The Carowinds Flyers are overrated in my opinion. The bumpers on them are really annoying. I prefer KD and (obviously) Knoebels. We got screwed on that trade. I'd rather have the Flume. -

... and that's a Saturday. On most days the place is really dead. It's the Dorney of Dixie. -

It's Carowinds. You'll have everything done in 4 hours. Just ride everything and then marathon Fury and Afterburn. -

True, but if the line is long you wouldn't do that and if it's short I'd suggest just not using the Fastlane line if you want row one. I305 rarely has long waits. -

I like Nighthawk, I like Vortex but have no idea why. Hurler is the textbook definition of mediocrity. It's not good, it's not bad, it's just there. Southern Star is a fun flat if you're into that type of thing but yeah, this park sucks in the non coaster department. The Sky Tower is nice, I like Windseekers, Plants vs Zombies is fun but aside from that I don't really care and even those aren't amazing. They have a Boo Blasters if you want some air conditioning. They need a flume and they need it desperately. -
There's a ton of room for expansion if they want to expand. Remember that a large chunk of Golden Kingdom is also sitting abandoned. There's more room along the lakefront (seriously... a lot of room), there's room at the back of Seaport accessible from the main path where the haunt maze goes and you still have a huge abandoned building behind Sling Shot with a Go kart track (something a lot of parks are removing) right next to it and room where they had the Food Truck festival last year sort of near Green Lantern (and for added room they could always remove Green Lantern lol). Plus they could build over things, through things or around things if they really wanted to.

Agreed 100%, though to be fair I think DirkFunk was being sarcastic. -

Self awareness isn't your strong point is it? -
I agree. It's standard practice at some parks for rides to open late sometimes due to low staffing. Carowinds and even Cedar Point do this on weekdays early in the season with their less popular rides. As long as they open eventually and it's restricted to less popular rides I don't mind so much, because those days are usually great days to go due to low crowds so it's a trade-off. That being said, by July you need to have it together. Really once Memorial Day hits, they should have their staffing situation together.

It should be noted that while you can choose your seat on every ride with Fastlane, the front row of i305 isn't available because the front row line starts before the station. Correct me if I'm wrong but it might be the same on Dominator (but ride Dominator in the back... do it. Do it now). You can pick all other rows though and if I305 has a short line (it usually does), you can duck under the railing in most cases for row 1 since you're not cutting in front of anyone. -
Pokemon GO at Theme Parks!

This is what got me into it. I wear a Fitbit but I suck at getting steps, I was great for awhile but lately I sort of gave up on it. With this stupid game I've been over 10,000 steps every day this week (though I won't be today, lol). -
Best theme park specific food
coasterbill replied to coloradocoasterguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wait no more everyone! Dollywood: Cinnamon Bread Knoebels: Caesari's, Pierogies Busch Gardens Williamsburg: Bavarian Pretzels Busch Gardens Tampa and Sea World: Anything from the pretzel place. The Shish Kebab's at Howl O Scream... god damn. Universal: Anything with Butterbeer in it And honestly that's it. There's other food I like at parks but it's a major step down. Things like JB's at SFNE, CrabFries from Chickie and Pete's, Famous Daves at the Cedar Point Marina, Kettle Corn at SFNE, Harmony Hall at Carowinds... all are good, but nothing amazing. And yes I've tried Dole Whip, no I don't care. Magic Kingdom with a few exceptions has some of the worst food of any theme park anywhere. I'd rather eat at any Six Flags unless I have reservations to a place like Be our Guest. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

And you don't know when you're near the top because the ride vehicle hides the tower from you. It's a little funny that Hershey is very likely going to drop a ton of money on a drop ride next year, possibly state-of-the-art technology and Dorney and Knoebels will probably both be crushing them in the drop tower department. Yes... only enthusiasts will care, but it's a testament to ARM and a testament to Intamin first gens. -

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
coasterbill replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If the RMC rumors are true, I think Cedar Fair might have a different outlook on these conversions than Six Flags. Six Flags looks at these conversions as "brand new rides", which they essentially are. Cedar Fair might be looking at these conversions as a remodeling of an existing ride, which is true too. If they advertise it as a remodeling of Mean Streak, there is no need to for them to set any records for them to see a return on their investment. Cedar Fair and Knotts were able to sell the remodeling of Ghostrider and just glancing at the Knotts thread, it looks as if the ride is pulling an hour plus line consistently since it's re-opened (I say that with no prior knowledge to how the lines for GR were before it closed for the remodeling, so someone please let me know if the ride had similar wait times before.) Um... Rougarou. Just saying. Who cares how they market it? They should do whatever they need to do to make these conversions feasible. The Rougarou transformation was awesome. As far as I'm concerned if you take a ride that's so bad I wouldn't ride it no matter what and replace it with a fun coaster that's a "must-ride" on every trip then it's essentially a new coaster to me anyway. -
Pokemon GO at Theme Parks!
coasterbill replied to Peeps28's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, but those are just stupid people... it's not the fault of the game. And rest assured that like any other craze in a few weeks nobody will care anymore. They might still play the game but they won't act like such insufferable little sh*ts. -

For the record, the park versions are vastly inferior to the real ones with a much smaller menu. I still really like the Crab Fries though. Old Bay is truly an amazing thing (um.. I mean their "patented blend of spices" or whatever). -
