  1. Maybe they are cleaning it before putting a new coat of paint on? That's what I thought too but I know nothing about the process of painting coasters so I didn't want to speculate. I don't see why else they'd be doing it though. EDIT: They're still on there. https://www.cedarpoint.com/online-fun/live-video-cam
  2. So yesterday and today on the live cam there have been people on the lift hill of Mantis spraying it... I assume they're power washing it. If the ride was being scrapped they probably wouldn't be doing that. I guess they might be if they're moving it to a new park in the chain but I doubt it. Does anyone have any theories. They're on there right now if you jump over to the live cam and they were doing it yesterday too.
  3. The people that didn't get to ride it are the "lucky" ones.
  4. Ikr it's my home park and the staff is not friendly at all, except for maybe a few of them That's the funny thing. They have some of the rudest staff of any park anywhere. If they had a golden ticket award for the rudest and worst staff and they won I would have no complaints. I would be shocked if they didn't win that award actually.
  5. Once again in regards to Iron Dragon... In 2013 it had more riders than Top Thrill Dragster and Maverick. It's not going anywhere... the only coasters in the park that get more riders than Iron Dragon are Millennium Force, Gatekeeper, Raptor, Gemeni (barely) and maybe Magnum but that number isn't available. People really love this ride. The line is almost always full and overflowing onto the midway.
  6. I call myself a "Coaster Enthusiast" but everyone knows I'm really a Sky Ride and Log Flume enthusiast first and a coaster enthusiast second. Coaster enthusiasm is a gateway drug. ... actually wait, I never call myself a coaster enthusiast. I try to keep that on the down-low. lol
  7. Thank god this park wasn't voted one of the Friendliest parks in the country again. That was the most ridiculous thing to ever come out of the Golden Ticket awards and that's saying something.
  8. Absolutely... I couldn't stress this enough. It's much smoother than the back seat and it's still awesome.
  9. The Beast's is awesome... the music combined with the sound of the chain lift is very intimidating at night. Then again X2 plays clips from Full Metal Jacket which automatically makes it awesome. Too bad it's a terrible ride.
  10. That's the thing a lot of people are missing here. The world doesn't revolve around enthusiasts and it's hard to deny that Millennium Force is one of the most popular coasters in the world. Last year the coaster gave 1,680,269 rides... second in the park only to Gatekeeper which has a higher capacity and was new for last year. While ridership data isn't everything it's hard to deny this coaster's incredible staying power and popularity. It still pulls hour plus waits almost every day even though there are 15 other coasters in the park and the ride is now 15 years old. For a regional park with a large coaster lineup that's pretty amazing. Again... I'm not defending the Golden Ticket awards and I'm not saying that it should be awarded best coaster just because of the numbers that it does but when you look at those numbers it gives you an idea of where that #1 ranking comes from. I think it's safe to say that most people who visit the park would list Millennium Force as their favorite coaster. Enthusiasts make up a very small percentage of the population and even though they've generally ridden more coasters and could make better comparisons the Golden Tickets don't seem to be very concerned with that. They're more of a popularity contest than a scientific poll.
  11. Given Europa's huge jump last year I assumed they would take it this year. As far as the steel coaster list goes most of it is just hilariously bad. Diamondback, Nitro, Goliath, Apollo and Leviathan are all on the list and I305 and Maverick aren't? The list is a B&M fest and they didn't even include the best B&M rides... Kumba and Nemesis for example are nowhere to be found. I guess the good news is that Magnum XL 200 isn't on this list any more. As far as Millennium Force goes it may not be a popular opinion with enthusiasts but it's my favorite coaster so I'm happy to see that win even if these awards are totally screwy. It's important to note however that while it's my favorite coaster I haven't been on any of the awesome Intamin rides outside the US that always find themselves near the top of the Mitch Hawker poll.
  12. The fact that Flying Turns was voted best new attraction over Gringots is mind boggling. The fact that Gringots also finished behind Goliath and Banshee is even more insane.
  13. Does anyone else think that tower has the potential to be really hideous? The ride itself looks great but I hope they find a way to make that thing look relatively nice.
  14. Exactly... especially after a long day in the sun at a theme park. What I usually do with this kind of scenario is not book hotels on the travel days. That way when you leave the park you can drive as long as you want to and then stop when you get tired and finish up in the morning before the park opens. It's not that much more expensive... especially if you pick out a few potential hotels ahead of time.
  15. I want to stress that I have no clue what's wrong with it as I'm no expert but it really does seem like some type of issue in that area based on the pictures. I agree with you about Green Lantern. Superman though is a decent ride. We rarely ride it because of the insane line it gets but if we ever see a manageable wait for it we take a ride. It's not in the same league as some other B&M flyers like Tatsu or Manta but it can be fun. Even if you hate the ride though it serves a very important purpose and that's to draw unimaginably long lines every day and keep people away from the better rides. For some reason this ride always has the longest or one of the longest lines in the park.
  16. It kind of looks to me like they're working on the lift motor which is never a good sign. The perspective might be throwing me off here though as I can't tell how close the crane actually is to it.
  17. Hydra is rough for a B&M floorless but it's still not rough in any way, shape or form when compared to most coasters. I enjoy the ride quite a bit.
  18. Oh god no. Not only is Stinger a bad ride, but it's very unreliable and has stranded guests long enough to make the news on more than one occasion. It's been closed basically all season. Laser was reliable, smooth and fun.
  19. My favorite rides at Dorney are actually Talon, Thunder Creek Mountain and Demon Drop. Demon Drop is easily the most thrilling and intense ride in the park. It's so good I ride it despite the awful rap safety spiel they play in the station.
  20. 1) Millennium Force 2) El Toro 3) Phoenix 4) Maverick 5) Kumba 6) Raptor 7) Tatsu 8) Intimidator 305 9) Gatekeeper (sorry guys lol) 10) Montu
  21. I go back and fourth on which one I like better. They're both great coasters. It's absolutely worth a 90 minute wait though, as is Diamondback.
  22. I'll never understand why people have issues with Maverick's restraints. There's literally no headbanging on this ride at all... anywhere. No leg pain either... we rode it 5 times in a row without getting off during ERT the other night and there was no pain at all. Just an awesome... awesome ride.
  23. While I agree with your point about the conversion I have an answer for you on this... Iron Dragon and Gemeni are incredibly popular rides. Iron Dragon's line is spilling out the entrance more often than not and Gemeni rarely has a long line due in part to it's capacity but has pretty good ridership. I don't know what kind of numbers Corkscrew does but it doesn't take up much room so removing it seems pointless. If you look at last year's ridership numbers. You'll see that Iron Dragon and Gemeni both beat both Top Thrill Dragster and Maverick. Sure there are other factors like weather, reliability and capacity but the fact remains that those rides beat 2 of the 3 biggest rides in the park. The only rides listed with more riders than Gemeni and Iron Dragon were Sky Ride, CP & LE Railroad, Gatekeeper, Raptor and Millennium Force.
  24. One tweet... one innocent little tweet and now people are freaking out to the point where people are giving up hope of ever seeing anything innovative at Dorney Park while at the same time suggesting Mantis is coming to Dorney or Hydra and Mantis are switching trains and we're getting a stand-up jo-jo roll which will quite literally be the worst thing ever. Because of one tweet...
