  1. ^ I mostly agree but a giga can honestly feel a lot different from Diamondback depending on how it's designed. If it's similar to Leviathan then nevermind, if it's similar to Fury... holy sh*t.
  2. Because rapids rides are stupid. ... lol in all seriousness to each his own but I hate them. Flumes get you moderately wet from the top down (where you want to get wet). Rapids rides get the lower half of you wet which nobody likes including shoes and socks which in many parks must be worn and (barring any waterfalls) leave the top half of you dry. The alternative is that they can dump you under a waterfall which absolutely nobody likes since you're usually wearing your sneakers and soak you to the bone to the point where you might as well jump in a lake with your clothes, socks and shoes on. The only time they're fun is if you're allowed to wear a bathing suit on then or if the theming is so ridiculously good that you're willing to put up the the crappy rapids ride just to experience it.
  3. Everybody's different I guess but I don't know that I agree with this. When the sun's out they don't have any top tier, world beating top 10 rides like a Maverick / Millennium Force but they do have some outstanding coasters. Their lineup feels very complete to me. The second part of this will probably make a lot of people shake their heads but Diamondback and Bat are probably the stars for me and Banshee and Flight of Fear are only a small step down (I'd actually put Flight of Fear on that top level but this one is a lot bumpier than the KD version). The rest of the lineup is fun but not amazing (with the exception of Vortex which is awful), they have a nice flat collection... I really don't feel like the park is missing anything like I do with a park like Dorney for example. ...And then when the sun goes down they have the best coaster in America. Period.
  4. It's my personal favorite actually. I guess there's nothing about it that single handedly makes it amazing but it's almost all back in the woods, floats along most of the way (which I prefer to the higher speed flumes that sort of bang along the trough) and gets you wet but never soaked. The setting is the biggest selling point though. It's so good that on our first visit this year when it was 38 degrees we rode it while waiting for it to get warm enough to run the coasters.
  5. Great photos. We're always in a time crunch when we go to Dollywood but I feel like we really need to dedicate at least a day to checking out the surrounding area.
  6. Nice report. I actually wish people would start new threads for Darien Lake reports because most people avoid this dumpster fire of a thread like the plague but in the process might miss the occasional interesting thing like an actual trip report. Then again I'm no mod, maybe it's just me that feels that way.
  7. Spoken with great authority. The haters keep on hating but the Streak just keeps on Streakin'.
  8. Is this thing on? Hang on... hang on... STOP RIDING 3 BENCH WOOD COASTERS IN WHEEL SEATS. STOP IT! STOP IT NOW! And I know that's what you did. Because Wild One is a totally different ride in a wheel seat vs a non wheel seat.
  9. I would consider Backlot, Avalanche and Ricochet to be solid family rides. Rebel Yell is very manageable too. I think they're done in that department when you throw in the solid flat collection and spec-f**king-tacular flume. PS: I love Avalanche
  10. Go to both, they're right next to each other and take like an hour each... tops.
  11. You don't need a midcourse or an unload station to run 3 trains. There's a pre lift section and if it had a variable speed lift it would be fine. There's another coaster in the same park that runs 3 trains without a midcourse (Banshee). Fury does the same thing. But really the 3 trains thing tells me that whatever happens in that building might take awhile. I guess it's some kind of show scene.
  12. Well the name is terrible but the ride looks fun and most importantly it looks like the flume is safe. I'm looking forward to it, and we'll probably use this as an excuse to go back to Kings Island next year. Thumbs up from me.
  13. I'm not watching because we're too busy drinking but are they keeping the log flume? That's really all I care about.
  14. What the hell is a "Mellinium" flyer train? Is that what they use on Mellinium Force? I'm not usually an a**hole about spelling but god damn.
  15. Agreed. And if there was a choice of seat I would have a different opinion on it but since it has a grouper we never bother riding it.
  16. Yeah, for fireworks. They haven't touched it in about a month. I'll say it again, fireworks are not launched anywhere near that area. They are launched behind the waterpark. I made a post on the matter earlier, and you can find it. I came across that post and sort of backed off the fireworks thing in my next post. It was just the prevailing rumor for a long time. But since everyone is saying they haven't done any visible work in the area in a month it still doesn't seem relevant to a discussion about a major 2017 expansion.
  17. If your trip includes Knoebels then you have all the highlights you need. If it doesn't then your Pennsylvania road trip sucks. To be fair, Leap the Dips is a ton of fun. It's just that the entire test of the park is a disaster.
  18. This post is hilarious and amazing. On the other hand I'm cringing thinking about the 5 posts that are on the way that take a funny post and beat it into the ground. Jumping tons of sharks and landing on tons of dead horses after completing said jumps and giving us all douche chills in the process.
  19. Yeah... here's the link. Or you could (I don't know) look at the last page of this thread that you're reading right now.
  20. Not really, we're just all purely guessing (myself included) and Screamscape mentioned it at one point. Rumors around Valleyfair have been quiet which honestly leaves things totally up-in-the-air.
  21. There is no room for this type of completely rational thinking in this thread.
