  1. Wow, you did an INCREDIBLE job getting some great photos that you normally dont ever see. I was hoping that the new wheelcovers were permanent I wasnt a big fan of the themed decals it had before, and I kinda liked the new ones. Oh well. Nice picks of all of the coasters. I'll definitely be sharing this TR with a few friends, awesome photos. I was supposed to go today but my trip go POSTPWNED
  2. To be honest, the "It's a small world" song doesnt really bother me that much. It's just the fact that the ride is so long, slow, and boring that I dont like it. I LOVE Dinosaur, and I LOVE Primeval Whirl. I also really miss Journey into Your Imagination. Figment is just annoying, I liked the second version better. I think Sounds Dangerous Starring Drew Carey is fun. I'm a fan of Binaural audio, and its a fun attaction, for me at least. This is hard to choose a least favorite ride, but I guess I'll go with Small World. I mean, seriously, I actually enjoy the song to a certain extent, it makes me feel like I'm at the park. But its just the fact that the ride is the slowest, most unexciting ride ever, with no story, no thrill, and no humor that bothers me.
  3. Excuse me? Penguins own hippos. Okay, so I am totally jealous, I SO want a TPR bag of crap. Is this because you bought a bunch of DVDs or something?
  4. The first time I rode one of those, I got on thinking it was a scrambler. Luckily I liked it. If I had seen it in action beforehand, I probably wouldnt have gone on it (I was a big chicken back then). Wait... don't you mean that the other way around?
  5. The animation was awesome, but robb doesnt say whoa, he says "WEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
  6. That's interesting... when I was a child, I hated most scary rides, but loved height requirements, because if I wasnt tall enough, I knew my parents wouldn't be able to force me on it.
  7. My dad was one of the first people to ever ride the Slingshot in Orlando. It was called Ricky's Rocket back then, and I'm not sure why, but they offered him a free ride and he took it. I thought he was crazy back then. Now I wish I could have that chance.
  8. I got stuck and evacuated off of Disneyland's Splash Mountain once, but you should try and search before you post a topic. I know there are quite a few threads here already that are very similar to this one. Here is one that is quite popular: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=415
  9. If you would like, you can read my trip report from last month, when I went to Boomers, first. http://coasterradio.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=975 I just went back to Boomers on Tuesday. My school likes hosting events here. You get a free bus ride from the school to the event, and you dont have to pay tax on the tickets or wristbands. This will be a rather short trip report, the main reason I am posting it is to share the pictures and the video. Well, starting off with the bad news. Dania Beach Hurricane was closed for maintenance, and I was disappointed when I first heard the news, but I didn't really miss it that much after all. It seems like everyone talks about how it's such an awesome wooden coaster, and even after riding it over 20 times I still don't see how it's THAT great. Sure, it's a ton of fun, but maybe all of the other wooden coasters just arent as good, and people are shocked to actually find a decent one. Who knows... (Let's hope nobody takes that statement TOO seriously..) Anyway, the highlight of the trip was definitely my 3 rides on the Blender (A 160 ft, 60 mph spinning skyscraper ride). This is now my absolute favorite ride. Better than any coaster by far. I filmed an offride video and an onride POV for Youtube. Here they are: Onride POV: Offride Video: The onride POV is only half of the ride. I took my camera out while I was at the top, waiting for the other side to load. You only hear me in the video twice. The first time, I'm telling the person I'm riding with to put their head back, since she was scared. And the second time you hear me is on the final rotation, when I go over the top without flipping, and I make a very.... "weird" sound, out of surprise when the seat swung forward. I took a few pictures from the top also. These are pretty neat. (I dont want to resize these photos, I want you to be able to enjoy them full size, so I will just post them as links.) http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/8159/nighthf3.jpg http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/7024/lookingdown1nq6.jpg http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/8651/lookingdown2eh1.jpg http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/844/lookingdown3ex5.jpg http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/6901/lookingdown4jt3.jpg This is not a ride for those who are afraid of heights! Surprisingly, my favorite ride of the three times was the only time I rode by myself. My reason for this is because not only was it my first ride of the day, but it was also the only ride I had on it during daylight. The Blender is MUCH better during the day, you can see how high you are, and it's much more exaggerated. But more importantly, I noticed that since the seats were much lighter, I spun VERY FAST! The thing I like about this Skyscraper ride, is that it is included when you buy a wristband. At most parks, these are upcharge rides. While you can pay $9 to ride it once, if you pay $25 you can ride it as much as you want all day, as well as play all of the video games, ride the kiddie rides, play laser tag, and drive the racing go karts. It was very fun! I'm quite lucky to live only 15 minutes away from this place. I don't think it will be long before I start reffering to it as my "home park"...
  10. This is very possible, I hope it is built some day. Just imagine those hula hoops with the marble in them. It's very possible. The only problem I think would be the forces the ride creates, you would need some really stong supports to keep it from shaking all over the place and wearing down after a while. At least it seems so.
  11. When you ride WDW Space Mountain, you always get the person who has been on the ride a few times, and insists that a certain side "goes faster" or has a "bigger drop". In reality, they are mirror images and there is no difference in speed or scale. Also, I always hear the infamous story of the girl who stood up on Space Mountain and got her head cut off. I always doubt those stories, since if it happened, I'm sure I would know about it, but I have heard it so many times from so many different people, I'm starting to believe it...
