No thanks! I will now throw up from watching that video. I love coasters but I am scared of heights and anything going that high held by just chains makes my stomach churn! -
I was at the park this weekend and it was pretty busy and really hot! I had been to the park about 2 years ago and really liked Rampage a lot. This time though, while it was more fun than I remember it being and had more airtime, it was also extremely rough. It also felt really not maintained. There were times where it felt as if it was ripping off the track and there was one really bad pot hole after the second drop before the turn around that slammed my back pretty good both times I rode it. And yes, I did hold my back off the seat. The other thing that I saw were bad operations. The height limit for Rampage is 48". There was a train that went out with two little girls in it that could not have been more than 3 or 4 years old and definitely were NOT 48 inches. I was actually a little concerned that one of them would even make it back to the station. Obviously the two teens working the ride did not care about their safety. Both of the girls I am speaking of were smaller than KidTums and one of them was in the back seat by herself. There is no way that this was a safe ride for either of them. The ride ops need to be more careful about this as it could end up in a law suit for the park. Other than that we had a great time and were there to celebrate my 34th birthday. Nothing can be better than riding coasters with your friends for your birthday!

Yes, it was said earlier in the thread that this was a direct copy of Anubis minus the launch and top hat. I, for one, am super stoked about this thing being in my backyard. I love Mystery Mine and it is nice to have another eurofighter in the US, and especially at my home park. I think people that have SFMM and SFGAdv take it for granted that they have such great rides when parks like SFOG only get a new ride every 5 years. Can't wait to ride DDD!
-
^^^AGREED! There is no reason for anyone that lives close to here to complain about it. We are getting a new coaster and it excites me beyond belief. And to think that it is a Eurofighter! I would have never thought that any SF would have gone with something as cool as that. I am just sooo happy that it is not a cookie cutter coaster. As much as I would have enjoyed a spinner, I am so glad that it is not that! And if it gets the six car V trains as rumored then it can claim that it has the first 6 car V trains in the country!
-
^^^Seriously? Did you expect a Six Flags to do something that was a prototype for the US? Come on. At least be excited that we are getting something new and it isn't a cookie cutter coaster like the THBS that was rumored. It is only the 3rd Eurofighter in the US! For one, I am super excited about this and glad that we are finally getting something new.

Jamie, I think all signs are pointing towards where Free Fall and the drive in theater have been/are. They have been working on that area for a while now. I also read that they are closing Shake, Rattle and Roll on August 8th to start clearing the area out. Thus it should be visible from the entrance/parking area. This is a surprise to me as I heard that all rumors were pointing towards a Tony Hawk Big Spin. Thank God we are getting a eurofighter instead!

Parks Coasters and Rides in Movies and TV

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but in 90210 they go to SFMM for their senior trip and ride Viper. -
Best Drops....
coasterbear30 replied to BiCoastal Kid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wood: Don't know that I have ridden enough to say but I get to ride Voyage, Raven, Legend, Beast and KY Rumbler in a few weeks...I would say as for now that Rampage probably was one of the best wooden drops; oh and I forgot this one but Swamp Fox has an OMG moment on the first drop...ejector airtime!!!! Steel: SheiKra, Deja Vu, Goliath SFOG (Back row OMG amazing), Intimidator 232 first drop (even though the rest of it sucked balls) -
Best GCI Woody
coasterbear30 replied to I_am_Em0_0's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have only ridden Thunderhead and Roar west and Thunderhead is definitely the better of the two. I get to ride KY Rumbler next month so I will see how it compares. I love GCI's and Thunderhead and Roar are my top 2 woodies. -
Just throwing my ten cents in there (^no pun intended...) I have ridden Goliath, AC and Intimidator and I would rate Intimidator last. The day I went I rode it in the front and the back and was severely disappointed in the ride overall. The first drop was good but after that it just lost all speed and the the trims on the two hills just killed any good airtime to be had...I am riding Diamondback next month and I will see how it compares but I just feel like the longer trains make the coaster lose a lot of speed. They creep over the top of the hills where as the 4 across seating seems to fly over the hills much faster. So as far as what I have ridden to date, I rate them like this: 1. Goliath 2. Apollo's Chariot 3. Intimidator PS- B & M hypers are my favorite coasters out there and Intimidator didn't even break into my top 10.

