  1. ^ That is exactly what I was thinking when I saw the drawing of the station a couple weeks ago. It looks exactly like a horse stable.
  2. Thanks guys. I am sure that you will have a good time as DW is pretty awesome. ^^Hey wait, tuxedomask5432, you are from Atlanta?^^ You should come ride with us sometime!
  3. This year I have visited: California Great America SF Discovery Kingdom Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Dollywood SFOG (my home park, many times) Later this year: Hard Rock Park Alabama Adventure Dixieland Fun Park Family Kingdom Myrtle Beach Grand Prix Dollywood again and of course SFOG many more times
  4. ^I am meaning the drop, not the actual height. I knew someone was going to correct me on that. The drop on AC is 210 feet and the drop on Goliath is 170. That is what I meant by height.
  5. Good trip report! I will totally agree with you about AC. I was not impressed at all. It is only my second B & M Hyper. I have the pleasure of riding Goliath at my home park (SFOG) every couple of weekends so I may be biased, but when I rode AC last October, it doesn't hold a candle to Goliath. I have yet to ride Nitro, but I get the feeling that I will love that one as well. I rode AC 4 times in the front, middle and twice in the back and while it did provide airtime, it just wasn't the airtime that I get from Goliath and it isn't even as high as AC. Although I think that BGE is a beautiful park, I agree that their coaster collection was not the most exciting. I like BGA MUCH better. Heck, I even liked Kings Dominion better.

    Sad

Hey there Robb, My apartment was broken into on Monday and all of my DVD's including my TPR videos were stolen. I am so sad as I love to watch the videos in the off season and also when coasterfreak80 and I are gearing up for trips. I know this is probably a shot in the dark and I wouldn't expect it, but do you think that you could at least just send me a replacement of the "Coasters in the Raw" DVD? I had the first 6 DVD's and the Jiggity Johnsons DVD as well, but I know that would be too much to ask. Thanks and I am really enjoying the updates from the Europe Trip. You guys have fun! I am jealous. Rob
  7. John, make V2 your number 400. It is the only one of its kind in the world (because of the 45 degree inline twist) and it is fun. I just rode it 2 months ago.
  8. I haven't hit my 100th yet, but here are the milestones I have hit: 1st-Dahlonega Mine Train (SFOG) 25th-Not sure 50th-Top Gun (Afterburn-Carowinds) 75th-Giant Dipper (Santa Cruz Boardwalk) My last credit was Mystery Mine (Dollywood) Hoping to hit 100 this season.
  9. No way! SFOG is my home park and Goliath is amazing. It is my favorite coaster out of the 83 I have ridden. I rode Apollo's Chariot last October and while I did like it, it has nothing on Goliath. I rode AC 4 times in the front and back and it didn't make a difference. There was some airtime but not anything like the 3 to 4 seconds of air time you get on every hill on Goliath. I can't wait to ride other hypers besides AC to compare, but from what I've heard Goliath rates at the very top.
  10. Did anyone forget the Giant Dipper at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk was in The Lost Boys a good bit and also in Dangerous Minds. Also the movie Fear had some wood coaster in it. Then of course there is Final Destination 3. The beginning of Knocked Up has them riding Excelerator, Silver Bullet and Knott's drop tower (forget what it's called.)
  11. I don't get to marathon a lot at my home park because there are almost always lines and I am not going to wait to marathon, but at the beginning of this coaster season, my buddy and I rode Goliath (SFOG) 15 times in a row without getting off. It was amazing but after 15 rides I was blacking out on the helix. It was nuts!
  12. SFOG is my home park and coasterfreak80 (Scott) and I go on Sunday afternoons when we go. The crowds aren't half as bad as Saturdays, even better if you can hit it first thing in the morning.
  13. ^ Hey thanks so much! Thank you Robb for putting our report up too! I love this site! We had so much fun on this trip and let me tell you that the customer service at Dollywood is amazing! Thanks to everyone that has checked the report out so far, it means a lot to us!
  14. ^I didn't notice that the top was missing till I saw the pic. You know what was strange is that I remembered the top being on it the day before, so I guess they may have been working on it or something. Regardless, it was still broken down and we didn't get to ride it and someone told us that the ride program was extremely slowed down from the one that is in Germany. They said it was too "intense" for a family park. LAME!
