Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread
ArizonaGuy replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ I never said it was ok. I was just pointing out that it happens at other park chains all the time, but it seems like Six Flags is the only one that gets crap for it. In most cases, Six Flags keeps it vague (Coming Spring 2013)for the most part so I don't see why people are even complaining about this. -
Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

^^ I agree. Usually Six Flags keeps their ride opening dates very vague like "Opening Spring 2013" and never give exact dates. I don't see what the big deal is anyways. It's just a Boomerang, they don't take that long to set up. And yes, I agree other parks do it too so Six Flags isn't the only guilty party. -
Lol. I guess according to your picture of the first drop they're gonna have to move Goliath too. Oh yeh and according to some other pics previously posted, Gully Washer has been removed. Oh yeh, several trees in the video are out of place too so I guess they're going to be moved around too. so yes, you've made your point perfectly clear. So what part of the ride isn't changing??? Most, if not every element of this coaster is being changed. I guess we'll just have to wait for them to take down the rest of that helix they're planning not to use.
-
^^ And of course you can see lift hill track going up in the first pic as well. They may have only removed half the lower helix since it's probably not going to follow the exact same footprint as the previous version headed out of the tunnel. I wouldn't say they're redoing the helix with all new wood considering they've only removed about 1/2 and the part over RRE is still intact. If they didn't intend to use that, I'm assuming they would have already demolished the rest of the helix before beginning the retrack of the lift hill. I dunno....I guess we're just gonna have to see. The picture below is what I thought was being worked on based on pictures being posted and info I've heard based on visits into the park by friends. I'm not saying my mock up is 100%, but it's just what I believe is being worked on.

Most Notable Accident
ArizonaGuy replied to dropthefloor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'd say most notable accident for Six Flags over Texas was 03/22/1999 when 28yr old lady drowned in the Roaring Rapids when the raft she was in capsized and she was unable to release herself from the seatbelt. The raft capsizing was said to have been caused by an under inflated raft which caused the raft and the seating unit in the center to separate. This was notable for SFoT since it had been the first death in the parks 38 year history until that day. Here's one for Astroworld October 19, 2003: Seven people at Six Flags Astroworld in Houston were treated and released from a local hospital after a 2x6 board fell into the middle of a Texas Cyclone coaster train while the ride was running. -
Stupid Moves that Parks have made
ArizonaGuy replied to tribar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Six Flags Fiesta Texas finally getting a Batman: The Ride mirror image clone and then naming it "Goliath" when it's the 3rd or 4th tallest coaster in the park. They could have easily gone with El Toro or Raging Bull to go with the Los Festvales section of the park but no, they went with the stupidest option they could possibly find. Im not gonna fault them for the actual coaster itself just because SFFT needed an inverted coaster and had Six Flags not taken it out of Sfno, it would have just rotted away. So they did the right thing followed by a stupid thing. And no, I don't give a crap that there was already one 10 miles away. -

^^ Already signed the petition. Thanks for posting. I can't believe the family didn't even try to stop him. That says a lot about their moral character.

B&M vs Intamin
ArizonaGuy replied to alpengeistdude321's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ I totally agree with that. And with that said.....I think I'm going to stick to B&M. They're just going to need to start impressing me a little more like they used to or I'm going to start cheating on them with Intamin. -
I think I'm going to go with a new Coaster Expedition for the next production. I am a total fan of the RAW material but I was watching some of the old Coaster Expedition videos the other night and I had forgotten what they were like. I think the new Texas/Midwest is going to give y'all tons of new material especially since some of these parks (SFFT) have changed a bit since the last time you filmed there. In anycase....looking forward to anything y'all put out, but Expedition is what I'd like to see because it gives you an idea of what those parks being featured are like as well as shows how fun TPR trips are.
