Aero World aviation theme park
stricklandCC replied to Meyers's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Welcome! This sounds interesting. Snoopy and Lego? Instead of playing the 20,000 questions game, post the interesting, or most pertinent images or information that you have. No offense, I feel like saying: "So I know some stuff, if you have any questions" You eluded to some of the attractions this park may have had, I am curious about it!, -
As much as CF may have maintained the cleanliness of the park, I say scrap it. I grew up with Great America as my "home" park, I maintained my season pass for 3 or 4 consecutive years(1990-1994), until I moved away. After re-visiting, just recently (2009 Halloween haunt), I couldn't tell much of a difference: A few missing rides/coasters, and a lame excuse for a water park (Raging Waters in San Jose has more to offer). Its landlocked, the neighbors suck, and the 49er's situation isn't going to allow anything to happen. Even now, after moving back to the area, and Great America being only 15 minutes away, I don't even bother. My point: after 17 years(SEVENTEEN!!), very little has changed, and very little probably will. Look at other amusement parks, (CF or non), in 17 years there is typically a DRASTIC amount of change. Instead of longing for what could be I say we all give up on this park. Even with another major coaster or ride, I feel it's too little to late. CF is following in Paramounts footsteps, and are obviously unwilling to do what it takes to keep this park fresh and new. Put all of our wants, dreams and desires to waster, pave this fu(!

I will Definitely be attending this year as well, 4 years in a row!!! I will be without a vehicle so will probably end up taking a greyhound bus/train, unless any Nor-Cal peeps will be leaving from, or traveling through San Jose! I will probably be looking to split a room with someone as well. Send me a PM if anyone feels like helping out!

Videos About Coasters.
stricklandCC replied to Movieguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm surprised nobody as mentioned the Nova special featuring Drachen Fire, it was the first video I had seen specifically related to coasters. It had to be around '92, because Drachen Fire was the new deal, and Ron Toomer was still playing with coat hangers! -
Ferrari World Discussion Thread
stricklandCC replied to Captain Jack's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Tough comparison. DisneyQuest is pretty much crap. I've been there twice (once under the influence of unmentioned hallucinogenics), and never need to go back for the rest of my life. House of Blues draws far bigger crowds than DisneyQuest in that area. I would expect for Ferrari World to pull more guests than a night club. I think of it as a Dave and Busters...the bar (main attraction), gets the lines. The video games do not. IE: I think the coasters will draw just enough guests to keep the smaller attraction's lines minimal. I've never been to Abu Dhabi either. -

Best Beastie Boys plug EVAR! sorry got a little too excited over that, I'm just a mild fan of my 3 MC's Great trip report, I need a beer. -
^ LoL... ^ That sounds more like a joke or a sarcastic response to me, just saying. I could hear some bitter fan-boy saying something like that just because he's pissed his home park isn't receiving a new attraction. I don't know if SFGam is or isn't getting anything new, I just took that comment as more of a joke; an almost funny one too!

In all honestly though, it doesn't seem like you missed much, that coaster looks horrible! Short, un-inventive and a lame lay-out to boot! I rather have some of those "elusive" kiddie credits than worry about riding that POS. Although it seems if you add a dog and a fart to the theming it becomes much better! -
^ Try riding it with a real hangover... the type of hangover that nearly swears you away from alcohol forever! (obviously not REALLY forever). Its the type of feeling that all the Tylenol\Advil\ Excedrin in the world & even more booze can't overcome! Anyways, fun coaster, fun trip report...gonna have to do it [the Coaster at NYNY] sober next time though! Funny story: My friend just did the Sky Jump at Stratosphere last weekend and she told me it was a complete free-fall! (till the end of course). Interesting to know that it isn't.

TPR's Middle America and IntimidaTOUR 2010 Trips!
stricklandCC replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
^^^ ^^ 'nough said. It does look like good time though. I pretty much lost my virginity in a three-some with Orient Express, Zambezi Zinger and Timber Wolf, they year she opened. Haven't been back since. Neat park though, good memories and great pictures! thanks! -
^ As for interesting, there is Tatsu, arguably one of the best flyers out there, and Viper, nearly the end of its breed. Not to mention X2 and the many other iconic coasters there. See: http://www.rcdb.com/4532.htm. I thought the Superman revamp was "interesting" considering the options. As far as special events, you could always check their events page at:www.sixflags.com/magicMountain/events/CalendarEvents.aspx

Good luck with that bud. Not to be mean, however: 1) Obviously there would be no way to ergonomically design everything for every body-type. EX: cars, airplane seats, even keyboards and buttons on devices,etc... are all modeled after an "average user". 2) Obesity is a serious epidemic, especially in children. There is no reason to reward people for something so crucially life-threatening. If you question the fact that you are obese, I remind you, you can't fit in seats that the majority of people can. I for one, am on the small side, I'm not tall enough to drive a 1-ton truck safely, I get tossed around on roller coasters because I don't fit tightly, and can't palm a basketball, let-alone slam dunk. Do these factors merit a law-suit as well? Take notice to the gentleman who couldn't fit on Harry Potter's Forbidden Journey, He took it as motivation to LOSE WEIGHT. In addition, this was you're only post, no need to take you seriously anyways.

I didn't think I was going to chime in on this backwards debate. However, at WCB when the question "CAN Superman run Backwards?" was asked , Tim specifically replied, in a seemingly tight-lipped manner: YES. So there we have it, the logistics and engineering are confirmed, and the debate can now progress into whether they WILL run Superman backwards, not if they CAN. Although, if you were at the Q&A at WCB that day, reading between the lines wasn't difficult.

WOW! all of this sounds fantastic!I have no doubt this will be a great addition. Question: I'll be returning to the Orlando area to visit parents and such, and was counting on their Florida residents discounts, what are the stipulations? I would imagine Florida I.D. would be required for purchase, but will I have to show proof of residency upon entering the gate? This question also applies to Sea World, Universal parks and Universal hotels.

So I understand that hotel guests get into Harry Potter World an hour early. My question is will those privileges be awarded the day you check out of the hotel? EX: checking into Royal Pacific, on Wednesday, checking out Thursday and going to the parks. Will this work? -
Your Own Inversions!
stricklandCC replied to braztaz's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Actually, the inversion you're referring to is an immelmann, entering a half-loop and then rolling out of it..as it does on Fire dragon. I think I imagine it the same way he does...think: entering the immelmann on Fire from the opposite direction. Better yet, take CGA's Top Deck Flight Gun's first turn after the loop; but continue the banking to end with a diving-loop. I only iterate this because, I also have thought of the same element. ...all photos sourced from: http://www.rcdb.com photo courtesy of: http://alantaff.co.uk/ photo courtesy of: http://www.fratkin.com/
