  1. I don't know why people hate on Scream so much. It's ugly as anything and the location is awful but it's a good ride.
  2. We visited the park last year for the first time in over a decade and after Tatsu, Apocalypse and Batman, Ninja was our favorite ride in the park. I love it's proximity to the trees and the water and the unique layout it has which is a breath of fresh air in a Six Flags park. I hope Six Flags never removes this ride... but they probably will because it's Six Flags.
  3. People are overreacting so much... Even if they tease us for months and announce the new ride in Jaunuary if it's a good looking ride people will still go ride it. Also, this wasn't overhyped at all by the park. They made 1 tweet and then it was overhyped by enthusiasts. Did anyone actually think anything interesting would be announced today?
  4. This is the only interesting part of the release. I'm assuming that means there's something worth having a first rider auction on that will be open next year which makes the rumors of Mantis being totally removed for a 2016 coaster sound less likely unless of course they pick an existing ride and just have people be the first riders of the new season but I doubt that would generate much interest even if it was for charity.
  5. People swear that Dorney gets crowded but even on it's most crowded day you'll never wait more than 15-30 minutes for the major coasters. The water park is a different story though. ^ Kings Dominion can get absolutely slammed during Haunt (though that's true of most parks not named Dorney). Last year when we went on a Haunt Saturday Volcano had a 3 hour wait, Even Windseeker and Drop Tower were posting hour plus waits. We had Fastlane though so we didn't care.
  6. I think I'd do Millennium Force, Maverick, Raptor, Gatekeeper, Dragster and then go from there with Mantis finishing dead last by an enormous margin. It's the only coaster in the park that I don't enjoy at all. Mean Streak is a decent ride... nothing special but if you lean forward in your seat it's very smooth this year.
  7. I haven't been to a Disney park in years which is why I'm leaving Epcot out of this. By all accounts they have amazing food. I'm rarely in the mood for fine dining at a park so my list really consists of "park food". Obviously these things won't compare to high-end restaurants. Cinnamon Bread - Dollywood Cesari's Pizza - Knoebels German Pretzels - Busch Gardens Williamsburg Trapper's Smokehouse - Busch Gardens Williamsburg Chickie and Pete's Crab Fries - Cedar Fair Parks Anything with Butterbeer in it - Universal Orlando Famous Dave's - Cedar Point Marina (technically not in the park) Any generic "Cedar Point Food" is horrible... probably the worst food of any park I've been to. Fortunately they've brought in enough Franchises "TGI Friday's, Chick Fil A, Chickie and Pete's, Johnny Rocket's, Boardwalk Fries, Panda Express) that the food is decent because you can completely avoid their awful food. I was trying to think of something I liked at a Six Flags park and the best I can come up with is JB's at Six Flags New England but it's still nothing special and isn't worthy of being on this (or any) list. I also didn't get to try any park food at Sea World Orlando or Busch Gardens Tampa as we went during Bands, Brews and BBQ and while the food was amazing it wasn't the park's food.
  8. This is very cool. Obviously it has flaws but it's interesting to see how the raw data compares to things like the Mitch Hawker poll.
  9. Suspended Looping Coaster Over Water absolutely wins.
  10. I'm really enjoying this thread. Thanks so much for sharing your story.
  11. Just because of the ridiculous speculation that goes on on this site any time a coaster is removed I hope this ride goes to Darien Lake.
  12. The Penguin ride is horrible. They have a waterfall they turn on sometimes and it's the only way you get wet on the ride. Six Flags New England replaced their log flume with one of these ugly pieces of crap which is a real shame... they're completely pointless.
  13. No. All rides (minus the water rides) are open on Saturday and Sunday. On Friday, only the following rides are open (along with the mazes) Blue Streak Cadillac Cars Cedar Downs Dodgem GateKeeper Iron Dragon Kiddie Kingdom (seven rides) Lake Erie Eagles Magnum XL-200 Matterhorn Maverick maXair Mean Streak Millennium Force Midway Carousel Monster Ocean Motion Pipe Scream Planet Spooky Power Tower Raptor Scrambler Skyhawk SlingShot Top Thrill Dragster Wave Swinger Wicked Twister WindSeeker Link Banshee has been rattling since opening day near the back of the train. I don't think it's a big deal. A lot of the newer B&M coasters are doing that.
  14. I don't know about that. I think Mantis with floorless trains would be a lot of fun but I'm sure Raptor would still be lightyears ahead of it. Personally I love Gatekeeper despite the amazing amount of hate that it gets so I have a hard time believing Floorless Mantis would be better than that either though many people would probably disagree with me on that.
  15. I feel like I should give this park another chance in cooler weather. My biggest complaint about the place is Gotham City because it has absolutely no shade anywhere and can be absolutely brutal in the summer. I also think that area is completely hideous. The front of the park is pretty nice though and the new area looks like a huge improvement over what was the ugliest part of the entire park last year.
  16. I don't really like the fact that the lift supports go through the building. I'd suggesting cutting the building off so it butts up to the lift but isn't under it. The building feels a bit overpowering anyway so you'll kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Overall very nice though.
  17. Best seat on the whole train. I love Gatekeeper... I'll never understand the hate it gets.
  18. Yup, it's the same type of ride. The airtime they get is ridiculous and it stops on a dime at the bottom.
  19. Nobody (especially in the US) is going to replace a drop tower with another drop tower that's not any more marketable than what they already had... that makes no sense. Absolutely not. Voodoo Drop is still fun as all get out. It is a better ride than Zumanjaro. Zumanjaro is much better but if anyone wants to drive between SFA and Great Adventure to compare drop towers I'd suggest a detour to Knoebels since they have a better drop tower than either of them.
  20. This ride, and this type of ride as a whole are criminally underrated. All of them (with the exception of Iron Dragon which is still a good ride but it's more of a family ride) are fantastic.
  21. This park re-writes the rules of suck. Six Flags Great America can only hope to one day attain such a legendary level of suck. I expect the ride to be great though.
  22. Malestrom is only good because it's in the World Showcase and people rarely ride it when they're sober. It's time for a change. You people really need to let it go... (For everyone I've disgusted with that awful joke, I sincerely apologize.)
  23. I don't think that necessarily means the ride is being removed. By the way, does anyone find it a bit odd that Mantis won't be open on Friday nights during Halloweekends? Sure it hasn't been in the past and I know they have limited availability on Friday but you would think they'd be expecting longer than normal lines due to the fact that it's closing.
  24. I find every train on Kumba to be smooth. I guess it's a tiny bit bumpy in the corkscrews but who cares? I'd still consider it much smoother than 99% of coasters out there and I don't find any part of this ride even slightly uncomfortable.
