  1. But SOB isn't some obscure credit in Asia. It's a widely-ridden ride at a widely-visited park. Apart from a few random poll-sabotaging 40-year-old virgin losers, it earned its "bottom 10" status fair and square.
  2. Actually, from what I see here, this is worrisome. If the train had a similar failure out past the lift hill, I imagine this could have been far worse. Did they bust an axle or something?
  3. Oh my God! The Intamin cable strikes again! This *can't* be a coincidence.
  4. They boo FlashPass users? What a crappy park.
  5. There was a three alarm fire in one of the ghettos of Cincinnati last night. Unfortunately, it did not spread 26 miles north to Son of Beast. Maybe next time!
  6. ^Eh, the point is that the dangers of trans fats are well known. NYC famously banned trans fats in restaurants. Few things have attracted as much press attention recently as trans fats have. Most people are aware that fast food is not healthy. But if we all listened to our doctors, we'd probably have a lot of unemployed docs unable to pay off their crippling medical school debt. So, eat up!
  7. This just in: Japan has bombed Pearl Harbor.
  8. I'm no economist, but this sounds suspiciously like an example of the sunk cost fallacy. Basically, they want to throw good money after wasted money because they think that SOB has high value because they paid a lot for it. The money could probably be better used in building a new ride, but they'd rather continue to polish the turd.
  9. ^Well, it is California. Government does *lots* of dumb stuff there. I think you're dead on-point regarding the clear posting of nutritional information. When I went to NYC last year and had Nathan's at Coney Island, I noticed my ordering behavior change based on the calorie count of each item was staring me in the face. But the decision was still on ME, not some lame politician or bureaucrat.
  10. ^Eh, it's not going to be all that different than it has been for the last few years. KI's customers are already accustomed to SOB being idle. It'll come down, but maybe not right away. Demolition as well as disposal of all that pressure treated lumber will not be cheap. I'll certainly understand if they don't have the budget for that this year.
  11. ^I still have high expectations for the ride. I base this on listening to some podcasts from Knoebels where they discussed how the modern bobsled rides were "only a fraction as fun" as the old Flying Turns rides. I believe Dick himself had ridden one of the old Flying Turns rides. I'll take their word for it for now. And if it just turns out to be only as good as a steel bobsled coaster, I do not care. I'd rather spend the day at Knoebels than just about any other park in the world.
  12. Wrong. You were talking about Sam Cassell.
  13. ^Marion Barry didn't need Six Flags to have fun in DC.
  14. I think I could taste the difference between Big Mac sauce and ketchup. Heck, I think that sauce is the most recognizable flavor in the Big Mac. The mystery meat certainly doesn't stand out in flavor.
  15. I think of Adelaide as the place where the greatest Australian David Thorne lives.
  16. ^Do the apps actually crash on you? Or do they just lag? My experience with Win7 is that the apps might lag here and there, but they don't crash that much. I've never had the OS outright crash on me, but I have seen it happen to other people. I wouldn't go to Mac now. Mainly because I greatly prefer the Win7 GUI over Mac. That and Mac is really expensive for the hardware you get. My gripe about Win7 is all the !#@!#!@ updates. WTF is with all the updates? It's installing like 3-10 per day on me.
  17. I think the park should promote this as an example of how good HHN is. 15 grand is nothing. It's the old "cheaper than court" pay out.
  18. ^^It would be interesting to see a breakdown of EE project costs. I wonder if the ride system wasn't really that expensive compared to what they spent on theming and "research".
