Photo TR: SFGAd opening weekend
CoasterEricHP replied to DerekRx's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Wow.. It just hit me how amazing SFGadv's lineup of coasters is.. With the addition of El Toro, it has arguably the best overall.. anywhere! Hopefully the new management will improve the operation issues and all of the other small problems around the park. In a few more years Cedar Point may be in the rear view mirror of this park... maybe.. but they'll still be trying to catch up with Knoebels. Great TR by the way... I'll be out here in Pittsburgh waiting for Kennywood.. Eric -
Hey there, I did the College Program I guess it was.. two or three years ago. It was the best experience in my life. Just threw whatever I could fit in my car and drove down to FL from PA. Anyways, I was front desk at the Grand Floridian which was an honor in a way because there were only 2 of us there. It definately wasn't easy sometimes... but I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat. I still might look into some Advanced internships. I lived at Vista Way. I thought they were really nice places. I had 5 roommates in a 3 BR.. but we all got along for the most part. If you're anything like me and the great friends I made (some of who still work there btw) we spent most of our days off and nights hanging out in the parks or at Cocoa Beach, or at the pools and stuff there so space wasn't really a big issue. Even if all six of us were in the apartment it wasn't bad... we'd just end up betting $10 on Tiger Woods Golf games. I can't really tell you about Disney attractions, but I did work at Islands of Adventure (Dueling Dragons trainer) for a year after my program was up. Tower and Mansion are two of the most requested attractions I'm sure, but I wouldn't worry about things too much.. whats the worse they will give you.. thats right.. It's a Small World.. haha. Just be happy you're not quick service. Anyways like I said it can really test your character sometimes with some long hours and some long weeks, and you aren't going to get rich doing it.. but who cares? you only live once.. and you're working at Disney. You aren't having to worry about housing and all that other crap, so enjoy it! Another great thing is that pretty much everywhere else in the country.. they see Disney on your resume and you're pretty much in.. I'll stop rambling about pointless stuff now.. but ask any questions you have. Eric

New Rides at Hershey Park
CoasterEricHP replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Haha I hate that.. same on Splash Mountain. You usually just get splashed a little, but there's always that one ride where the water for some reason comes dumping in from all sides and you get soaked. I'd hate to see it go too, but it seems like a trend lately and flumes do take up a lot of space, which is at a premium. After they build the waterpark thing, if its in the plans for Coal Cracker to go, that'd be the logical time to do it. Although, a Goliath (SFOG version)/Apollo's Chariot would make me forget about the Coal Cracker real fast. Eric -
New Rides at Hershey Park
CoasterEricHP replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah Hershey has space.. I think it'd be an amazing spot if they could take out Coal Cracker (as sad as that would be..) and have a hyper run along the creek, over the Comet and pavilions and down towards Chocolate World.. It'd be possible if HERCO owns that land. Oh well, I cant wait for next year at this time to go play in the new water stuff.. oh wait.. that's pointless for Springtime in the Park! Ugh.. Not that Hershey is lacking great coasters.. we're just spoiled from getting so many so quickly. Eric -
New Rides at Hershey Park
CoasterEricHP replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, the waterpark is definate for '07.. unfortunately. I'm interesting in seeing the plans for this thing though. Midway America is torn up pretty good apparently. It sounds like the whole waterpark thing is more of a glorified waterplay area... AKA Bigger Duke's Lagoon.. I think they should use the Fairview Golf Course for a real waterpark if they want to go that route. I feel like a quasi-waterpark is dissapointing for a parks 100th anniversary. Even from a business standpoint.. Hershey has a nice collection of water rides already, and to tear up Midway America and make it something that can't even be used for the special (and HUGE moneymaking) events seems dumb. Eric -

Wow.. the Commons is full? That sucks! Is he at Vista or Chatham than? Or the one up by the Mall at Millenia with the Advanced Interns? Hopefully the poor guy wont be moved around much. -

Haha.. well I guess Wal Mart/Target talk is relevant.. it's important stuff to know! If you're going down 535 away from Disney, there's a "new" Target to the left at the 192 intersection. I think it opened a little less than a year ago. It's pretty nice too. However, When I lived down there I was a big fan of the SuperTarget by Millenia. I wish we had them up here.. -

