the lines. There is no standby-fastpass, just regular queues. Unless you come on a busy day such as July 4th, or the day of a big concert, Weekend lines shouldn't be more than 30-40 minutes for the most popular rides. Weekdays are not crowded at all, with most rides having 10 min. or less waits. However, for disabled guests, you can obtain a "Special Access Boarding Pass" which allows you to enter the ride through the exit. Here's the catch: if the line is less than 30 minutes, the ride op lets you on at that time. But if it is more than 30 minutes, the op will give you a return time (sort of like fastpass). So when the disabled person gets on the ride, they get to pick their seat (usually the front on coasters). What angers me, is that many people that have these disabled passes, don't appear to be disabled at all. Many of them are able bodied, and don't seem to have any mental disabilites, but that is another story. Other than the disabled policy, all other guests wait in the line, so the only way we can shorten the wait times is to have good throughput.
  23. ^Yeah, I just got home from closing the park. I was working at Psycho Mouse and Centrifuge the last few hours. I noticed we were pretty crowded today. It was good to see the park doing well. So right now, I don't know what's going on with Invertigo. It is still down, and I'm still not sure when it is going to open. Just hang in there. Hopefully it will open in time for Haunt.
  24. Nope, that was for summer vacation only. Last week, on weekdays the park was open till 6, Saturday: 10, and Sunday: 9. Now, for Labor Day weekend, Sat and Sun are open till 10 with fireworks both days, Mon until 8. After Labor Day Monday, weekday operation ceases.