  15. Hey Matt, it was nice meeting you guys as well. We had so much fun this weekend and consider Dollywood one of the best parks that we have visited. I would love to come back for the November event. Now I want to ride Thunderhead as much as possible. I found it to be amazing. Thanks for being so nice and talking to us. We will definitely be back!
  16. I was the other guy on this trip and I liked Delerium better. It spun a lot more. I love spinney go pukey rides, Scott doesn't so much. The Fireball swung higher, but didn't spin as much.
  17. Montu without a doubt kicks so much ass! It is so long and has a ton of forceful inversions and the fact that it dives in and out of caves is amazing to me. I have also ridden several SLC's, Alpengeist, Batman, Volcano, V2, both Top Guns, and both Dueling Dragons. Montu still takes the cake for me though.
  18. SFOG is my home park and IMHO it is one of the best of the SF chain. I would say that you would be ok for a Friday, but you may not get to hit everything. The definites are Goliath, Mindbender, Superman, Georgia Scorcher, and GASM, in that order. Unless you need/want the credits, Ninja and GA Cyclone are terrible. Mine Train, Canyon Blaster and Batman are fun, but not neccesary. The best seats on all of the definites is definitely the back. If you manage to get two rides on Goliath, try the front too. Honestly, anywhere you sit on Goliath is amazing though. It has the most airtime of any coaster I have been on and out of the 80 or so coasters I've ridden, it is still my favorite. On the first day of this season my coaster buddy and I rode it 15 times in a row without even getting out of our seats! If there is a big crowd, I would get a flash pass. As far as flats, I am ashamed to say that my park doesn't have many good ones. I don't do drop rides, but have heard that Acrophobia is the best one. Other than that, the Wheelie is ok, Monster plantation is really hokie, but fun and shake, rattle and roll is just a scrambler in the dark. I would hit all the coasters you want first though before doing any flats. If I was off of work, I would come hang out for sure, but unfortunately the responsible adult in me has to work. I hope you have fun!
  19. Dang, can I have a top 5 please? The absolute worst would probably be a tie between Demon at CGA or what used to be the Borg at Carowinds. They both had neck popping power. I actually heard my neck pop on the Borg. I got off in so much pain. The third would probably go to GA Cyclone at my home park. I try and ride it at the beginning of the season every year just to see if it has gotten any better and I am proved wrong every time. It is just the roughest wood I have ever ridden. You know that it is bad when there is no wait on a busy day! It needs to be burned down for sure. And yes Cyclone lovers, I have ridden it in every seat and no it does not get any better. The 4th would go to the TOGO death machine Shockwave at KD. Damn that heix slammed my ribs into the restraint and popped my neck. Screw you you POS! The last would be a tie between the Hurler at KD and the Grizzly at CGA. The Hurler was terribly rough. Slammed my ribs several times and I came away with bruises from that one. The Grizzly was just painfully slow and the most boring coaster EVER!
  20. Excuse me Mr. tmcdllr or whatever your name is, No I did not go to the park with a negative attitude. I went looking to have fun and their coasters still sucked my ass. I said that their flat rides were good. I am sure the coaster they are getting next year will be fun too, but CGA and Carowinds are both terrible compared to all the other parks I have been to and I have heard that Cedar Fair isn't doing that great with their Canadian park either. My post wasn't strange it's just that you didn't agree!
  21. Well I haven't ridden Dodenpa, but I love Hypersonic XLC. I was probably one of the last riders of it (October 07) and it was also my first ride and I really loved it. I still don't understand why so many people talk crap about it. I thought that it was pretty comfortable compared to some of the other crap I've ridden. I was totally expecting a head slam or broken legs, but to no avail. The only thing I didn't like were the breaks at the end, but I've experienced worse! I wish they would move it to SFOG and take out Georgia Cyclone or Ninja!
