  1. They just put that in a few years ago when Windseekers were all the rage. I'm sure they planned for that as it's no coincidence that a Windseeker, queue line and operator booth would fit perfectly there. Even the cement is in the shape of a circle perfectly sized for Windseeker.
  2. Here is the spot we're talking about. They even went as far as to put the lights there for the queue area.
  3. Despite the fact that they already built a pad and queue line for a Windseeker I don't think we're ever going to get it given the issues the other ones have had and the fact that they didn't build any last year. It's a shame though, it would be a great addition for Dorney.
  4. I agree 100%. The responses in this thread have been ridiculous and this post did a great job mocking them before they were even made. Anyway here is my COMPLETELY REALISTIC 5 year plan for Six Flags New England. This isn't what I want them to do, just what I think they'll probably do. 2015 - Iron Cyclone as it's pretty much confirmed. Removal of New England Skyway for no reason claiming it was in the way of Iron Cyclone. Both stations to remain unused as complete eyesores for the park. 2016 - Houdini is removed from the park map and closes forever, building is left empty except for the crappy haunt maze. Since Six Flags has decided everyone needs something new every year they'll turn the trains backwards on something for a few months so they don't actually have to spend any money on a new ride... probably Thunderbolt. 2017 - Kontiki closes, that path is blocked off with an ugly fence. Bathrooms back there close with no regard for how long of a walk it is between bathrooms now. Some dumb waterpark addition nobody cares about like a children's play area. Thomas town is removed from the park map and fenced off. 2018 - Thomas Town is cheaply re-branded so it can be passed off as the new addition for 2018. Buzzsaw closes, is replaced with nothing except a stupid potted plant at the front of the queue. Enthusiasts stupidly assume that "something will go in Buzzsaw's old pad next year". Nothing is ever put on Buzzsaw's old pad. 2019 - Six Flags forgets to water the plant at the front of the Buzzsaw queue so it shrivels up and dies. Eventually it's replaced with dirt and used as a giant ashtray. Iron Cyclone gets new crappy restraints as an overreaction to an accident that happened on a totally different kind of ride overseas. I'm thinking really uncomfortable shin guards and a oversized lap bar. Enthusiasts whine and cry like they didn't see this coming from SFNE. Bizarro is painted red and re named Superman but they don't do anything else to it to make it any better. They just had to paint it anyway and figured they might sell more crap that way. This is passed off as the new addition for 2019 along with a new waterslide nobody cares about. What does everyone think?
  5. Probably for the same reason they built a huge building at Six Flags New England that was going to have a coaster in it without actually getting permits for it first which resulted in them having to tear it down and send the coaster to Mexico. Six Flags is incompetent. Zumanjaro doesn't seem to be slowed down much by Kingda Ka, as soon as the ride is checked it goes again... lines are usually about 30 - 45 minutes for it. Lines for Kingda Ka can be between 2-3 hours now though on weekends, wait times have just about doubled and they've started using parts of the queue that they hadn't used in years.
  6. Last time we were there they were only able to launch 1 train between Zumanjaro drops earlier in the day... maybe 2 if they were lucky. Later in the day they would usually launch 2 for some reason. I'm thinking it just depends on the crew on each ride. The Zumanjaro crews have gotten very fast and it seems like Zumanjaro goes whenever it's ready... it doesn't have to wait or Kingda Ka. Kingda Ka has to wait for Zumanjaro.
  7. Skyhawk isn't testing, it's open. It re-opened last Friday but the side that had the issue is still closed.
  8. Thanks for moving this. Before posting it I did an advanced search for topics with "Cedar Fair" in the name and didn't find one which is why I posted it where I did. I guess I didn't go back far enough or I just suck at using the advanced search feature. lol You bring up a good point about Haunt trends. Hopefully the weather and their projections works in their favor this October and they get the boost they're expecting.
  9. HOPEFULLY NONE!!! I wouldn't count on it. They're about to get a huge shipment of free spare parts from Canada's Wonderland. That should last them quite awhile.
  10. Did anyone else see this? They seem optimistic that they're going to have record revenues this year but I'm not sure what they're basing that off of. SO far it seems to be a down year for the industry as a whole.
  11. That's great news! With the progress they're making they'll probably be right on schedule for a mid July 2015 opening.
  12. Nitro's C Train isn't unbearable... but the other 2 trains give a significantly better ride experience so why would you wait for train C? It's also worth noting that train C seems to be much worse near the back of the train.
  13. This really seems like it's going to be an expansion area for the waterpark. It's really the only way they could expand it.
  14. Even if you get a Flash Pass (which you should) you should run to Kingda Ka because it won't help you once you're in the station and since the ride has to be ridden in the front seat that could mean a huge wait once you're beyond the merge point. Last time we were there they were only able to run one train between each Zumanjaro cycle which amounts to about 2-3 launches every 10 minutes. Your other option with Kingda Ka is to get in line for it around 9:15 at night. Once Zumanjaro is done running for the night Kingda Ka can finally operate normally so the line will move a little faster. I don't suggest showing up any later than 9:15 because if you do you might not get to sit in the front. If you do decide to break down and ride Kingda Ka in the middle of the day remember to schedule another ride on your Flash Pass as soon as you pass the merge point, that way you can at least be waiting for something else while you're waiting for the front of Kingda Ka. Don't wait to get off of a ride before scheduling another ride. And yes, Nitro's train C is screwed up. Each car of each train has a letter and number on the side of it... if the letter is "C", don't board the train. Let it go empty or find people to go ahead of you. Besides those minor things, operations are very good at this park and you'll have a great time.
