  1. Robb- I love your gloves!!! Where did you get them? That event looks great! Thanks again for the pictures!
  2. Wow, those commons are great! Glad to see they are part of your "package".
  3. I have just finished reading this entire thread and I am very happy for you and the decision you have made! It is so hard with parents sometimes and although a lot gets easier as we become adults, some of our relations with them get more difficult. I think that in the end they will see the good in this choice. You seem like a great guy and I really hope everything works out! That said, have a great time! I am so looking forward to hearing about everything! Will you be staying in those treehouse things? When we wree there a couple of weeks ago, we took the boat by them and they said the International Program people stay there. Keep us up to date!!!
  4. Another one for Disneyland! We are arriving at 7 and going to DCA if we can not get into DL. Had a great time last year!
  5. Lovin the reports, as always! I am freezing just looking at you guys! Thanks for taking the time to post them! I am so jealous of that drum game, I just played the ghetto version that breaks down all the time at DisneyQuest and still loved it!!!
  6. Great TR! I was just in Orlando last week and still working on my report. We went to the Adventurer's Club for the first time and it was great. Those guys were all hilarious! We watched the Balderdash Cup. My only complaint was that there were a bunch of people that came all the time and were only too excited to prove it. They were so irritating and we even thought the actors were bugged by them.
  7. Well, I gave 70 flu shots to city employees today and now have 3 in my fridge. I am waiting to take mine until I get home from Orlando. I have gotten sick before and do not want to risk it. As a nurse, I would highly reccommend that if you are one of the groups advised to get it that you go ahead and do that.
  8. I will also be there on December 4th. Can't wait!!!
  9. I love NYC! You are going to have a great time. Have you ever been? Here are my thoughts, sorry no themepark stuff: 1. Shopping is the best there! Canal Street has all the great, realistic looking knock-offs. My friend got a Berkin bag there that even her friend that works at Hermes can not find a difference in! Also, H&M is great, especially the one on 34th. 2. We loved the subway. It is so convenient, fast and easy to use! 3. Eat, eat, eat!!! I love pizza, so NYC is like my mecca. I never found one that was bad. Cafe Lalo is also a great place for desserts and tea. It is on the Upper West Side. 4. My favorite museum was the Natural History Museum. 5. We used TKTS in Times Square to get cheap tickets to plays. 6. I encountered no more rude people there than I have anywhere else! The city was also much cleaner and safer than I was imagining. Have Fun!!!!
  10. Oh no! I hope Dragons isn't down when I go to IOA next month!
  11. Hmmmmmmmm . . I am thinking maybe now we should cross Mythos off our list for our December trip. We have never been there, is it still worth it?
  12. How fun! I have loved RHPS since I saw it in 8th grade. People are usually really suprised to find out that someone like me loves something like that! I have never been to a theater showing, but I have listened to all the audience particpation stuff. RCT, thanks for the info about Universal Orlando showing it! Maybe I will try and catch my first live show while I am there. Janet! Dr. Scott Janet! Brad! Rocky!
  13. I was so scared the first time I rode Mission:Space. I was so afraid I was going to get sick and embarass myself. I ended up fine, but I have NEVER been so worried. I also agree that drop towers are scary and I was pretty scared the first time I rode Xcelerator, but that launch is incredible.
  14. Cool TR! I am currently planning a trip to the East Coast for next year, so stuff like this is really helpful! I have always wanted to go to Quincy market, it is frequently on Travel Channel and Food Network.
  15. Great TR! I am amazed that travelling rides can look so cool! One question, how do you guys eat that food and then ride those rides? Some of those rides make me sick just by looking at them! Thanks for sharing!
  16. Pretty funny. I like the part where Elissa yells at Robb that she doesn't know something from 1983 because she's not like 40 years old.
  17. I too am a Democrat and I am more and more glad everyday that I did not vote for George Bush.
  18. Cool trip report! Thanks for the pictures. I can't believe that they are closing, it is always sad to see a park close.