  12. I hope to go Skydiving for my 18th Birthday (the minimum age). I will probably do tandem, but it would be awesome to do accelerated freefall on my first time (jump with two other instructors and not tandem). The thought scares me too. I still wanna do it some day. Check out YouTube. There are a ton of awesome skydiving videos there
  13. Yeah, I didnt mean to say rough, I just mean bumpy. It's a fun kind of bumpy, not so bumpy it would ruin your day.
  14. I like the sheikra commercial, with the guy flying through the air, and then he gets thrown headfirst towards the ground and wakes up. If anyone has a link to this commercial in a site like YouTube or Google video, please post it.
  15. http://www.coasterfamily.com recorded this ride with the lights on also. I've had it on the front page of my site (with their permission) for several months now. I'm surprised that people are just now finding out that this exists. It's really neat to see it with the lights on, I never realized how bumpy it was until I saw the video. It's so nice to finally see my first roller coaster with the lights on. On the main Walt Disney World page of http://www.disneymountainrides.com , you can find a full video of the other side of Space Mountain with the lights on (Alpha). The video you posted was Omega (I prefer Omega, even thought they are mirror images). Thanks again to Kevin from www.coasterfamily.com for letting me link to his video.
  16. I would also say BGT. An incredible collection of B&M coasters. SHeikra and Montu, my top two favorite roller coasters, as well as Kumba.
  17. Sheikra, Montu, and Kraken. These three coasters come up a lot. Sheikra has a great view at the top (it feels like the entire structure is going to blow over, but thats because I'm still not used to heights, but I'm beginning to like them). Kraken has an awesome view over the lake. And Montu is cool because it seems so much higher than it is because you can see the cars.
  18. Of what I have been on (all of the major coasters in Florida, and a few others), Of course Sheikra comes in first, followed by Kraken. I'm not a huge fan of the curved drops, but Montu does it well so that makes my list: Sheikra Kraken Montu Also, Jurassic Park River Adventure has a really scary drop. Scarier than any flume ride I've ever been on, that's for sure. But that's not a coaster.
  19. I'm guessing it either "falls" down into the pedestal, or the wall turns around very fast when you can't see. I can't imagine it being that complex. Do these elevators shake like the ones in DCA?
  20. I was actually thinking if this would be possible. I don't think it can be very big though. I think the biggest problem would be the money, though.
  21. Well we all have our own opinions, and I agree that the "choose your ending" was kind of cheesy to begin with, but I think it was very well done. Extra footage was shot suring production to make this possible, and everything flows. All of the options you can choose usually emmediately do something, and then sometimes trigger minor changes later within the story. For example (SPOILER): One person may be about to die, and you are asked if another character should attempt to save them. Or, you may be asked if something else should be changed, and the character, may just end up dying a different way instead. Yes, there are two ways that the movie can end earlier (I think). In the first one, everyone really DOES die on the coaster, but thats stupid, so when he flips the coin, ignore it. But in the second one, you have the chance to see a completely different ending, simply decided on by how one of the last people dies (I won't spoil this for you). (END SPOILER) So, if you liked the movie, I would say buy the dvd, because I think this is one of the best done DVDs ever. Not to mention, there is a full commentary on the first disc, and well as TONS of special featurettes on the second disc, and a full feature length behind the scenes special. And there is tons of footage of the coaster. There is a special on filming on the ride itself on the second disc.
  22. I'm afraid that once I ride a lot more coasters, I will start to like some of original favorites less... and that would be bad.... I dont want my favorite coaster to be in a different state. I have been on 31 coasters, and I still get tons of wonderful sensations of airtime on rides many hardcore enthusiasts no longer feel. Has anyone been able to notice that feeling of airtime or any other sensation go away after riding? I think that is also improtant when deciding a top ten. Oh, and my top ten changed again: 1) Sheikra (The undisputable #1 coaster in Florida. For me at least. Scariest drop ever and I LOVE inversions with very little force.) 2) Montu (Once again, the less force, the better) 3) Kraken (awesome 1st drop and zero G roll) 4) Dueling Dragons Fire (immelmans!!) 5) Dueling Dragons Ice (turnaround and zero G roll rock!) 6) Rock 'n' Roller Coaster (my first coaster with inversions.. I like how much hangtime this ride has) 7) Kumba (the best vertical loop EVER!) 8) The Incredible Hulk Coaster (my least favorite B&M coaster in FL by far, but has a fun launch and zero G roll, too bad the best parts of the ride are over in the first 5 seconds... ) 9) Revenge of the Mummy (YAY airtime!) 10) Dania Beach Hurricane (The only good woodie I've ever been on)
  23. LOL! It's all outside looping at the bottom! Thats funny! That spike looke TERRIFYING! If the train was going the right speed, there is nothing to worry about flying off the end. It would look like you would, and your brain would be all messed up since your'e upside down though.
  24. My first ride on Kraken. I went on my first coaster with inversions (Rock 'n' Roller Coaster) only one month before. I wasn't afraid of the launch, just the inversions. As soon as I got off the ride and realized that I just did an upside down ride, I immediately told mysel I could do ANY ride! So I went on Kraken. I didn't hesitate to go on the ride, but going up the lift hill I nearly crapped myself. And a zero G roll on a floorless, for the first time ever, was quite intense not expecting what it would be like. I already had the layout of the coaster memorized long before I ever got on it. I remember counting the inversions in my head the first time I rode it. I got off the ride, completely amazed by the strong G forces, and my cheeks were tingly (kinda like when your foot falls asleep.)
  25. The GravityWorks Skyscraper. It was my first major flat ride (I rode it about a week ago). It's so huge, and when you go over the top, I like how you don't flip at the very top. You face the ground a little bit, getting some serious air, and then flip over as you are crossing towards the other side.
