  1. That's a good point (about the aqua trax) It does look like the "desert" will have a little oasis near it.
  2. While I've seen a lot of people point out the uniqueness of Japan's coasters, I don't think I've seen a lot of complaining about them. If it's Americans that are "moaning" about them, most of them have probably never actually ridden one, and add to that the fact that this country is full of B&Ms, Intamins, CCI's, GCI's.... we're just spoiled. I personally find Japan's parks and coasters very interesting and wish I could make the 2007 trip out there.
  3. This thread WAS created for that very purpose, and when the nonsense got out of control I actually asked to have this topic locked because it just wasn't getting any information out. Add to that, the fact that for every ridiculous post, there's another three complaining about it. I like the fact that an update page was added to the site for CP's project, and that's where I'll be watching for updates, and I'm not in a rush to find out what it is right away. It's usually fun to figure this kind of stuff out but this thread is just TOO long and has gotten pretty silly.
  4. So they're finally going to build the RF2, awesome. And a drop tower I had no idea about... any idea on the manufacturer of the tower?
  5. I guess the Gerstlauer launcher would make more sense. Why would they get a US Premier coaster when you have beautiful German technology at your fingertips?
  6. Very cool, looks like you spent a lot of time on it. I would suggest adding custom supports and loading in some Superman images on banners around the ride, it would add to the visual appeal.
  7. I'm glad to see Log Jammer getting so much love... I found it outstanding, and I've been on about a couple dozen flumes. I don't know if it was because I rode it at night during my SFMM visit or what, the layout just seemed really long and hard to make out in the foliage, great stuff. Of course, I am riding Zoom Phloom Monday for the first time in like, 5 years so we'll see what I think then when my memory is refreshed.
  8. And it's even in your under-the-name signature... shame! That's the second case I've seen today of x is better than y even though I haven't been on y yet. Seriously though, this is good news to me that El Toro had a 40 minute wait on a Saturday, considering I'm going this Thursday to ride it for the first time. Being one of the few fans of Kingda Ka, I have to also ask why you wouldn't want to ride it every visit... just curious. I was hoping to get a few rides on it Thursday. Didn't even know it had reopened after the lightning strike, so for this info, I thank you.
  9. Wow, very randomly placed dark ride. If all the animatronics look like the ones in the boarding area, I've definately seen worse. Being a dark ride fan, I'll have to hit this on my visit to Dollywood next year. Thanks for the info and pics!
  10. The Sledgehammer looks awesome with the theming on it! Much better looking than Delirium and Maxair, and of course, better than Pizza: The Ride... I have the Huss catalog and the "Sledgehammer" is a suggested theme, one of several for the giant rides, looks just as nice as the artwork!Impressive!
  11. I thought SFMM's was nice because they actually had all their Batman rides in one area unlike a certain park close to me... I haven't been to SFOG yet but photos I've seen look pretty nice.
  12. Jeez... while Funtown isn't the biggest park and doesn't have the best selection of modern rides, I certainly wouldn't call them "ghetto". Excalibur and Dragon's Descent were really the only major additions for a while, but I found the park to be clean, the employees weren't too bad and ALL of the rides were running on my last visit. At least the locals will appreciate it...
  13. Ahhh! You should never have a favorite you haven't ridden yet! Dudley Do Right had a better layout with an overall "funner" ride experience, but the animatronics and level of detail of Splash MouNtain is outstanding. Don't be let down, ride it first!
  14. Hmm, very weird considering it wasn't long ago they put the first sign up. A possibility is that it's too similar to SheiKra's layout to say "like nothing else in the world". I mean, what else can you do with a dive machine? SheiKra was awesome, I'll be pleasantly surprised if they improve the design AGAIN. Especially if the rumor of the floorless cars is true. ::drool::
  15. Well... yeah I would hope so considering it loads in the western themed area of the park. About the only thing the signs tell us is it will have this "theme".
  16. That's too bad to hear, but I would wait until the guy has a full season's budget to work with before criticizing him. I'd rather see fewer characters than more closed rides with worse operation.
  17. The park is coming along nicely, I especially like the level of detail in your animal stadium. Keep up the outstanding work!
  18. Characteristics of a log flume? Ummm let's see... 1) Uses a conveyor belt lift to propel cars to the top of the circuit, usually more than one lift. 2) Uses a narrow log or "jetstream boat" that typically seats riders in a single row. 3) Floats on a water-filled trough but has contact wheels to coast down drops and splash into the water safely.
  19. I wouldn't want to see the coasters done any other way... All of A.B.'s B&Ms are quite awesome. (well I haven't ridden Great White but the rest are definately up there)
  20. The helix on SFMM's Goliath made me NEARLY black out, I guess what is known as a gray-out happened to me.
  21. Wow, very impressive! They just keep rolling out new products.
  22. I go to this park a lot, but I haven't been since Dragon's Descent (S&S tower) opened. All I can say is that they definately needed some help with their tiny waterpark and this looks like it will do nicely. Let them rake in some waterpark profits for a lil while and we'll see what they come up with in the park side in the near future.
  23. The cars look similar but the concept art shows the ride on coaster-type track rather than that, which looks like "borrowed" Test Track technology.
  24. Looks pretty cool, perhaps a Premier coaster like Italian Job.
  25. I'm pretty sure... I suually just unzip the whole thing right into that folder, those files included. All of the theming packs I mentioned before have worked for me by this method.
