Well, it's Busch Gardens Europe. But you're really supposed to guess the previous one correctly (and have that confirmed) before you go. -

^ Two days is a long time for a thread like this. You probably do need to pop in once in a while just to say that all the guesses have been wrong, or people will think you've forgotten about it. -
Carowinds Discussion Thread
Electerik replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's pretty much my take on it. First of all, I'm not a credit whore. And I've been on enough Boomerangs that I no longer bother, unless I'm with someone who really wants to ride it, or there looks to be something unique and/or interesting about it. Secondly, I've already been on this one. Having said that, the new trains would probably be enough for me to give it a try, if the line wasn't too long. It's certainly won't lure me back to Carowinds. But, then again, I don't really think I'm the target market. -

Hmmm that's funny these things have made the wait in lines much, much shorter for me! Have they? If I raise the price of something by $20.00, then give you $10.00 off, did you really save $10.00? FastPass systems make things worse. Unfortunately, since you can't visit the same park on the same day both with and without those systems in place, it's difficult to prove to people that they really are worse off for it. -
That was actually what it was named to begin with in 1986. At some point the park started calling it the Smoky Mountain River Rampage on the guide maps. (I guess to clearly define it as being a water ride or something) I don't think the sign out in front of the ride has ever had the word "River" on it though. Thanks. I guess I was slightly confused on that one. I recalled it being the River Rampage, and assumed it had been renamed because of River Battle. But looking back at some older photos, you're right: the sign hasn't changed.

For the last three years, Dollywood has been my "home park." But, since I haven't done a TR this season, and it'd been over a month since our last visit, we decided to spend the whole day there, with the mentality that we'd never been before. We dressed for water rides. Which is good, because it rained all day. Nevertheless, some of the pictures actually came out pretty good, despite the gloomy skies. Noted. (And what better way to end?) This was a strange new attraction: Dolly's tour bus. Which you could tour, and then purchase a photo of yourself standing inside. Mostly because of the on-board radio. Still my favorite car ride. The slightly renamed Smoky Mountain Rampage in all its glory. And here's one for...well, I don't know, really. Here's one for The Nerd. I'll just snipe some old people, instead. Enough spinning for me. Go on without me. We rode this one, though! A beautiful ride that's so boring that we skipped it with no line. The Country Fair is growing in nicely. "Crap, there's that stupid fire hydrant again. Just ignore him and maybe he'll go away." Dolly hates to fly. (This is apparently true. Don't say I never taught you anything.) The front side of the Grist Mill. I call this shot, "Frog Desires Penny." This clock does not appear to be completely accurate. I'm kind of the world. We've eaten, now which way? The back side of the Grist Mill. Denied. Run away! Now Misty wants to be cool like me. Do your worst; I'm dressed for water rides. Misty tries her luck with the frog horn. This ramp is not wheelchair accessible. Employee, employee, employee, hmmm...that lady on the bench might be a guest. :OP The big bucket thing at the end of the ride. Daredevil Falls Egads! Other people! Park...not...busy. They've added little eagle stables. An old-school, er, old school--where they taught you how to suffer. "Fire in the hole!" That's not good.... "It looks like you've been kissin' that steam train!" Misty's favorite ride at Dollywood. Really? "Raring"? The trail of destruction the Tornado leaves in its wake. This is kind of a new picture. Okay, so it's not going to be crowded today. Yes, I've taken this photo 100 times. The lye soap stand has a new home there, as well. A new eatery along the new path that connects Timber Canyon to the Tennessee Tornado area. It costs $3.00 Misty takes aim. Dolly's newest ride, River Battle. See? ...they would make a really kick ass panorama. If I could somehow stitch this picture together with the next two... A bear lives under Thunderhead's second hill. The pre-lift mini-helix. Thunderhead's station and famous "fly through." I hope the line's not too long. :OP Well, mostly. The Huss ride is working! Everyone has this picture. But it is our first time here.... Hey, a bakery! Let's go in there! You know...I've worked at a lot of parks. And I consider myself pretty guest service oriented. But that's a new one on me. Yay, a new park!

Nice report from a park I don't get to see very much of. Thanks! -
If those wait time signs are down permanently, Ill be happy. They're worse than useless, because most rides have no greeter, and any wandering guest can change them to say anything they want to.

So, if I order the Flying Turns Ravioli, how long will it take them to make it? I'm just joshing. Actually, I applaud them for trying to recreate a classic ride, and I hope it works out for them sooner rather than later. In any case, Knoebels looks awesome. Thanks for the photos.

I don't have "theories," I have math. You have "feelings." So, really, we're not even speaking the same language. But I'm glad you had a good time at Disneyland. I'll be at Holiday World, and we'll both be happy.

Interestingly phrased. So you don't think FastPass increases standby wait times, or you just think that they're harmless because there's going to be some kind of wait anyway? Again, I may be stupid, but I'm not sure I follow your argument. So I'll counter it with a blanket statement: Virtual queues do not increase a ride's capacity one iota. So if you get in line, and I get a FastPass, you wait double--once for yourself, and once for me. That's because those rides have low capacity to begin with, and adding FastPass to them would flood guest services with complaints from people who waited in the standby line, and from people who wanted a FastPass but found they couldn't get one ten minutes after the ticket kiosks opened. No, FastPass causes people to have to crisscross the park in order to achieve what they used to be able to do in a more or less linear fashion. And the standby line is only shorter in the sense that fewer people are standing in it. You do understand that they're standing in it longer, though, right? And herein lies the problem. People like (free) virtual queues because they think it helps them. It doesn't, but they think it does. Pay ones really do help people, of course, but at the cost of making others wait longer. Remember how in Roller Coaster Tycoon, you could make the little peeps pay to get in AND to ride stuff? I always used to think that was unrealistic because real people wouldn't stand for it. And yes, you as a "smart" patron can use a free system to wait less time than someone who gives it little thought. But didn't we all used to do that anyway by showing up early and trying to outsmart the crowds about what time of day to hit up each ride? FastPass is a shell game. Only pay systems actually achieve anything. But exactly what they achieve is a bit more muddled, morally-speaking.
