Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
LcHg5265 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
While rain does not effect magnets, they can not totally stop a coaster train. In theory, the trains can still hit if there was no friction between the powered tires and the train. -
Walibi Holland Discussion Thread

In a sense yes, but i feel there will be a lot less "neck chopping" action with these. The vest goes to a custom length for each individual rider so that it is snug against the chest, unlike the intamin ones which hover around most peoples necks. -
Six Flags vs. Cedar Fair
LcHg5265 replied to RIP Psyclone's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am not deciding "which one is better," but i can not help but make a comment about the staffing. If you think the employees at the Cedar fair parks were "bored and slow" then i don't know what you thought of the employees at Six Flags. Out of all the parks i have been too, CF,SF, or any other park, Six Flags has always had the slowest and worst employees. The only exception to that was SFGADV, but they still failed in comparison to the CF parks. (Parks under both chains visited this season) SF parks: SFNE, SFGADV, SFKK, LaRonde, CF parks: CP, GL, KI, DP, -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

Since Kentucky Kingdom is Holiday Worlds biggest competition, I can easily see Holiday World adding a proslide rocket. When your in Kentucky Kingdom, you can see Holiday World advertisements from in the park. Seeing as how they take that approach in advertising I can see them getting a bigger, longer, and faster proslide rocket. -

I like the look of Boomerangs without the evac stairs / platform in the cobra roll much better. It makes the element look much larger. (IMO) -
2007 Golden Tickets Announced
LcHg5265 replied to CoasterFanatic's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is a problem with all S&S Screamin' Swings. I think its to the point that the ride can not actually have a longer cycle. The 32 person model's longest cycle is four swings at full height. While i have not seen any other 40 person models besides CP actually operate, I would assume that it can only reach two. (as it does currently) -
Ride At Valleyfair Closed After Fire

It seems that the link has since been updated. Good news that it wasn't ride components and that it will be open again soon. -

I'm not doubting that the crew was fast, but I can tell you those timed wait signs are horrible estimates. They are far off at the six flags parks I have been to this year. (KK,SFNE,SFGA). The times are overinflated and just another way to sell the flash pass. -

Kingda Ka has horrible operations, is very rough, and has OTSR. TTD has amazing operations, is very smooth, and only a lapbar. This is my opinion as if each ride were a stand alone attraction seperate from any park. -
The pre-drop on Kraken is a perfect example of the "tension" they build. Going over the top onto the pre-drop and looking to your right really builds it up.

Best maker of wooden roller coasters?
LcHg5265 replied to RIP Psyclone's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A roller coaster not having a handicap ramp and cheap steps is not GG's problem, but would be something Mt. Olympus would have decided on. The same goes for one or two trains. If Mt. Olympus wanted two trains, they could have gotten them, but they opted for only one. -
Looking for tech. coaster info

Here is an interesting read on how Top Thrill Dragsters restraints and launch work. I am assuming the restraint system is very similar to other hydraulic restraints. http://www.pointbuzz.com/ttdtech.htm -

I rode it this week and it did. You could see the brakes close and open. When did you last ride it? If it didn't do it then, i can tell you it is doing it now. -

The brakes where on in the block section two out of three times we rode. You can hear and feel them holding the back of the train as you enter the next drop. The only time it was off was when the computer faulted, and that made for a great ride. There was no block brake violation because there were two trains and you could see the other train pull into the station before you went over the lift hill. From what i saw, they now use the block to slow down the ride. -
SFNE Rant and Review
LcHg5265 replied to sfne2005's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The single ride line is not what you may think. It only starts once you get up into the station and doesn't shorten your wait all that much. -
Spare Parts - Where do they get them...
LcHg5265 replied to bgwfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I believe S&S offers arrow replacement parts. I can also see Vekoma selling parts for arrow trains as they are very similar in their designs.