  15. I rode it this year and it was great, you might hit the restraint once during the cobra roll and into the mid course but it's not painful... it's actually kind of fun. I'll never understand why people complain about that coaster, it's awesome.
  16. The Safari runs all season (and last year actually one week after the rest of the park closed for the season) the Rapids usually close around Labor Day weekend and the Log Flume also closes right around Labor Day b̶e̶c̶a̶u̶s̶e̶ ̶S̶i̶x̶ ̶F̶l̶a̶g̶s̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶t̶o̶o̶ ̶c̶h̶e̶a̶p̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶l̶e̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶i̶t̶ ̶o̶p̶e̶n̶ ̶a̶l̶l̶ ̶s̶e̶a̶s̶o̶n̶ um... sorry I mean to prepare for the haunt maze under it even though I don't see what they have to prepare since they leave it up all year anyway because they're lazy.
  17. Great report, thanks for sharing. By the way am I the only one that F**king loves Mystery Mine? I think it might be my favorite coaster in the park.
  18. I've been waiting for someone to start a thread like this. I'm always surprised on this forum when coasters I think are smooth as glass in every seat are referred to as rough. I think at one point or another I've seen people complain about roughness on pretty much every coaster. I know it's not always a simple difference of opinion though as some coasters can definitely give a different ride based on body type / height and many other factors. Off the top of my head I can't think of anyone ever complaining about the two American dive coasters (Griffon and Sheikra). I would think those are definitely some of the smoothest coasters out there. I don't want to call a realatively new coaster the smoothest coaster of all time because I would expect most new coasters to be smooth. Because of this I'm going to name some slightly older coasters that have proven to stay smooth over a decent period of time. Personally I always felt that B&M inverts maintained their smoothness over time better than any other modern steel coaster. Rides like Batman (especially at Great Adventure), Afterburn and Montu pull off amazingly intense maneuvers and show no signs of aging at all. Despite their snappy transitions and high G forces they're as smooth today as they were when they first opened (in some cases 20 years ago). Compare that to floorless coasters and B&M megacoasters and there's a big difference. Those rides are smooth too but they can absolutely develop a rattle over time. That rattle doesn't bother me (except on Nitro's train C) but I wouldn't name those coasters in a thread called "smoothest coaster you've ever ridden". Besides inverts, the other steel coasters that come to mind are Schwarzkopf loopers. Rides like Scorpion and Montezooma's Revenge are incredibly smooth despite their age. As far as wood coasters go they can change a lot from month to month let alone year to year. I'm tempted to say something like El Toro but it has gotten a bit rougher over the years. Before anyone jumps on me the ride is still pretty smooth, especially in non wheel seats but because it's at a Six Flags park I could easily see the ride deteriorating over time as most of their large wood coasters have (I hope I'm wrong though). I won't mention RMC woodies as they're way too new to judge. To simplify... if you're asking me for the smoothest wood coasters right now I'd probably list things like Outlaw Run, El Toro and White Lightning at Fun Spot. If you're asking me for wood coasters that have always been smooth and will probably remain smooth for decades I'll go with rides like Phoenix, the Dragon Coaster at Rye Playland (assuming the park doesn't close) and as much as I bash them... the SFNE Thunderbolt which the park has for some strange reason decided to take great care of. Luckily they let the rest of the park go to sh*t to help subsidize that.
  19. Usually when the lines are over an hour and a half for the major rides I'll buy a Flash Pass / Fastlane. It depends on the situation and the park though... I don't really have a set limit. I don't mind long lines when they move quickly (even if they're still over an hour), I just mind them when they never go anywhere due to slow operations. Goliath at SFNE and Kingda Ka are perfect examples of this. With Kingda Ka we only ride it at night now thanks to Zumanjaro... that way when Zumanjaro closes for the night Kingda Ka can launch more than 2 trains every 10 minutes. Meanwhile I'd have no problem waiting a long time for something like Forbidden Journey at Universal where you never really stop moving while you're in line.
  20. While this is easily the lamest Von Roll skyride in the history of ever, it always has a line, only requires one ride op on each side and it's one of the only rides left in the park that guests of all ages can enjoy. Since it's Six Flags New England I could totally see them removing it though (and of course leaving both stations there with nothing done to hide the fact that there used to be a ride there). I want to like this place as it's one of my home parks but this park really, really sucks and it seems like they continue to find new ways to suck every day. If you want to cut costs (again), why not remove Mind Eraser? Unlike the skyway nobody likes it and I'm sure it costs a lot more money to maintain. I'm sorry to sound so negative but I can't help it when I'm talking about Six Flags New England.
  21. Last time we rode it we both agreed that it was time to admit that it's the second best coaster in the park after El Toro. We love Nitro and Kingda Ka but this ride is running insane this year. We always ride in the front and at night when it really warms up it's completely insane. It was running so fast on our most recent ride that I was sure I'd finally get some of the headbanging people complain about just because of it's speed. As usual though it was smooth as glass. I know I say this a lot but the ride is amazing. I feel like it gets better every time we ride it.
  22. This RMC wood coaster rumor at Great Adventure makes absolutely no sense... it probably won't even be the best wood coaster in the park. I'd rather they get a small flat ride and spend their money fixing Nitro's train C and making whatever modifications they need to make to allow Kingda Ka and Zumanjaro to run together so Kingda Ka doesn't have 2+ hour waits every day. A park shouldn't take on another coaster when they can't even take care of the ones they have.
  23. Apparently Skyhawk was testing yesterday with one side running. The other side is still missing the cable. It sounds like the ride will be open a lot sooner than we expected.
