  1. The thing that makes that article great is that the "endurance coaster" is a togo stand-up.
  2. I completely agree. I think when we do get another major coaster it's going to be either a Wingrider or something like Yolocoaster as they're the only things we're really missing that Six Flags has built elsewhere (We don't have a Rocky Mountain coaster but we don't need one since we have El Toro). I know people keep saying we need a traditional style wood coaster but that would be tough to market when you have a wood coaster that's going to blow that new coaster away in every possible category. My money is on a Wingrider... and I'd love for it to be near Chiller's old spot (though Old Country being empty doesn't bother me as much as it bothers most people). For next year I think we'll just get a flat, and if we're lucky some general improvements (hopefully they fix Nitro's C train and figure out a way to get Kingda Ka and Zumanjaro to run together). I'd love for Safari Adventures to become something new or for the Golden Kingdom path to re-open but I don't think that's going to happen.
  3. 1) Cyclone from SFNE is getting Iron Horsed. 2) If Six Flags didn't want it in New England why would they pay to move it to another park where it would become one of the worst coasters in the park? 3) Cyclone wasn't that good. People are only acting like it was because it's being removed. I think the coaster was mediocre at best and I'm being generous. If people loved it so much why did it have a 5 minute wait every day with one train operating? Maybe it was good when it was new but Six Flags would never pay to properly maintain such an intense wood coaster.
  4. You filthy, filthy credit whores. lol Great report by the way.
  5. Guest Services says it will be down all day today too according to a post on Pointbuzz. I hate to speculate but does anyone have any theories as to what might be wrong? The lift motor is at the bottom of the lift... what would require a crane at the top of the lift? A lift chain maybe?
  6. I don't see us getting anything of interest since we just got Zumanjaro and there isn't any visible construction anywhere.
  7. I told you they'd move them soon. lol
  8. It looks like the 3rd train (which I assumed was in the station) is on the lift. Twitter Hopefully the ride won't be down for an extended period of time but it's strange to see such a long breakdown on it to the point that they'd have to evac riders. It seems odd that the coaster would stop on the mid course too, the train on the brake run is clearly free of the back block on the final brakes. Then again I'm not pretending to know anything about this kind of stuff.
  9. It won't be long before they change this camera angle... lol
  10. I couldn't echo this enough... and don't try to cheat by sitting one row from the back because the line is shorter. Sit in the very back row. It's an awesome ride in that seat.
  11. Back in the day it was YOLO enough. I guess they lowered their standards. Six Flags Great Adventure From Great Adventure History
  12. Only enthusiasts care if a design is custom or not... in this case most of them don't even care. I know I don't, I think this is a great fit and it's going to be a lot of fun.
  13. They move the webcams almost every day and they always try to focus on different rides. I don't think there's anything to this at all. Also, speaking of the webcam as sub-par as this coaster is it looks absolutely amazing. While I'd love for them to iron horse it it's a shame it wouldn't maintain the same look it has now because it's a beautiful coaster.
  14. New England Sky Screamer opened about a month after the park did. That only seems "pretty good" because most other Six Flags Parks were even more inefficient. This is going to be much more complex than building a Starflyer though.
  15. If it was 70 degrees and sunny every day all winter this coaster still wouldn't be ready until June. This is Six Flags we're talking about...
  16. I305 actually is pretty reliable. Sure it was closed for a little while last year because of a lift issue but that could happen to any coaster. Other than that and the fact that it needed tweaking in it's first 2 seasons it's been fine.
  17. It looks like it's going to clear up by tomorrow mid-late afternoon. Hopefully the place will be dead and the rain will actually be a good thing. The good news is that the park runs all of the coasters in the rain except for Kingda Ka and even if there are storms they have 2 indoor coasters you can ride while you wait for them to pass.
  18. I'm not sure why this doesn't have any responses as it's a great report. I'm glad to hear you had fun. Thanks for sharing.
  19. The weather looks great later this week. You should be fine. If it does rain for a brief period you should be able to ride Mantis. Gatekeeper, Wicked Twister and Millennium Force frequently run in the rain too but it's pretty random as they just make it up by the minute. Looking at the forecast you have nothing to worry about though.
  20. Dragster is really the only ride where the rain policy makes sense. Having rain pound you in the face at 120 MPH would not be an awful experience.
  21. We went to Orlando in February for 3 full days. We got there on a Thursday around 8PM and left on Monday night. What we did when we got to Orlando on Thursday is exactly what Robb suggested, we went to Fun Spot and had a great time for a few hours. I'm not sure how it is normally but when we were there the place was empty as it was in the 40's (since it was February) so we got 6 or 7 rides on White Lightning without getting up and only got off the ride to go ride some of the flats and the other coaster. We even mixed in a few beers. The next day we went to Universal and managed to ride everything with a park hopper and a universal express pass. The parks were pretty busy but the express pass was amazing. This is obviously pre-Diagon alley and the off season but many rides still had 60-90 minute waits and we walked right on to them. I highly recommend doing something similar (a park hopper and a skip the line pass) there's no reason to only visit one of the parks. The remainder of the trip consisted of Sea World on Saturday, Busch Gardens on Sunday (followed by the other Fun Spot that night to ride the Sky coaster and the coaster) and Daytona beach to credit whore the coaster and have some drinks at the restaurant out over the ocean on Monday. We didn't visit a Disney Park and we had a great time. If we had more time we would have but don't feel the need to force a 2-3 hour Disney trip into one night. All it's going to do is stress you out. Oh and at Busch Gardens Tampa I highly suggest the very back row of Kumba in the seat closest to the unload platform. Personally I'd consider this the best coaster in the park and in that seat it feels like the ride is actively trying to kill you (in a good way).
  22. I'm only 26 so I'm yet to experience this except for when the difference in height (not age) is the problem. This is the case on stand-up coasters. I used to enjoy them but now I just ride them for the credit. Believe it or not I think the one at Kings Dominion might actually be my favorite but I don't enjoy it. I find these coasters extremely uncomfortable.
  23. That's actually a good thing though since you went to Kingda Ka first. I'm sure it allowed for much faster operations.
  24. Great pictures so far. The only other ride I've seen like Wipeout is at Rehoboth Beach in Delaware and it's completely insane. It's nice to see more of these popping up.
  25. I normally don't consider riders being stuck in an upright position on a coaster to be major news but in this case I feel terrible for anyone involved. I couldn't imagine the horror of having to spend 4.5 hours at Six Flags America. By the way this may be a dumb question but since the ride seems to get stuck there a decent amount is it at all feasible for them to install a catwalk like they did on the cobra roll of most boomerang coasters?
