Looks like Intamin redid the ride. The old Gyro Swings have a much wider gap for the pendulum and motor of the ride. I like this new one better, reminds me of the Huss version which is better looking than the old version IMO.

Unpainted rails is a customer choice for most manufacturers that costs extra.

That sun is gorgeous! [fbvideonew] [/fbvideonew] Overall height of the tower is now reported to be 76 meters without the sun, so the drop height should be somewhere around a few meters below that. All the larger SBF towers use them and also a few from Fabbri. Probably some more.

The ride would obviously been much better at the parking lot, but I do find it really hilarious that the bitching neighbors (who freely chose to move next to an amusement park who has been there for soon 150 years...) will end up with the same ride next to them anyway From the little I've heard it's going to be focused on both indoors an outdoors. Pure speculation would be that they are creating a new outside area on top of an indoor area that is digged down into the ground. The basement is too valuable IMO to create a parking garage (besides, almost all of the visitors come without cars nowadays).

Holy shitballs! Not sure yet if I approve or not. I think Twister already ruined a lot of the old atmosphere. Oh well, everything has it's time I suppose.

That is a seriously awesome trip report! I had hoped myself to get there before they place on the new sarkofag, but that's not gonna happen. Let's also remember that there is a lesson to learn here: Never cheap out and build your reactor without the containment building and never ever turn of your security system in the middle of the night to run an unauthorized experiment.

There wasn't really any risk of it having to be torned down. What is the risk, and what we are still waiting for, is if they are allowed to operate the ride or not before the plan is voted into effect and appealed all the way to the top.
