Expedition Everest Yeti Dead?
ginzo replied to the ghost's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
OMG! The Yeti is sinking! After more thought, this kind of reminds me of the thread about Disney removing the loop from California Screamin'. It only makes sense that if Disney "hates" loops, they probably also hate Yeti. -

Well, you CAN still get drunk on Sheikra. It's just now going to cost you as much for one beer as you can get a six pack of decent-tasting beer for. -
Terry had an adult website? Who would have thought.

I don't mean to demean you in any way, but from the look of those screen shots you need SERIOUS help in the graphic design department. Maybe you could find some freeware stock designs that you could use to get your site going. What you have now looks 12 years out of date.

Yeah, lame. Are they going to lower the ticket prices now since they've taken away a significant attraction? -

Nah, it's in Northern Kentucky, right by the Cincinnati airport. I keep meaning to go and post a TR, but I'm waiting until I can gather a large group of friends for the project. -

And a really solid looper at that. I never made it out to HRP, but I wouldn't be surprised if I liked TN Tornado more than LZ. At least TT has some nice forces to it, particularly in the "magic" second-to-last row. -

That's basically it. Only Intamin sells them, but not every woodie made by Intamin has been a plug 'n play. http://www.intaminworldwide.com/iag/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=36&Itemid=32 Other differences include the use of laminate instead of regular wood and polyurethane wheels instead of the metal wheels woodies normally use. -

Colossos ran pretty well last summer. It did have a bit of vibration at the bottoms of the hills, particularly in the wheel seats. But it wasn't anything severe and could even be considered desirable by some as wooden coaster "character". No idea about the maintenance. -
^Or Alabama. Hi, Tyler.

Note that they've been steadily and smartly adding stuff to the park as their attendance grew. Voyage took them to over a million guests for the first time. But, to me, the park is a victim of it's own success in that on a busy day they don't seem to have the capacity to really push the guests through some of the attractions in a reasonable amount of time. I've waited over an hour for water slides countless times there. Also, the non-water park section still seems a bit thin for such a highly-acclaimed park. The last thing they need is to be that smaller park with huge lines and not much to do. So, yeah, I still think they need a world class steelie, badly. Oh yeah, and they're also charging big park prices now on admission. So why not some big park rides? -
^Someone should pitch that idea to Kinzel. They wouldn't have to buy any rides for at least 10 years since they could just shift the former KI assets around ala Geauga Lake.

I really don't think it's going to happen. If they wanted an ejector airtime machine, they would have gone with Intamin. Behemoth doesn't have any ejector air. So, I wouldn't expect Diamondback to radically depart from what B&M has done in the past for CF. From a park owner's perspective, B&M Mega Coasters probably make more sense. Better capacity, flawless safety record, better restraints, and excellent reliability. Here's to hoping that Holiday World loves Pilgrim's Plunge and continues their relationship with Intamin in the form of a Mega Lite. Seems like a great steel coaster is desperately needed there to round out their park. -

I really wish this thing would have a lot of negative-g forces. But I'd imagine it's going to be the same old 0 g floater air that B&M is known for. -

So it was horrible when SFGAdv tore out Viper even though they got El Toro in its place? -
I can only speak for myself, but my rankings are not static. I force myself to create an entirely new ballot each year. My rankings change a lot as I ride new stuff. I also change them based on re-rides. For example, Voyage was my #2 in the woodie poll in 2006, but this year it was ranked in my #20 group because I think that coaster is getting rougher than I like. Montu was my #1 steel in 2006 and #2 in 2007. But I wasn't as impressed with Montu this year. So, I dropped it to my #15 grouping. Right now my #1 steel and overall is Expedition GeForce. The rides we got on that this summer were spectacular. Some of the best rides I've ever had. And I'm probably going to get out to Holiday Park to ride it again next summer before the Scandi trip. If EGF doesn't perform as well next year, I'll drop it down a bit if I wind up liking something like Piraten more. In a sense, I think it's good that the poll takes some effort to participate in. People just might be forced to slow down and think about things instead of just mindlessly clicking away.

It's true dude. Didn't you hear about the accident on Fujin Raijin II at Expoland? Well, the Japanese changed the maintenance laws on coasters after that. Except the situation is even worse than Robb describes. The coasters are only open about 6 days every two years. It is true that they have to tear the coasters down and rebuild them after every 6 days of operation, but what Robb neglected to mention is the strict union rules involved in roller coaster construction in Japan. They have to give a minimum of 3 months off for every 2 weeks that they work. So, it takes about two years to fully tear down and rebuild that coaster for those 6 days of operation. Also, you're really only going to get about 1 day open to the public, if you're lucky, because they usually rent the coasters out to clubs for about 5 days straight. Even then, they're only allowed to run those coasters for about an hour per day. And to do that, they have to install new trains and test them for each day of operation.
