Julie's Epic WDW Ongoing Trip Report!
CoasterEricHP replied to USRoadTripper's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
LOL.. Im still laughing at the carbonated pee.. Anyways i know im like.. a month late here but awesome TR!! Sort of depressed me though after pretty much living (and working) at the parks for the last two years Im stuck freezing my ass off here in PA! Anyways, I loved the cat picture from IOA! I totally forgot about them. I used to love being greeter at Dragons at close because like clockwork, right when the park closed, there are TONS of wild cats that run around. It's actually really fun. Once, we had to shut down the fire side for a few minutes because there was a cat just chilling on the brake platform.. and we didnt want a guest to kick it so sent an empty train and he was just chilling there.. didnt even phase him. haha. We ended up having to E-stop both sides and run out to there to chase him away! Alright, just wanted to have some story time. I MISS THE ADVENTURERS CLUB!!! (and the comedy warehouse) Eric -
Photo TR: Johnson's Weekend Getaway

Great TR! Could you see Everest from the top of the tower? I miss living in FL.. so sad. Im glad Universal finally updated the wait time signs. Are they all over the park or is it just when you walk in? Glad you guys had fun! Eric -
Stealth at Thorpe Park
CoasterEricHP replied to Jo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I like Stealth better than Humdinger.... I mean look at how sexy that logo is!? I think it's a great addition. Xcelerator is great, the overbanks just add a few seconds more of ride time. Hopefully there won't be the usual Intamin downtime. Eric -
Lets see here, I agree with RCTFan for the most part. I do see Indy leaving for probably another Indy themed ride. I doubt many people would even notice that the ride systems are the same as Dinosaur if they brought a DLR Indy type ride over. That ride is very very popular over there is it not? I just hope they dont build another DLP ride that they just cloned in Tokyo. I do think something big needs to be done with that whole half opposite of Tower at MGM. I always wonder when/if Disney will try to appeal to the teens by adding a few more extreme thrill rides like a Sheikra or Hulk/Dragons.. It'd be cool to see that half of the park turned into the rumored "villians" type park if Disney isnt willing to add the 5th gate yet in Orlando. I really doubt that though, or any huge renovation of MGM. Closing half the park would cause such an uproar and overcrowding there that they'd either have to close the entire park down (which wont happen) or rehab the entire park over like.. 10-15 years. As for everything else.. Star Tours 2 I'd believe. Wonders of Life will be going the way or Horizons in a few years (even though Horizons was superior) and the Candlelight stuff has always been HUGE so unless they are adding on to it to make it an even larger event, I dont see any changes coming to that I hope.. My angry letter to Universal Orlando
CoasterEricHP replied to BarryH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm chiming in kind of late here but yeah.. having worked at Universal (Dragons) and Disney (FD Grand) you'd be better off saying.. "Hey, look my up in March and give me a discount on my room" It would never happen.. especially at Universal since Universal doesn't operate the hotels. I have tons of great stories working at the front desk from a guy wanting free stuff because he had diarehha, to some guy claiming the boat driver wouldn't let him on the boat even though he cut in front of everyone to do so, to a guy DEMANDING I have the Magic Kingdom shut down because it was "too loud".. seriously, it's just not gonna happen. With all that aside, what the team member did was out of line, but the worst that's going to happen is a slap on the wrist. I even know the MiB supervisor (unless they changed up in the fall) and she would just sit the team member down and council him... which definately should happen. However at Universal they tell you that you dont have to always be having a great drugged induced happy day like at Disney... which is why the team member would just get sat down. Universal has a hard enough time with staffing that they cant get too uptight. -
Alright, lets see here.. First off, Rugged One.. I hate driving in York on Fridays.. LOL. Shari -- Aside from my feeling a little "eh.." about the next few years at Hershey, don't let that sway your plans for a trip there! Hersheypark still remains in my Top 5 parks.. no doubt about it! Especially if this will be your first visit to the park you wont be let down by any means! Hersheypark EASILY has one of the best overall lineup's of coasters... I think that's why Im sort of "eh"... I was expecting more than a cardboard cutout dark ride and quassi waterpark tester in the next few years. I have another question.. personally, Ive never been on a Sally Dark ride... but yeah they do always have a huge line. I think in SFStL we were going to check out Scooby, but the line was crazyyy (and the Boss is an amazing piece of wood). So.. what makes them so great? The animation of the Reese's Cup is what make me feel like its a bland room where you shoot at glorified Mobiles circling around the room. Please tell me the animation doesn't go justice?! Or did I just work at Universal too long and get spoiled by MiB? Also, just one more thought here. Do you guys consider a ride like.. MAXAir to be more thrill or more family? It seems like these days parks can build bigger and still keep the family atmosphere. What about Apollo's Chariot? Eric