Best and Worst Arrow Mine Trains
coasterbear30 replied to bgwfreak777's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am from Atlanta and I can tell you that Dahlonega is one of the worst out there. It is so rough and jerky and I can promise I won't ride it again. As far as really smooth ones, the only one that I have ridden that was really smooth and fun is Iron Horse at Freestyle Music Park but I guess that if you have not ridden it then you won't get that chance. -

I agree with you about Thunderhead and Roar. Both great coasters. I don't know why but I guess some people either like it rough or just get some good rides somewhere on GA Cyclone because in the last 4 years I have only ridden it 4 times and it was brutal every time. I have sat in the "magic" seat too and I just can't enjoy any airtime there is to be had because it is bashing my body so bad. As far as AC, I thought it was better than Intimidator 232 but not better than Goliath. I agree the setting for AC is the best though. Maybe I just need to ride 232 again but the 2 rides I got on it a few weeks ago were really really boring. -

WOW! You rated GA Cyclone and Intimidator 232 really high. I am surprised. GA Cyclone is at the top of my worst coaster list and Intimidator 232 was super disappointing to me. Granted I get to ride Goliath every weekend and I have ridden AC but I232 just had no airtime to me. The first drop was the only part I liked. Glad you liked the souths parks though! -
Carowinds Discussion Thread

My only thing is that you should not have to ride a coaster 50-100 times to get a good ride out of it. A couple of times should be enough. ALMOST any coaster is going to have a good ride at some point. -

I was at the park on April 24th and I don't know if it was a bad day for the ride. I mean it was threatening to rain and there were low clouds all day. I know how things like that can effect a rides performance. But all joking aside, maybe I just had too high of hopes for the ride. As I stated before B & M hypers are my favorite type of coaster out there and I was really excited about this ride but from the front to the back it really did not make a difference. This thing did not even break into my top 10. I would rather ride Afterburn if that tells you anything. The only thing I guess that could have effected my ride was that all the trims were on and although they were not on super hard they still just totally ruined the ride for me and the 10 other people I was with. No one thought it was that good. Then again, we are from Atlanta (3 hours away) so that may have been the reason too. Pufferfish, sorry I missed you. I think you were in the dispatch box when we rode. -

Goliath is about 8 miles from me and I have ridden it close to 200 times and I can say that I have NEVER had a ride on it that sucked. It is unfortunate that they trimmed Intimidator to death and I am afraid that unless they turn off the trims then it will always be a lackluster ride. -

^^^I rode it in the 2nd to front seat and I rode it in the back. Neither mattered. They were both extremely weak. The trims and I think the length of the train totally kill any airtime there was to be had. It is pretty sad actually as I had really high hopes for this coaster. -

I love B & M hypers. They are my favorite coasters out there, along with dive machines. I went to Carowinds last weekend with my boys and I must say that I was SEVERELY disappointed with Intimidator. I fully expected it to beat out Goliath SFOG (my #1 steel) because it is higher and faster and has a steeper drop but the only thing I liked about it was the first drop. The rest of it sucked. It didn't even break my top 10 like I thought it would. They trimmed it too much and after the MCBR there was nothing...no forces, no airtime, nothing. I kept hearing good reviews but it just did nothing for me. I have never been more sad about a coaster I thought that I was going to absolutely love. -
Me and some friends went there on opening day and I can attest to the "getting the crowds pumped" thing. It made me so mad because all they were doing was wasting time when there were a lot of people waiting in line and they were only running one train operations that day too. Add on top of that that they did not open any of the coasters until 2 hours after the park was open and when a train would pull into the station, they would not open the airgates until the train was completely empty and the riders had left the station. It was so infuriating. Six Flags is not setting a good record for themselves if they are trying to impress anyone or up their reputation.