  22. Ok, I just have to say that me and my friend went to CGA when we went to San Francisco a couple of weeks ago and I must say that it was the lamest park I have ever been to. The coasters sucked! The only decent, and I do mean decent, thing they had was Flight Deck and even that was lackluster compared to its sister at Carowinds. The one redeeming quality was that it had a lot of good flat rides (inverted swinging ship, flyers, delerium, survivor, drop zone, etc.) Grizzly was the most boring coaster I have ever been on. Vertigo is a Vekoma so go figure. Demon was terribley painful! Vortex was lackluster as well. They really need to look into adding some more rides and make them good! If Carowinds and CGA are any indication of what Cedar Fair is doing then they better step up their game.
  23. Hey man I must have been there the same weekend you were. That band was playing then too. Anyway, a friend and I will be posting a PTR from our California trip sometime tonight. We were not too happy that THBS was not up and running when we were there and it makes me even more upset now to see that they threw it up in like a week or two. We were there all the way from Atlanta. The track parts were there when we were there. Just another missed credit! Although, the crowds were lite and I got to walk onto V2 at least 3 out of the 4 times I rode it!
  24. OK, so I got my copy of the Coasters in the RAW DVD quite a few weeks ago (along with TPR Videos 4, 5, & 6 and the Jiggity Johnsons Video.) I must say that after buying and watching almost all of the TPR videos, that RAW is the best one yet. It is so good to see POV's of so many new coasters that I have yet to ride. I also like the fact that you can hear the clickity clack of the coasters and the screams of their victims! There are so many good POV's of coasters that I want to ride like El Toro, Maverick, Voyage, Kanonen, Stealth and others. I don't know which part is better, the steelies or the woodies. I love them both. I hope that TPR will be doing more of these videos in the future because they are awesome! And at 10 bucks, who couldn't afford that? The commentary on the coasters is so funny to hear too. Other than Eejankwhatever its called and the GD bomb dropped every 5 seconds, it was a good commentary. I am sure that I would have been cussing too with all that roughness though, and btw, it isn't bleeped out, at least not on my video. Anyway, thank you Robb and Elissa for such a great site and wonderful videos that let us see and experience things we may never get to in real life! You guys are awesome.
  25. There are a lot of things I would like to see done for different parks that I went to this year: SF over GA(my home park): -Please retrack GA Cyclone and add Millennium Flyer trains (this coaster could be really awesome, but I will not be riding it again until they do something to improve it) or tear it down. There is no reason for them to let such a good coaster go to waste. -Scream Machine could use a retracking, but it isn't as bad as GA Cyclone and it is about 20 years older! -Get rid of Ninja! That thing sucks. Headbang city! -Get us more flat rides! There are all of 2: Acrophobia and the Wheelie. We could use a HUSS Frisbee or a Top Spin. Carowinds: -Something new in the coaster department. Their coaster selection sucks. Hyper please. -Tear down Borg! Most painful ride ever! -Retrack Hurler. BGA: -Very nice park! My favorite really, but please add more rides. I was very disappointed with the amount of rides. The coasters they have are kick ass, but they need a few more and some flats please. -Gwazi is fun, but needs Millennium Flyer trains. In fact all PTC trains on all coasters should be replaced with MF trains. BGE: -Also nice park, but the same thing as BGA, add more rides please. By the way, BGA is more beautiful than BGE IMO. I was very disappointed that BGE gets the "most beautiful themepark" award. I didn't think it was all that beautiful. They also need more animals. Lake Winnie: -Add more coasters. Get rid of your wild Mouse. I almost got whip lash on that thing. Wild Adventures: -With new ownership, hopefully this park will kick it up a notch. Please don't add anymore kiddie coasters (they have 5!) -Your animals are suffering!!! Please do something about this! Their enclosures are too small and it doesn't look like they are treated very well. This is not cool. -Retrack Cheetah and add MF trains. It is a great coaster, but could be 10 times better. -You have a kick ass selection of flats, but please get them all in working order. When I was there this summer, we didn't get to ride at least 5 flats because they were not working. -Add some better and bigger coasters. Universal: -Great job on a few rides, but I was VERY disappointed in rides like Earthquake and Twister. IMO, I would not visit this park again. The only ride that I felt was worth riding was The Mummy. IOA: -Great theming and coasters. Top Notch! Just add a few more coasters and flat rides and you will be one of my favorite parks.
