  1. Screw nursing, I want to be a certified barbecue judge!
  2. What a fun trip report! You guys really got to do some cool stuff. I love BBQ, I would consider myself a BBQ enthusiast! Thanks for sharing!
  3. When we had the dining plan I felt we got the best bang for our buck combined with a delicious meal at La Cellier and Kona Cafe. The food at Kona especially was fantastic and I feel that it is an overlooked place to eat.
  4. I also am a big fan of Blizzard Beach. Myself and 3 of my friends went there for the first time in September of '06 and loved it! I had been to Typhoon Lagoon twice before and although I enjoyed it, we never spent more than about 3-4 hours there and we easily spent 6-8 at Blizzard Beach. Take away the roller coaster slides and the swimming with sharks at Typhoon Lagoon and you really aren't left with much more than a regular waterpark. It is enough to make me want to plan my next trip when I for sure know that BB is open. We went on pretty much everything at BB, loved the chair lifts, the mat racing slides and the lazy river. We were probably in that lazy river for 2 hours.
  5. Happy Birthday! Hope you get to do something special and that involves limited planning on your part!
  6. On the way home we were all commenting on what a great and unique event this was. Thank you so much for all the hard work put into it. I think the highlights for me were getting to see X2 and hearing all about the ways in which they design it and all the different factors that they must take into consideration when creating a coaster. I seriously thought it was some sort of a computer program that controlled the way the seats spin so it was neat to hear the system that did that. We were shocked at how expensive X was! Wow! How cool to have that caliber of a ride at our local park! It was also very interesting to hear the various speakers at the presentation and have some questions answered. They really are working to change the culture of the park and you can see how their enthusiasm and love for their jobs has and will continue to trickle down to their front line staff. I have a meeting at my hospital today where we talk about patient satisfaction and I intend on bringing up some of things we heard yesterday, especially about empowering the people that work for you. Finally, Robb noted how the park has improved so much just in the last 7 months. I completely agree. I stopped going to SFMM about 7 years ago because it was just a poorly run park and not really a quality experience anymore, not even worth the low 50 or 60 dollars a pass costs. However, after reading everything on TPR I decided to give it a shot again and am very glad I did!
  7. Last night I saw the Foo Fighters at the Forum in Inglewood. It was an awesome concert. They played for more than 2 hours and sounded great. As a special treat Serj Tankian opened for them which just made the night all the better for me as Serrj is one of my favorite vocalists and System of a Down is my favorite band. On a side note, parking was 22 dollars! WTF??? 22 dollars to park in the freakin' ghetto!
  8. I am getting excited for this event seeing as the last time I went to Magic Mountain in December we only went on Tatsu because it was freezing! I loved the ride but I felt like I was going to die when it did that [insert fancy rollercoaster term here] or as we liked to call it "upside down feel like you are diving headfirst and can't breathe towards the end part". Looking forward to trying again! That was my first time at MM in like 7 years so I feel like I haven't really been to the park in that long. One question: Would I be able to do update my pass to the one that includes parking at some point during the day or will we be too busy with stuff? My friends and I are going to watch some of my TPR DVDs tomorrow night so they have a better idea of what they have gotten themselves into!!! Melissa
  9. No worries Pure, although you are a little young for us! We have been to meets with hardcore Disney fans so I imagine we will be fine with TPR people.
  10. What is it about Sayid? He has grown hotter each week I have watched. We were all talking about it at work this morning. I love reading spoilers. What's a good spoiler website for Lost?
  11. Just signed up myself and 2 of my lady friends! We are excited to attend our first ever TPR event.
  12. I am brand new to Lost. With the strike going on I needed to get some new shows to look forward to and so I watched the catch-up episode and the season premiere. Now I am hooked! This show is awesome! Thanks for posting the episode summary, it really helps newcomers like me!
  13. I will be at SFMM for the first time in like 7 years tomorrow! My friends and I decided to get the annual pass so that we can go back and ride X or X2 or whatever it is called. We are most excited for Tatsu, although I am a little nervous because I am having a harder time tolerating coasters as I get older. I will try and write a trip report when we return!
