  1. Now that they don't have to pay for the Hard Rock name, maybe they can lower the ticket cost to 25-30. That'll get me through the gate.
  2. As long as the cars are enclosed, i'm all for it. Ferris wheels have always scared me. My wife and I were terrified when we were on the one at CP. And yet we get on it every year
  3. They could name it Head Spin, and use all the old signage. I see that as a definite possibility. I still can't believe that Carowinds got yet ANOTHER used Vekoma, under different ownership. That has to be a record.
  4. I live 15 minutes from the park now. Haven't been to the park in 2 years and I've lived within 80 miles of the park for all my life. It's a boring park. It doesn't cater to enthusiasts, as it shouldn't. It's the only major theme park in the area. HRP, SFOG, KD, Dollywood, and BGE are all at least 3 hours away. So obviously, there isn't much competition in the area. Once you do Top Gun, Thunder Road, Drop Zone, and Borg (In that order), there isn't much of a reason to be there. I'd buy a season pass if they would just build a steel hyper with some airtime. Carowinds lacks airtime BIGTIME. We've heard rumors of a hyper for years. And that's all they've been is rumors. It's possible for 2009, but I only say that because it'll be 5 years since they've had a major attraction, and it seems to be in 5 year increments that Carowinds gets a major attraction since 1994. Hurler (1994) Top Gun (1999) Borg (2004) ????? (2009)
  5. I'm guessing, but I'm sure B&M has better technology now, and therefore does not need the pre-drop to relieve tension on the chain. I actually like the pre-drop, especially on Mantis with the turnaround. From Wiki
  6. BGE, KD, SFOG, Carowinds in March/First of April HRP Opening Day CP Opening Day possibly I'll hit Florida from the rooter to the tooter this summer
  7. Afterburner would have been a better name. Afterburn is a verb? no? This is where theming and licensing come into play for the win. Nothing against Snoopy and Charlie Brown, but they're all washed up.
  8. Remember what happened the last time we got a wooden coaster. It turned into a jackhammering POS in a few years. No more wood for Carowinds. The Hurler and TR are more than enough. We need steel. 200ft airtime machine that'll draw some attention. Now if we're talking an Intamin Wooden coaster, then maybe. Otherwise, no. And I don't want a twisting layout with no airtime.
  9. While LZ is a bit generic, I'm excited because it's one of a few classic sit down B&M loopers. I'll be there opening day, that's for sure. Between the Zepplin, Maximum RPM, and Midnight Rider, they'll be plenty to do. Give HRP some time, they'll start catering to enthusiasts once the $$$ starts flowing.
  10. In no particular order 1. MF @ CP - After that first drop and overbanked turn...BORING 2. Mean Streak - close your eyes and picture yourself being placed in a barrell and thrown down the side of a mountain. 3. Hurler @ Carowinds and Kings Dominion. See above 4. Deja Vu - Because I'll never got the chance to ride one when I visited a park with one. And chances are, i'll never get to ride one. 5. Mantis - Positive G's + family jewels = no good. As an aside, I hate wooden coasters in general. I've heard great things about El Toro, so I'll hold my opinion on it until I get a chance to ride it. But after a few seasons, wooden coasters are painful. Retracking never seems to do any good. I just don't see why parks keep spending $$$ on these jackhammering coasters. You shouldn't have to know the "magic seat" in order to get a good ride. If I own a park, I dont want to own a lawn ornament that only provides a great experience in Car 3 left back seat. I know steel coasters can get rough over the years, but nothing can compare to the roughness of a wooden coaster in a short period of time.
  11. I am death scared of ferris wheels. I never feel safe in them at all.
  12. Call me crazy, but I've been once a year for the past 3 years, and you aren't missing much. It's comments like these that actually make me want to go to said parks or ride said rides even more, just so I can find out myself, you know? For me, the two parks I think about most are SFMM and KBF... I've been to SFMM and CP... CP may be a better park all around, but if you're a coaster nut, SFMM gets the nod from me.
  13. Call me crazy, but I've been once a year for the past 3 years, and you aren't missing much. You seem to like it enough to have one of its rides (with the park's name clearly attached on top, mind you) as your avatar. I'm just too lazy to change my avatar
  14. I'm going to do KD & BGE next season. I haven't been to KD since 2002 and I've never been to BGE.
  15. No, our Top Gun is a lot better (RUBS IT ALL IN BABY YEAH!) BTW, that is no exaggeration. Ours is better
  16. Call me crazy, but I've been once a year for the past 3 years, and you aren't missing much.
  17. How about: 'Jerry Springer: The Ride' I think I'd be up for a Jerry Springer Ride.
  18. Times like now, I wish we were still under the management of Paramount. I may change my mind later, but as of now, this is my position on Carowinds.