I'm probably too late, but be sure to go to the nice Wal Mart off of 535! Then Target's right down the road from there. They are MUCH nicer than the one by Medieval Times. I'm jealous, I want to move back down there ASAP. Good luck! -
What is the scariest ride in the world?
CoasterEricHP replied to martinb's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Williams Grove Cyclone scared the living crap out of me.. it's been damaged by floods, and there are strange random straight sections of flat track.. I feared for my life. -
Hotels at Cedar Point
CoasterEricHP replied to metsfan11's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I stayed at Sandcastle and Hotel Breakers on some family trips.. I guess Sandcastle in '01 and Breakers in '02, while my friends and I stayed at Breakers Express this past August. My favorite walking distance one was Sandcastle.. definately. Its a lot more quieter and the rooms were nicer too. The walks a little longer but no biggie. Breakers is nice, but way more crowded. You're almost in the park though which is nice. And Breakers Express was really nice! If you want to save money and dont mind driving to the park thats a good way to go too. I'd say if u want to save some cash, Breakers Express. But if you want to feel less rushed and be able to walk everywhere, Sandcastle. -
PTR: Don and Monica's Massive Japan Update!
CoasterEricHP replied to Jeezus Juice's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Wow! Im always so jealous reading Japan TR's and seeing how awesome everything looks over there! I cant wait to see everything else! I'd definately consider going on a Japan Trip if I can scrounge up enough money before 07. Is everything really that easy to figure out over there? Thanks for the awesome read and.. look! Looking forward to the updates. Eric -
Apparently Dueling Dragons was supposed to be part of Animal Kingdom.. I'm not sure how much truth there is to that, but there are dragons on the benchs, and the original saying was "Real, Imaginary, and Extinct". When I worked at Dragons I was told that Disney had some issues with the designer and rejected the idea... if you never knew.. there are a lot of "hidden Mickeys" on Dragons. They are way too blatent to not be in my opinion. Here's a picture of them on the train, and there are also three bolts on top of the gray supports in the transfer track that are way to perfect not to be intended. Eric

Scott's Gihugic Florida Photo TR
CoasterEricHP replied to Scaparri's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When I worked at Dragons.. I always told the Hulk people they need to alter the ride to .. Launch-Zero G-Cobra Roll-Loop-Brakerun.. However.. my personal favorite part of the ride is the drop off the midcourse in the backrow.. but you're right. The Hulk isnt even a must ride anymore for me when I go back down to visit. As far as Dragons goes it definately is the best ride there!! It's also supposed to be going down soon for 2 weeks to be repainted. It definately needs it. Glad you had a great time at Universal. Looking forward to your feelings on Sheikra! Eric -

Great TR so far! Keep it up! I didnt realize the Skycoaster was $40! I think when I rode it like.. 3 years ago it was $20. Maybe it was a Disney discount or something.. who knows. It was fun, but its over so fast that you'd really have to ride it twice to get the full effect.. and that'd be grounds for bankruptcy. Cant wait to hear about the other parks! Great Kraken shot btw! The one looks like the huge head is about to eat them.. Eric -
Mission: Space at Epcot
CoasterEricHP replied to jumbach's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If you look at the wait times anymore.. I think just about everyone shares your views on Mission:Space.. Test Track and Soarin' will be at 60's or 90's in the wait time and Mission Space will have a 15.. I miss Horizons. Well, at least if they do something with the Wonders of Life they can butcher that and not lose a good attraction,. -
Hey there.. I rode it yesterday too.. 3 times. Once in front, once in back, and once in the middle. AMAZING. Like Jose said, just forget about that crappy video on the net, it doesnt do it justice at all. When I get back to PA on Weds I'll write up a Photo TR about it. But I'll say really quick, it's a perfect ride for Disney. Smooth, good show elements, and the main drop is really good! But the best part is the helix backwards! It packs a punch. TWO THUMBS UP! Plus they gave us a nifty " i conquered Everest" sunshade thing for your car. Going to ride it another time or two today.. Eric

Finally Six Flags Parks Go Smoke Free!
CoasterEricHP replied to GAcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah right.... *I* wouldnt be the one to go tell someone to put out their cigarette at SFA where shootings happen weekly in the parking lot! or SFMM, or SFMW. It's good press, but unless the price hikes detract from of the more "rough" individuals/locals from going.. I dont see this being enforced. Eric -
Fuji-Q Highlands Discussion Thread
CoasterEricHP replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
What do you think the chances are of this being a launched 4D? I could be wrong on the perspective, but it looks like there's not THAT much room for a lift hill.. but at the same time there is a cluster of footers that would support a 90 degree drop. Im jealous.. just hope it can be more reliable.
