  1. Wow your such a fanboy. No. I'm a realist. I'm pretty sure most parks would do a better job than Six Flags. Cedar Point though (as far as corporate parks go) is one of the better ones in terms of efficiency.
  2. Fair enough as I haven't been there, but still... you'll be impressed by Oak Island. Hopefully it helps your expectations knowing that Six Flags has nothing to do with the installation or maintenance of the light displays short of cutting a check to an outside contractor to let them handle it. I have no doubt that the SDC event will be better, but given that the parks are over 3 hours apart that shouldn't matter to most people, and Holiday in the Park is still a great event. Plus the offseason has been cut in half so by default that should make this an excellent addition for any park.
  3. I don't want to nitpick aesthetics at Great Adventure but I agree that the blue paint would look awesome on Batman. Still, their #1 priority should be painting Superman. It looks like hell and it's the first thing everyone sees on the way in.
  4. Great report! I look forward to seeing more.
  5. They valleyed Raging Bull in July? That's impressive. I know high winds are a factor any time of year but you don't hear about many valleys in the middle of the summer.
  6. The difference here is that our HITP cannot just throw some lights up and call it good. That's not what they did at Great Adventure either. We go to Dollywood's event every year. The decorations at Dollywood are probably slightly better, but not by much. They're playing on the same level (except of course in the shows department), we were blown away by Great Adventure. Six Flags doesn't do the lights themselves, they contract it out to a company called Oak Island Creative. They're outstanding.
  7. I don't think Dorney's price point should be used to predict the price points at parks that actually have lines. It's really comparing apples and oranges. You'd have to be an idiot to drop $99 on a Fastlane for Dorney unless you love the water park because the lines almost never extend to the merge points on any ride but depending on how often you visit, Cedar Point could offer one for 5 times that price and it could be a solid investment if you could swing it.
  8. Not that TPR cares, but you're not an NE Parkmaker. You need to actually you know... "make a park" to be a park maker.
  9. They already offer that. It's called a regular Dorney Park season pass. It gets you onto every ride all season long with absolutely no wait.
  10. You guys are seriously in for a treat. Holiday in the Park at Great Adventure was outstanding. It gives the park an entirely different feel and the decorations are very, very solid.
  11. They're being VERY smart about this. The game may have staying power, it may not... but to be safe I think jumping in within the first week or two is a smart move. It seems like the parks are all scrambling to strike while the iron's hot.
  12. I find Apollo underwhelming in every row except the very last row (for some reason even one row up makes a huge difference). I love it in the back row though. In that row it's probably the best coaster in the park as far as I'm concerned (emphasis on probably... because Alpengeist exists).
  13. This is really the most important part of this new development.
  14. It's not at all surprising that Cedar Fair is doing an infinitely better job with this than Six Flags.
  15. The trip happened already. Look at the dates.
  16. Especially because given the average Dorney crowd that's really only 4 people.
  17. Wow. I applaud Larry for his patience and restraint with that post, this is why I could never be a moderator. I'll sit back and wait for you to answer those questions (especially #2). I'm sure this will be a very well thought out response.
  18. What trick? Tell me, I'm going soon and I NEED this! I think it's pulling the seatbelt as tight as possible. Yup. Doing that stops you from slamming into the lap bar and makes for a very enjoyable ride. I can't take credit for it. "smartestcoasterkidever!" turned us on to this awesome trick.
  19. Finally! Someone else that knows how to ride Dominator!!! Yeah Dominator in the back is outstanding. Thanks to the pre drop it rips down the first drop in a pretty impressive way and that seat also provides great hang time in the loop and nice pop of floater air off the midcourse. The first drop is the best reason to ride in that seat though.
  20. Yeah, you get unlimited rides on every coaster.
