  1. We already have one of those, Dollywood! (hehehehe) JUST kidding. Nah, the last thing we need is a company like Wal Mart ruining the theme park industry, they did mighty fine ruining retail.
  2. As I said earlier, I thought this was a great concept if they do it right, and so far, it looks like they are. I'm quite impressed with the size of the ride, more notably, the 3800 foot length!
  3. Just went to look for my GSC pics, and the only one I have of Rim Runner is similar to the one already posted, albeit probably older. Canyon Blaster's original trains Rim Runner
  4. Thanks for sharing this, I love the obscure-park trip reports!
  5. Well, back then, it WAS cutting edge. But the "speed of fright" reference was WAY off, being probably one of the lamest Arrow suspended coasters ever. (beat out of lameness only by XLR8.)
  6. I liked mine better. It would have meant we were going to Hershey! LOL
  7. OMFG! That made me laugh histerically! Waiting for baby log flume or baby rapids.
  8. OK, here's the SAD and PATHETIC part of my life: I've been here for 7 years, and STILL haven't ridden it.
  9. OMG! I have that KI savings newspaper somewhere! They played that commercial to DEATH in Pittsburgh, and of course, between KI's #, and CP's 1-800-best-fun, I had coupons out the wazoo! That one "touched" me. Thanks Shane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. ^Oh, I see what you mean now. Yea, I could see that too. When the initial announcement leaked, they SCRAMBLED to try to keep it hush hush. Too bad their designer had a big mouth. What I don't understand is the secrecy. It's not like it's a breakthrough attraction that's going to revolutionize anything. I'm so surprised nobody has posted pictures from outside the park yet. I'm anxious to see where it is and what it looks like, since I won't be in PGH this year.
  11. Well, if they're using light-guns, it is very possible. If strobe-based, a flash would set the entire place off. And if infered based, night-shot could do the same. But from the exterior, they couldn't stop people.
  12. I agree, and disagree. Granted there are companies that will always manufacture these kinds of rides, and they are popular in carnivals, they're removed all the time. Kennywood has removed many-o-ferris wheel in it's history and currently doesn't have one. With the exception of these new MONSTER ferris wheels going up around the world as single tourist traps, I could see ferris wheels disappearing in 20 years in amusement parks. It is sad to see this classic Whip go, but it really was in bad shape. From what I understand, KW spends tons of money having parts remanufactured for it's classic rides. But it's something so important to it's image that it's money well spent for them. What I did notice on my last KW visit is that they installed a modern custom-fitted motor on it's Kangaroo ride, which was probably worth more than the entire ride itself.
  13. Wow! I'm such an Anton fan! I hope this makes it in a U.S. park!
  14. Don't think I'll judge the place until I see a full scale opening with everything working, and a real crowd. I wasn't expecting much from this park to begin with, (and not in a bad way, was expecting what it is, a small attraction...) and was really only interested in RPM. (Which I knew wouldn't be on-time, prototypes never are.)
  15. See, image IS everything. Looks awesome compared to... From RCDB
  16. As an vid eBay shopper, I reported this. Lets see if they actually do something about it. The seller also has a slight history of failing to pay for won items.
  17. Good catch! The EXIF info on the image was a dead give-away. If you zoom in, (s)he didn't get all the red pixels. 18. Ah, the memories of CES, the only time of the year in Vegas when playing a nickel slot in a TEAM SPORT. I swear, you'd get a busload of asians, following a flag-girl, single file, to a nickel slot machine, and one person would put one nickel in at a time. Histerical!
  19. Round 2 for me: Cody: For a video of just one ride, this was GREAT! Awesome pacing and editing. Matthew: Pacing was off, but showed a great variety of the park, which I liked. Ryan: Just didn't feel this one, but it's better than me, I didn't do a video. Jimbo: Great pacing and TPR antics! Fun! Justin: Besh shooting of this bunch!
  20. Hi R&E&K, Just wanted your thoughts on image stabilization, I too use Sony Mini-DV cams: Do you use it at all? If so, do you use it just for rides, or just for handheld shots, or all the time? I always seem to get strange results when using it. I do mostly handheld shooting, but also do the tripod now and then. Do you have a technique on holding the camera? Just curious about the great results you guys always seem to have.
  21. It's not the springs that make them safer, it's the cables. Bungee cords are supposed to be replaced after 20 uses, A.J. Hacket replaces them every 10 jumps I believe. (They have a perfect safety record!) You know these carnies are NOT changing out the bungee cords as they should.
  22. This isn't the 1st time this has happened on "bungy" styled slingshots. It's great to see that this one had the safety cable in place, and that it worked.