  19. What about doing a Fantasmic dinner package? Then you can enjoy the show from a good spot without having to wait all night. I LOVE Fantasmic at Disneyland, but choose to skip it at MGM.
  20. I think sound great! I just watched a Biography special about Hershey and it gave me the itch to visit his town. Now I really want to go as Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are my favorite candy!
  21. Great TR! Thanks for taking the time to share it! I still can't get the parade song out of my head and it has been a year since I went! "Ghosts and goblins don't stand a chance at my not-so-scary Halloween Dance!!!"
  22. It was GOOD candy, Twix, Nestle, 3 Muskateers, Snickers, M&Ms, etc. I would say it was the same as at MNSSHP. I don't have any more pictures. My camera got stuck under a sleeping baby in a stroller. There are tons online though. I am looking at Eric's pictures from Orlando and I am so bummed that I am not there!!! I am glad I got a little fix from this event though!
  23. I attended this event on Saturday the 22nd and I must say, I was pretty impressed. I had been to MNSSHP for the first time and absolutely loved it, so I went into this event with low expectations knowing that it was California and DCA. The event was from 7:30 to 10:30 and the tickets were 15 bucks each. The first thing was that it took us forever to get to the DLR, traffic was horrible and then getting into the parking structure was even worse. It normally takes us 45 minutes to get from my door to the esplanade, and on Saturday it took nearly and hour and a half! The good thing was that we were able to walk right in at 7:35, whereas I had heard that people had line dup early and ended up in line forever. As I am at work and this needs to be short, here are the highlights: - They only sold 5,000 tickets for this event, so although it seemed crowded by DCA standards, it really wasn’t. No ride wait was longer than 5-10 minutes. - There were about 10-15 trick or treat stations. They were themed pretty well to look like doors. The ones at MK are themed much better though. They did this stupid thing where you had to get your map stickered to get candy and this process really slowed up the line. Overall, they weren’t too bad though. The candy was good quality also, like at the MK event and they gave out a lot. - They piped in music throughout the park, which added to the atmosphere. This included Bare Naked Ladies version of Grim Grinning Ghosts, Nightmare Before Christmas, etc. It was pretty cool. - They had 3 dance places set up with characters. There were a lot of people at these and they looked like fun. - Make sure you eat before you come. There were few food places open and they were crowded with slow ops. - There were a lot of characters around, many wearing costumes. The lines to see some of them were pretty long though. They had little stations set up to see them. One complaint was that these closed earlier than the event. We saw many of them closed at 10. - They had these live people as scarecrows in the farm area. They were really cool and it was fun to see them interact with the guests! - The decorations were better than I had expected, though not spectacular. They had the light projections, pumpkins, these fan things, etc. -It was really fun to see all the different costumes, as many people were dressed up! Overall, this was a great event and I think it will be well received. I really hope that after this they consider doing something on a larger scale in DL next year. Maybe they could add a parade and better-themed candy stations. I had heard that the reason they stopped doing this years ago was because they couldn’t compete with the other local Halloween events. I think though that they really could tap into this market now, especially given that many kids no longer trick or treat and the other events are for adults. We had a great time and would do it again in a heartbeat! One of the cool scarecrows that was talking to people. Me and the little scarecrow. My friend's son, Brock, was a little fireman. On the tram. From left to right, it is Shelley (gypsy), Anne (Sally), and myself as Cinderella, of which my friends made fun of me for being all night. Tons of people came up to my friend Anne and many wanted pictures of her. Kim considered being a dominatrix cross-dresser. We went looking for costumes. Contrary to popular belief, this is not what I wear to work!
  24. I am sad that this is closing. My family always enjoyed going every couple of years and I went 2 years ago. I am hoping I can make it there before it closes for good!
  25. Yeah, a Florida TR! I am heading there for my second time in December and especially looking for any tips for Typhoon Lagoon!