  14. So fun to see these old ads. It really does make me miss the old Knott's. Its hard to believe that my family had a hard time each year trying to decide between Knott's and Disneyland for our annual trip. Going on Revolution and then Montezuma's Revenge were rights of roller coaster passge in my family! Thanks for taking the time to post these!!!
  15. Great update and thanks for all your continued hard work! I have not been to SFMM since 2000 where ironically our last ride before we left was Flashback. Needless to say I hated it and I am not at all sad it is leaving. Hopefully I am going next week and this gets me excited!
  16. For all you Travel Channel fans, Samantha Brown did a special on this ship. I have it DVR'd to rewatch. Unfortunately it looks like it isn't on again until December 28th, but maybe you could find it online somewhere. Anyway, that special made me want to go on this ship in particular and I think this is a GREAT deal for this ship. We paid like 275 to go on the ghetto Carnival ship out of LA for a weekend.
  17. Hmmmm . . . . my friend and I were planning on doing this exact cruise at the end of March. I will have to think about maybe a different date. A question, do we have to do an inside cabin??
  18. Wow, I spent nearly a month in armpit-of-the-earth Calcutta and did not see any corpses on the streets. I did see a bus driver get pulled out of a bus after hitting an old man and get beat to death though. I absolutely loved India. I felt so welcome there and loved the spirit of the people. It really felt like you had stepped back in time. I was there to work with Mother Teresa's Sisters of Mercy though so my reason for being there might have affected the way I felt about the place. I would go back in a heartbeat though and hope to someday adopt a baby from there. On a coasterish note, there was an old rundown carnival that had a giant handpainted "Disneyland" sign on it. We all cracked up at that.
  19. I was wondering about having 3 people in a room for the East Coast Trip, would that be allowed? I understand that the price may have to stay the same. Thanks!
  20. Thanks ahead of time for all the updates you will be doing! This is a great idea! I am so excited for the changes that will be occuring at USF/IOA!
  21. Oh Jedi Master of Planning Trips, we have faith that you can do it!!!! I think a lot of people would be interested in a trip like this and even better that it is far away, that gives us plenty of time to save the money to go!!!
  22. Since someone brought up the recently opened Finding Nemo I wanted to comment. I, with my own ears, heard Cast Members telling people to go do other stuff while someone waited in line and then come back and rejoin the group. This is especially easy because the line is out in the open so it is really just a matter of ducking under a chain as oppposed to squeezing pass a bunch of people. So, did we do it? Yup, but I would not had the CMs said it was not okay. I was there with a friend and our other friend's 2 little girls. I waited in line while they watched the parade and then my friend waited in line while I took the girls on the Matterhorn. We waited about 40 minutes together as a group for a grand total of about 90 minutes. On a side note, the 5 year old ended up having an accident on the subs. This was not the fault of the long line. It was my fault in that I am not a mother and when I retartedly told her the subs were like an airplane inside, she assumed there would be a bathroom for her to use. She ended up with some awesome 22 dollar too big sweats. I called her "Cholita" the entire night for her low riding pants!!! On a side side note, we saw Lance Bass getting on the subs!!!!
  23. That looks so cool! I am dying to go to Dollywood and this just made me want to even more! Thanks for posting so quickly!
  24. I would like to echo all of the congratulations! It must have all passed by so quickly! 4 hours! Almost 5 weeks early! Yikes! It really is a blessing that she is doing so well! She is beautiful and I wish you all the best. Take it easy in the next few weeks and accept all the help you can get!
  25. I am a huge Harry Potter fan, this make me both excited for this idea and also a little worried. On the one hand, they could do a great job and really make fantastic new attractions and create more Harry fans. On the other hand, they could totally do something on the cheap or crappy and ruin a potentially good idea. I love Dueling Dragons, but not because it is themed to dragons; I love it because I like the feeling that you are going to crash into the other train. I don't think how you feel about a movie franchise necessarily ties in to how you feel about an attraction. I have never seen the Mummy movies all the way through and I enjoy both Mummy rides. I love the Back to the Future series but hate the ride.
