  1. I hear ya on the towers. Too this day they and ferris wheels are the only things that I'll ride, but feel uncomfortable while doing so. It's not so much the heigh tpart, it's being stopped at the top that I hate.
  2. Well that's... different. "Too bad you can't ride in the ball." -My girlfriend Ali
  3. More difficult, but most likely cheaper.
  4. A tag on the track says it's for OCT Beijing, unless it was photoshopped, it's legit.
  5. I'm assuming the track's been moved to Beijing, they're supposed to have it open this year.
  6. Yup, already track on site for the Chinese flying coaster. http://www.rcdb.com/ig3141.htm
  7. Brewer, I go to Florida every year for Halloween Horror Nights around that time and I haven't had any weather problems at all. (By the way, HHN is definately worth checking out if you've never been)
  8. Hey, it's not as bad as Thunder Dolphin. That first inversion looks pretty interesting.
  9. http://klockster.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=16&pos=3 This morning Screamscape added a link showing track for Worlds Of Fun 2006 B&M. Can anyone distinguish the difference between inverted and floorless track?
  10. I must have caught Mr. Six on a good day, I only waited 10 minutes at the beginning of the season, had to use Q-bot the next couple of times.
  11. What do you mean by 520? Height? Was this the park that was originally going to get that "swine" coaster... remember the concept art that showed a massive steel coaster out over the water? What ever happened to that?
  12. When I went on SFGADV's Thrill Shot, it had the pod seats. I never knew the saddle-type existed prior to seeing that photo.
  13. Damn, I knew I left one out... At our fair (The Brockton Fair) Ride-All-Day was $16 and it was 12 tickets ($10) extra for Speed. They left Tango out thi syear.
  14. Sounds promising, looks like it will be heavily themed.
  15. Mine's the Skyscraper type ride, I finally got to ride one last night and I found it to be much better than any other "extreme" ride.
  16. Mondial Top Scans are my favourite flat rides. I've only been on two (Adventureland's Top Scan & Canada's Wonderland's Shockwave) That's why I want to try out the Star Shape. I wonder if High energy (that travels in Germany) has that many problems and a bad rep. Feel free to send Bling to the US. It would look nice on Morey's Piers in Wildwood, NJ.
  17. Last night I finally got to ride a skyscraper-type ride: the KMG Speed. It was well worth the 10 bucks. See KMG Speed in action. http://s48.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3P7F3LEI4W3OX2UHOIKXSBSOSV
  18. Well done TR. It's interesting how Blackpool has two "skyscraper" type rides right near each other. Right now Blackpool is my must-see park. I'm heading to the UK for the first time next summer. Is Bling usually open? Did it just close that one day or does it usually have problems? Thanks for the great TR.
  19. _____________________________________________________ http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/s_350453.html Kennywood may double its attractions By Michael Yeomans, TRIBUNE-REVIEW Wednesday, July 6, 2005 Kennywood Entertainment Co. officials will unveil major expansion plans today that could double the attractions at historic Kennywood Park, with the acquisition of 23 brownfield acres in neighboring Duquesne. The purchase is the third piece of its growth plan. Over the last decade, the company has stitched together a patchwork of residential parcels in West Mifflin, and last month acquired a shopping plaza anchored by a Kmart that closed two years ago adjacent to Kennywood parking lots. Taken together, the additions will nearly double the size of the century-old park. The park property is bisected by Route 837 -- Kennywood Boulevard -- with the 40-acre park on the Monongahela River side of the road and another roughly 40 acres of parking lots on the opposite side, connected by a tunnel under the road. Kennywood spokeswoman Mary Lou Rosemeyer said the company has long wanted to expand but was concerned about access to the park. She said that problem will be eased by the completion of a section of the $2.5 billion Mon-Fayette Expressway linking Interstate 376 in Monroeville to Route 51 in Jefferson Hills and including a junction with Route 837. The highway is about half complete but is missing critical links in the Monongahela Valley to serve struggling former mill towns such as Duquesne, Braddock and Turtle Creek. The company hired the Downtown consulting firm of Tripp Umbach to do an economic impact study of its three Western Pennsylvania theme parks, which also include the Sandcastle water park in West Homestead and Idlewild Park in Ligonier, Westmoreland County. Without giving details, Rosemeyer said the study will show that Kennywood Entertainment's three properties have the largest economic impact of any entertainment provider in the region. "We can be a real destination, if we can get the people in here," she said. Rosemeyer would not disclose the seller of the 23 acres in Duquesne, or whether the parcel is on the river, or on the east side or west side of Kennywood Boulevard. She said the company would not wait for the highway's completion before beginning the park expansion, which she said would include additional attractions and parking. She declined to provide details. Kennywood President Pete McAneny is to be joined by Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission representative Tom Fox today in unveiling the economic study and expansion plan. Brooks Robinson Jr., marketing director of the Regional Industrial Development Corp. of Western Pennsylvania, said it has not sold land to Kennywood. RIDC operates the Riverplace City Center of Duquesne industrial park, which is separated from Kennywood by a wide gully. The Union Railroad also owns a flat parcel of land along the river across the same gully. Turnpike Commission spokesman Joe Agnello said the design and right of way acquisition for the 24-mile leg of the expressway will take another four years. Depending on whether funding is available, construction could begin by 2010. "Kennywood adds another powerful voice for the project to move forward," he said. Looks like great news! A modern wooden coaster would be great for the park, but I'm just happy they migh tbe getting something new.
  20. Sweet, thanks for the update.
  21. Awesome, keep us posted! Should be interesting to see a Superman coaster with actual theming.
  22. Wow, with those brakes it must really not feel like a Vekoma now. The Flying Dutchman and LSM coasters are really well done, it's too bad the SLC's and boomerangs smear mud over the name. (at least with enthusiasts) Should be interesting to try Expedition Everest next year, Disney does great things with Vekoma equipment. Sean (Aerosmith + LSM Launch = Perfection) Costa
  23. Well... that would be nice... With the park running out of room for a big coaster on land, it going over the water would make sense. I'd expect CP's next coaster to be all about inversions, but not for a couple years. The height record is way out of reach and I personally hope they don't go for it, I'd rather see something interesting. All speculation at this point...
  24. Flight Of Fear would get the 'MTV Soundwave' treatment before it got torn down. I agree there's still enough room to build without removing a COASTER. I would expect a couple older flat rides to leave for new flats before any multi-million dollar coaster is axed.
