  1. Great trip report, Jahan. You never disappoint! I'm looking forward to the next installment.
  2. While I don't condone what this person did... mix the heat, with screaming kids, high prices for everything, crowds, long lines, and then some yokel trying to steal your teacup? That's a recipe for disaster.
  3. Great trip report! I bought one of the cups you freeze (You can see it on the right side) and when I put it in the freezer, the cup cracked! Ah, the quality craftsmanship that is Six Fllags.
  4. ^ Same.. right after I find a flight to Pennsylvania, right?
  5. ^ My mistake, I didn't realize that there was any such rule in place.
  6. Ya know.. that guy is probably on break.. You don't expect them to be working ten hours straight with no break, right?
  7. My name didn't win but it made the top ten. Here's the email I recieved from Mark White. I "bolded" my name near the bottom of the email.
  8. You can thank Corey (CoasterRealm) for that. I agree, it's little things like that that make the whole park look nicer. As a wise man once said, it's the little things in life that make it special. Perhaps the same ideology can me used for amusement parks.
  9. Perhaps I am the minority, then? I personally felt that Dragsters launch, mostly due to how long it lasted, killed Xcelerators launch. However, to each his own.
  10. Believe it or not, Xcelerator's launch is, in fact, slightly more intense than TTD's. I have heard that, and while I find it to be technically true, Dragsters launch feels much more intense due to it's length.
  11. I emailed them all showing my support for your project. Good luck!
  12. While I find the launch to be boring (After Top Thrill Xcelerator doesn't feel all that exciting either to be honest). It is as others said a great ride that families can enjoy together. However, I do recall someone saying that it is a very expensive ride to run. If that is the case, is it physically possible (and financially worth it) to "change" the launch system? From LSM's to say, LIM's? It's a very "out there" suggestion I realize, but perhaps it would be cost effective in the long run.
  13. I went this summer from the 25th to the 27th, and it was hot the first two days and at the end of the third day sprinkled. Thus ending our trip.
  14. Let me put it this way. They could put millions of dollars to "improve" Hurler, or they could take that same amount of money, scrap Hurler and get a nice Renegade clone. Neither of which will be happening anytime soon I suspect.
  15. ^ Amen... When I went to Cedar Point this summer they closed down Millennium Force before it even started raining! It was a good twenty minutes before the rain started, and when it did they closed EVERYTHING. Seriously, the only rides open were indoors, except for Disaster Transport as I believe it leaks.. heh. I don't see what the big deal is with this "incident" the trains could not have been going more then 5 miles an hour. Hardly fast enough to cause any long, or even short term damage.
  16. What's "funny" (as in strange) is that a neighbor was banned from all Disney parks due to an outburst on the tea cups.. There must be something about the plastic.. hmm..
  17. That's amazing in a creepy way.. That thing gave me chills.
  18. Well they did Hulk at Islands Of Adventure, and the Hollywood coaster in Japan, as well as the Dueling Dragons. So it isn't like they have never done an outside ride before, I'm sure they know what they're doing. This ride looks cool, I don't really know what else to say about it. I don't know much about Maurer attractions. I'd like to see more concept art on this.. I feel like I know next to nothing about the ride.
  19. I second that. That ride is insane when you really get it going.
  20. Why even compare the deluxe SFMM pass to the absolute base DLR pass? 1. The $125 SFMM pass gives you free parking, free Flash Passes, a coupon book with free tickets, 25% discount on all merchandise and food, 2. The $129 Disney pass has tons of block out dates (basically EVERY weekend, nearly the entire summer season), no free parking, 10% discounts at select locations. The only comparison that would work would to compare the $125 pass to DLR's deluxe $380 pass. He was suggesting that $125 be the price for the base Six Flags pass. Which gets you unlimited entry for one season. So my comparison of the base Six Flags pass and the base Disneyland Resort pass remains valid.
  21. Why in Gods name would I pay $125 for a Magic Mountain season pass, when I can get a Disneyland pass for $129? People may pay a lot of money for a brand new video game system or an iPhone, but not to get into a Six Flags park. Around $90 is a good deal, $60 isn't enough, and $125 if far too much.
