I'm still thinking it's going to be tallest inversion on a roller coaster. -
Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom Discussion Thread

Technically, your questions don't have anything to do with "behind the scenes" stuff because any person could just walk the whole parade route on the sidewalk and time it with a mobile phone. There isn't really a "set" time that the parade is en route for. Sometimes, for impending rain or if crowds or high, they'll book it from start to finish. Sometimes, there's a problem and the floats have to stop briefly. I would wager on average the parade lasts about a half hour from the start of the music track to the end of it. Tinkerbell's balloon is usually crossing the bridge into Liberty Square when the gate closes behind the To Honor America float. If it's any consolation, usually The Magic The Memories and You has started playing in the castle forecourt before the parade music stops near Splash Mountain. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

I had my own "GP" moment the first time I rode Expedition Everest. The helix inside the mountain does feel like it's an inversion. -

Oh, poor Aska. Aska needs more attention than the Big Dipper did, IMO. -
[RCT2] Rainbow Valley

Small progress update. Still on the Herrier side of the river. Brown rectangles made of dirt indicate plots for buildings. Here you can see most of Crawler's layout. Here's Herrier's station, albeit more complete than when I showcased it in the preview thread. This is probably Herrier's most distinguishing feature, a teardrop-shaped dip. You can see Cavern Log Flume peeking out right in front of the waterfall. -

That's the strangest-looking wave swinger I've ever seen. -
Let's get this challenge started the right way. I created this design years ago before I started working with Newton2, and it always has been one of my best hand-built coasters. If enough people seem to like it, I'll clean it up further. Presenting - Schlingenflieger. I agree with that. RCT2 has so much more of a following than RCT3 because it's more accessible to players (lower graphics requirement). I play RCT2 more than RCT3 because I'm lazy and I don't like having to make the insides of buildings.

Thorpe Park Discussion Thread
A.J. replied to Rooey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thorpe Park didn't rip off Mystery Mine. The only similarities the two roller coasters have is that they both have sections in the dark. Saw's dark section is also so much shorter than Mystery Mine's many long ones, with nothing but a turn, barrel roll, and another turn. The rest of the ride is completely outdoors. -
Since most of the players in this forum are teenagers who are most likely in high school, they'll probably dedicate less time to playing the games when school starts again. I'm predicting participation will be down all over starting near the end of the month. Are we able to easily get participation numbers through the management system? Like, how many total tracks were submitted for the "track of the week" category? That could make decision-making a bit easier.

[RCT2] Rainbow Valley
A.J. replied to A.J.'s topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I'll consider changing the color of Crawler - Herrier will stay the same tan. I kept the colors the same between the two rides to signify that they were produced by the same people (the park's engineering team). I'll also fence around the entrance pond when I'm finished with the area. While I combined the two scenario concepts, the end result will be a full-fledged park and not a playable scenario. I plan on filling up most of the space. Sorry if it bursts your bubble. -
"The local authority prohibits construction above tree height." Okay, fine. I'll agree to your terms. Creating Rainbow Valley is a very unique undertaking for me. It's going to be based on two scenarios from the RCT franchise - Rainbow Valley from the original RCT, and Rainbow Summit from RCT2. The overarching principle behind Rainbow Valley is simple - it's an amusement park that focuses as much on entertainment as it does nature. The east side of the valley has a main set of accessible pathways down the center of the property, with various nature trails flanking the main drags on either side. A chairlift also provides access from the top down to the base of the valley. Along the nature trails, guests can get close-up views of cliffsides, waterfalls, and more. The west side of the valley is dominated by three major attractions - Herrier, the park's signature wooden roller coaster; Crawler, the smaller but just as thrilling wooden roller coaster; and the Cavern Log Flume, one of the longest and most scenic flume rides in existence. Keep in mind that all screenshots presented in this post and subsequent updates are works in progress unless I say otherwise. Let's get started. This is the park's entrance plaza. The chairlift's station foundation has been placed. Here's one of the nature trails. The spires with flags indicate checkpoints, so the trails are easier to navigate. Herrier has an out-and-back layout. At this point, it navigates an intense downward spiral, shoots into the underground, and re-emerges in an upward spiral. Crawler's small lift hill provides a unique head-chopper for Herrier riders - the airtime ends right as the cars go under the structure - the forces do the ducking for the riders.

[RCT2] TPR Group Park!
A.J. replied to Coupon's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I'm working on Rainbow Valley right now (and fall semester is starting in a week), so I can't be a huge contributor to those projects. What I will gladly do is this - if one of the parks ends up with an awkward open space, I'll gladly fill it. I've made some very unique track layouts in very unique spaces. -
The "Preview" Thread
A.J. replied to DBru's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
You could also modify the terrain so there isn't as much support structure going up the lift and before the drop. Cliffs don't look bad if they're done right - that's how I'm making Herrier, my terrain coaster. I'd try and keep as much of the coaster below tree height as you can. -

Unfortunately, yes I do. As for the supports, who cares if they're not "close to B&M"? Maybe B&M was trying something different. -

Bittersweet. On one hand, this brings the fleet back to twelve, and should improve capacity issues. On the other hand, using those spare parts from the pink/purple accident means - less spare parts. -

What Rides Scares the Crud Out Of You?
A.J. replied to EuroTre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Drives me crazy as well. I watched a video of one of the Flight of Fears, and the operator was dead silent for all of thirty seconds before he said "bye" and subsequently launched the train. Another one is Storm Runner's launch (though I didn't ride it this year, I was sick during ERT), when it gets launched before the guy finishes saying, "now get ready, here we go". -
Wickline Lake [RCT2]

Maybe it would be a good idea to put something neat and original in your park instead of restricting yourself to the design styles of those companies. Just a thought.
