  1. ^^WOW, read through ALL of it, what a stretch! Permanent residences?? Its funny that they know the "theme park(s)" are the final phase of their "scalability". Personally, I NEVER see ANY of this coming to fruition.
  2. I would thoroughly enjoy to ride a Batman backwards one day, It will be interesting to see where this new chassis goes after SFGAm. I also remember the PR lady talking briefly, about the conversion back to forwards, where she mentioned there is another surprise to be had, something along the lines of "...it will be almost exciting as the backwards transformation". I believe they sent off the original chassis for this change, and B&M supplied the backwards chassis in the interim, any guesses or ideas?
  3. Just out of curiosity, what were the wait times everyone was experiencing at last weeks events?
  4. ^&^^ You both have very solid points, and this is exactly what I intended this thread to discuss. Thank You. I also don't mean to focus on Arrow designs only. I have experienced numerous rides where the lines don't exactly match up, if you know what I mean. The second half of Medusa's (west) sea-serpent is not mirrored like that of a traditional cobra roll. Flight Deck (Top Gun@CGA) has a weird transition out of the corkscrew, and into the final helix... both B&M's, years apart. I haven't ridden many Intamin coasters, but I'd imagine they have their oddities too.
  5. Perhaps lazy was the wrong word choice for the thread. I was trying to convey aspects of certain rides where the engineering may have "under-thought" it. I guess it would be more of a complacent issue, whereas what worked, worked without much further thought on how to improve it involved. The awkward transitions mentioned above kind of demonstrate that. Also, I was referring to designs where "over redundancy" was involved; unnecessary lift hills, etc. that lead me to believe initial design numbers could not accurately determine the trains momentum during the course. It seems to me they under-estimated the margin of error and erred on the side of caution.
  6. ^^ WOW, that looks more awkward than most of their corkscrew entrances, it's always intrigued me why they continued to use that design; the exits to the corkscrews aren't weird, why not mirror the transitions? ^p.s. nice avatar, the one that started it all for me
  7. We've all ridden coasters with an awkward transition or weird banking right? My question is (and I tried search, please merge if necessary moderators), what are some designs that don't make sense to you? EX:After watching a POV of Loch Ness Monster, I think the second lift could've have been obsolete provided the train didn't lose momentum in the redundant triple(?) helix. However, I have never ridden, so I don't know first hand, and it seems a few Arrow Mine Trains suffer from the same issue (beyond block segmentation). Another thought, Lightwater Valley's "Ultimate": a short chain after the second lift to transport to the drop..followed by trims. What happened with the momentum calculations? Was it really that much of a crap shoot? Besides the obvious YOLOcoaster lack of achievement award, can any one else add to the list of engineering oddities?
  8. ^ I completely agree. Any park can set out their own rules and regulations, but I also believe that most parks are not willing to accept the loss of business and revenue by choosing to eradicate smokers. Out of curiosity, are there any completely "non-smoking" parks out there? Don't want to derail the thread, that comment just sounded a little too biased for me. Now back to the conversation, these stories are fun to hear about!
  9. Really? You think smoking areas are a privilege? You think the park is "going above and beyond" to observe and respect smokers rights? I don't need your sympathy either. I understand that my habit is not preferable to many, however smokers have rights, and cigarettes are not illegal. If the park did not have smoking areas, and provided the park/state doesn't have rules/laws about smoking in public; we smokers could and would smoke wherever we wanted. I consider my self a "respectful" smoker and have no problems observing the parks rules by using their designated smoking areas, but your statement is just asinine. You should appreciate the fact that many smokers accept these stipulations, and most do make good use of them.
  10. I'll be going to the park/haunt all day sunday, really looking forward to it! Another question tho, are there any TV's in a restaurant or what not that will have the 49ers game on?
  11. ^ I agree! I liked it a lot, pretty epic. The Dub Step wasn't too bad, great editing, great job of tapping into their target audience. Win!
  12. I had heard somewhere that purchasing a 2013 gold pass now, admits me into the park/haunt this year, is that correct?
  13. Anyone in the south bay area goin to WCB? I would like to go again this year but am without transportation. If anyone would like to share space in their car, I am more than willing to pitch in on gas and/or hotel room. Any takers? PM me!
  14. Anyone in the area going to WCB? I would like to go this year but am without transportation. If anyone wants an extra person in their car, I am more than willing to pitch in on gas and/or hotel room...any takers? PM mel
  15. Anyone in the area going to WCB? I would really like to go this year but am without transportation. If anyone would like an extra person in their car, I am more than willing to pitch in on gas and/or hotel room! Any takers? PM me.
  16. Is anyone from the south bay area looking for an extra person in their car? I really want to go this year, but dont have transportation. I'm totally willing to pitch in on gas and even hotel if possible. Any takers?? PM me.
  17. This coaster looks great!. I've been following the progress the entire time and seems to be a great fit/attraction for the park. The only thing I've never seen mentioned however, is the lack of heart-lining/ banking going into the turn after the MCBR. I understand these current tests are not at full speed, but that being said, I don't think it will be able to carry much speed off of the MCBR; into the waterfall area/the trench S-turns, and not to mention the long straight-away before all that jazz...hmm. Not complaining, only curious. I've tried to dig up pictures to illustrate what I'm trying to say, but can't seem to find em' at the moment. I've seen in pictures posted showing I305's turn into the station off of the final brake run being heart-lined and banked more than the turn after Cheetah Hunt's MCBR, just can't seem to find said pictures. I'm also curious about the listing of "overbanked" turns, as I'm not aware of any in the lay-out...any insight into either of these observations?
  18. Tangelo isn't the best of neighborhoods. With all the police sirens and gunshots occurring in Tangelo, Im not sure which would be louder the roller coasters or the thug life?
  19. I saved the image, and there is a picture of Cheetah Hunt's "themeing support to nowhere" titled: "huh.jpg." included in the gif, plus if you look at "properties" it says its a slide of 2 frames. I have no idea however what any of that means. edit: or maybe its just in the same folder...lol
  20. ^, ^^ Before I joined TPR, I had just moved to the bay area in August of 2005 and drove around Great America for 45 minutes trying to catch a peek at Stealth. Actually, I thinks thats how i found TPR originally! I do miss Green Vortex as well, looked way better than it does now.
  21. ^Perfect, thank you. I (for some dumb-a$$ reason) thought you could only get 1 FP at a time. I also didn't know that FP's don't actually expire.
  22. ^, ^^, Thank you, and Thank you. I guess my next question would be how to work the Flash Pass system to its entirety between both parks. I've think I've heard others talk about a strategy behind it. I'm pretty sure I understand how the FP system works, but what is the best way to fully utilize and capitalize on the Flash Passes?
  23. Cars Land is going to look great when finished! I have a good friend taking his kids there this weekend (11 yr old son, 6 yr old daughter), and had no idea California's Adventure was under such heavy construction. I was curious what attractions are currently operating (or not operating) that would appeal to both kids, or is it not worth their time? Also, what will the crowds be like? Thanks for the picture updates! Hopefully it will be enough to improve the park as much as Disney wanted.