  22. I did in August of 2006. The one, and only time I rode Psyclone.. no regrets here!
  23. Amen. I know where I'll be headed next time I'm at Magic Mountain. The park looks fantastic, I am very tempted to bear the crowds and check out the park during spring break!
  24. Some of you may know (although most probably do not) that I go to Disneyland on a nearly weekly basis. And a vast majority of the time I bring back at least a small update of what is going on at the park. So I am going to the park tomorrow, to get some pictures of Toy Story Mania, and hopefully some testing shots of the new Monorail trains. Here is my first Disneyland trip report: Welcome to the Disneyland Resort… oh jeez.. it looks crowded already. This looks.. promising.. not. This tram is different then most at the resort. Oh, the lines aren’t so bad at all! We went to Indiana Jones to snag some fast passes, in order to maximize our ride time. The dreams suite above Pirates of the Caribbean The first stop of the day, and my personal favorite, Haunted Mansion! Ah! A ghost! Oh.. wait, it’s just a flash. One of the stretching portraits in the elevator. I bought a deck of cards where all the face cards were one of the four portraits! And for only five dollars! Gee.. I’m a sucker. One of the infamous bat chain knobs. They look pretty cool, actually! After our ride on the Haunted Mansion we strolled over to the Pirates of the Caribbean. We then got a fastpass for Splash Mountain. One of several “Mountains” to be found on the resort, a fantastic log flume. After we got a couple of fastpasses we went to use our passes for Indiana Jones. Sadly, I didn’t take any pictures of our favorite adventurer, so on to the Jungle Cruise to burn some time while waiting to ride Splash Mountain! All bow to the ancient elephant god! This is new since the last time I rode, a cool sequence actually. There is an explosion over near the cans of gasoline, followed by a cheesy Cast Member line. It’s the backside of water! A one of a kind, elephant.. except.. not. Animal activists complained due to the terrible ear wiggling disease that has infected all the Hippos! Well after a ride on Splash Mountain (No photos as I had my camera in the backpack to keep it dry. So over to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad we go! Big Thunder signage. The finale here used to be much cooler, if I remember correctly. The mountain of Big Thunder. Big Thunder has a great train, very well themed. The second lifthill of the ride, the ride utilizes three lift hills for multiple show sequences I believe. Someone correct me if I am mistaken. There is some decent airtime on this ride. Well, for a Disney attraction at least! After our spin on Big Thunder we decided to go ride the Matterhorn, in order to finish up our rounds of the park! My favorite mountain at the park, the Matterhorn! This paint scheme seems so.. 1970 to me. “May the power of Christ compel you!” (He’s exorcizing the Arrow from this attraction) After we rode the Matterhorn, it was time to head over to Disneyland’s younger sibling that no one likes, California Adventure! Yay! They were running at max capacity over at California Screamin’. This train is about to launch. Now on to the Toy Story Mania update portion of this trip report. The building is looking great! Another look. There will be a gift shop at the exit of this attraction. The logo for this attraction, a little small, but it gets the point across, right? At this point we had gotten a fastpass for California Screamin’ and we’re off to tour the rest of the park. This ride is great, but lacks in popularity. We walked to Mullholland Madness and hopped into the twenty minutes queue. The work is moving along for the added rooms for the Grand Californian hotel. An interesting map attached to the side of the ride. After we took a spin on California Screamin’ (we saw the Toy Story Mania vehicles testing) we headed back to Disneyland. After spending an hour trying to find something to eat on main street (due to indecision on my brothers and I’s part) we met up with the rest of our family at Indiana Jones. They want your blood. But your first born would be good too! After a few more re-rides and a cancellation of the fireworks it was just about time to head home. The secret to surviving a shark attack, revealed! To infinity and.. dorks.. Main Street all lit up pretty . And that was our day at the Disneyland Resort! I had a lot of fun, as usual and hope to go back soon. Thanks for reading!
  25. I think of it as "Overpriced KFC". I would definitely hit Magic Mountain and Disneyland, they are the "Cream Of the Crop" as far as amusement parks go in the Southern California area. Disney has great theming, and good thrill rides where as Magic Mountain has the best thrill in the state and little theming. So between the two parks you will find the perfect balance of thrill and theme. Also, I would not recommend Knott's, it is nothing to write home about. Especially when you have Disneyland and Magic Mountain so close.