I was at the Bears game last night (GO BEARS!!) and during the pause that ensued after an Albany River Rat was slammed into the glass so hard that it shattered.. I was thinking about Hersheypark next door.. In reality I was talking to my friend who happens to work for HERC(O) at one of the hotels and I'm sort of feeling kind of "Blah" about the next couple of years. She has a lot of friends that work at Hersheypark and know things that are going on.. here's what she said. In '07 obviously they are going the route of adding water rides throughout Midway America. She said they are doing this simply as a "test" to see if a waterpark would work.. DUH! Then, in a few years they would be using part of the Fairview golf land to build a real waterpark. Now I know that that info is questionable but for the sake of this post lets just say it is an "experiment".. Im still disillusioned about how crappy the Reese's Cup Challenge looks. I was even at the park looking at a what is going to be a very bland looking building and I could just picture the crappy glorified cardboard cutouts in blacklight lighting.. with guns.. I'd rather just move Garfields Frickin Nightmare out to Hershey! haha. A dark ride is definately something Hershey needs.. but it all seems so uninspired to me. Hersheypark was one of the FEW parks to have a stagnant attendance this year. I doubt families are going to pay much attention to a big Reese's peanut butter cup with a red laser on a billboard this year in '06. Then, in '07 they'll hype up the 100th anniversary by adding a lackluster "temporary" waterpark and a few pools? Is anyone else excited about that? I get the feeling that RECupChallenge will be "ehhh"..probably pretty popular amongst families.. but not teens. And then we'll see the '07 "waterpark" moved to Dutch Wonderland after Hershey decides to build a real one. Which means the 100th anniversary is a huge waste of time! I think there's nothing that could beat a giant flat ride or two.. and a large "icon" coaster (that can be fine for families too.. B&M hypers are very family..) in Hersheypark. Build a waterpark seperate along with an indoor waterpark resort. Eric

Being a video production student I've been staring at this game since like.. 2 years ago when previews started. I havent picked up a copy yet. I've been watching the movies online though and I cant decide. It looks very "preset" in some ways. Especially the voices of the people if they arent dubbed over! AHHH!! Anyways, it looks cool. I'll probably buy it when it comes down in price. But I'll just keep praying that someday they come out with a game that you literally position each limb of someone instead of the preset movements. Eric.. anyone ever play Spiderman Cartoon Maker? haha..

I can't even tell you how many pairs of Spiderman/T3D glasses we would take away from guests on any given day while I worked at Dragons. Half the time they would just be wearing them around on their heads like the thought that they were pretty much stealing never even crossed their minds. Then we'd have lots of fun when we'd take them away and they would never understand why... rarely were they Chinese Eric

Hey there. When RCT3 first came out I got a copy from one of those pay to download sites online. I played around with it for awhile and realized how stupid the peeps were and other problems of the game. The main thing I hated was how you could build a great new coaster and due to some flaw the peeps would rarely get on it, and half the time there would hardly be anyone on ANY ride. So luckily for me, the site I downloaded it from didnt support patches from Atari so I ended up getting a refund and never touching the game again. Now that its getting cold outside Im getting really bored and figured I might go buy the bundle with RCT3 and Soaked. So for all you RCT3'ers out there, did they ever fix the problems the game had when it first came out? Eric

The "Sören´s Way To Disney" Thread
CoasterEricHP replied to Hattuchili's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree, even though it sounds cheesy I did the college program 2 years ago (i was 21) and although it wasnt moving across an ocean, it was still enough that I was a little worried that I'd be 30 hours away from everyone. But it was fine, I made great friends that still work down there and have moved up pretty good in the company in a short time. My friend Carrie (she likes older guys.. haha) started in merchandise in downtown disney and now is the head group reservation person at the Yacht and Beach club (just a short walk away from German Epcot ) and my friend Glenn presented at Innoventions in Epcot and now works for the Disney Design Group. So.. you have to start out somewhere and if you're dedicated and you want to, you'll move up! Anyways, I have some pictures of random stuff on here- http://community.webshots.com/user/coastererichp if you arent too tired of looking at college program things! Just remember that you only live once! Eric -
It almost looks more like the prototype (that looked way more fun than Hypersonic) out in Utah..

I wonder how big the effect of losing the fireworks would be on DTD.. probably very minimal.. I dont have any pity on the Saratoga Springs people if they are disturbed by the nightly fireworks! Anyone who spends all that money and doesnt research at all what hotel suits their tastes best.. deserves to be disturbed!

Yeah you're definately right. It's hard to appeal to the nightclub crowd and keeping it family friendly. They just dont go hand in hand for the most part. From my experience, even CityWalk has problems bringing people in. They should definately try to do something unique with PI aside from restaurants.. but obviously food is where the money is when you have so many locals/tourists, many without cars to eat off property. They really need to add another Hoop-De-Doo quality dinner show. It'd be nice to see them do something with some big time thrill rides or something down there that the teens can do while the parents shop. Maybe have Pay as you go rides.. like a MaxAir type ride and an Impulse Coaster. We all know Disney would go back to "ride tickets" in a heartbeat if they could. Completley off topic.. but wouldn't it be cool if Disney did something with snowboarding/tubing over by Blizzard Beach? Eric

Taking things on rides
CoasterEricHP replied to calcajun's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah.. we have to be really annoying at Universal about bags/cups/cameras/purses.. anything really. At least at Dragons we had to be really strict because the dueling aspect and having a seperate load/unload area. There's really no other way to do it other than the free lockers. We cant have guests (which let's face it.. some are extremely stupid) running down to the unload area and stepping on the platform, tripping, and getting smashed by a 14 ton train. I guess the reason the Hulk doesnt have a drop off is because they dont guests to think that's the norm at the parks. Eric -

On the College Program (who apparently fund most of PI.. haha) we used to go all the time. I dont like clubs.. but the Comedy Club and the Adventurer's Club are definately worth checking out. Especially if you like Whose Line Is It Anyways?.. since these guys are better! IMO.. The Adventurer's club is fun to just go and hang out and be messed with by the actors. anyone recognize the guy in the middle?
